RC is terrible in the booth period. I don't know him personally, I don't have a grudge, he's bad at the job.

The older I get the less I post...because I'm coming to realize that my opinion just doesn't matter to anyone but me, so I keep it to myself more and more...I avoid comment sections on news articles, and I'm honestly starting to come here less and less...the fact that the internet gave EVERYONE a soap box and a microphone is causing so much division...everyone thinks their opinion matters to everyone else, and so they type away with an over inflated sense of ego leveraging the lack of consequence for what they say...when the only way to communicate was face to face (or even over the phone) it kept things in check because you say things differently when you are looking someone in the eyes, and/or can hear their voice (when you remember they are an actual human being) and could potentially get punched in the mouth...

Anyway...keyboard warriors are thing...I try really hard not to be one (though I fail a lot...still)...before I post, I think to myself, would I say this to their face if we were having a conversation...if the answer is "yes", I might post...if the answer is "no" I usually (I'm not perfect) delete it and move on.

Amen.  "If it ain't the truth...don't say it.  If it ain't right...don't do it". Marcus Aurelius.

I "hicked" it up a bit 'cause I'm a hick.Silly

They got a point!  These riders are performing at a very high level, and they are human too.  They hurt sometimes and other times they are on their A game, riders and announcers alike.

Be generous to them and respect their hard work and skills; they are among the best athletes in the world.

I see You edited Your post. . Did You spell something wrong? or say something You wanted to rephrase ?RC can not do that live

Often when people make a mistake  on TV they will just keep going and hope its not noticed.  I get it that RC may not be the smoothest talker. But he has a lot of valuable  observations and I really think that he might be a better director than on air guy. With his ability to see where the action is going to be ahead of time.

Okay.    RC/Villo have earned the right to call out  "keyboard warriors".        Hunter....not so much.     That said....it's a stupid move on their part for doing so.       Looking at my own posting style, I'm very opinionated, but I generally don't call out the riders.

What i got from that was

1. They read Vital

2. They have very thin skin, saying things to your fan base like “you can’t hold a drink and eat a cheeto,” “you don’t know what’s happening in the background” or in other words it’s too complicated for you to understand.

What I always find fascinating is the inability to understand that just because we love riding dirt bikes and would have given anything to achieve  what RC and RV did in the industry we aren’t just dumb dirt bike riders. Those keyboard warriors they are lamenting could be, doctors, lawyers, architects, engineers, maybe even work in the broadcast industry… the fact remains RV and RC are just dirt bike riders and haven’t achieved anything else in life to lead me to believe, as evident by the broadcast they are defending, they can understand what is happening in the background or have the ability to hold a cheeto and drink at the same time. What I saw were two dudes that had their egos stroked their entire career for riding dirt bikes and now can’t handle valid criticism!

While I like both of these guys… I do see plenty of truth in what you’re saying, too.

I’ve got no problem with them throwing some of this shit out there at the key-board webesphere…not one bit. No problem at all.

People sling shit and they sling some back. It’s kinda cool, actually.

Security on break at the retirement home?

Well, I'm retired, I'm at home, and my wife is at work, so...I guess so?

Headed out for an eMTB ride soon. Here's a shot from a recent ride.

Well said.

I don't understand the mentality that because someone was good at playing a sport, they some how get a free pass to be mediocre at another profession.

Imagine if Art Eckman expressed an interest in racing motorcycles at the highest level. He's then given a shot at riding for a factory team and to everyone's great surprise he's not that great at it. He then proceeds to ride for said factory team for multiple years failing to deliver any results... but sure, let's keep on the team because he was a great announcer.

I respect what these guys accomplished as riders!  Truly amazing.!….but…If you don’t want public criticism don’t have a highly visible TV job….or…just don’t listen/read the criticism….or….laugh at it and don’t be a pussy.  Some of the greatest coaches in sports never played the sport.  Observation and evaluation of a sport/athlete doesn’t alway require to having been one.  I’ve heard some pretty dumb ass shit from great riders, that many other riders disagreed with, that would lap me in the first two laps.  I’m sorry it hurt their feelings…but toughen up…or leave a high vis job.  Biden is the worst President ever and a dumb ass…but I have never been President so I can’t criticize him?  Fuck that.

That pity party would have been better to be saved for when they were on that boat having drinks with each other.

none of that explains how RC is the worst analyst announcer the sport has ever seen. I'm not the bar; the dozen or so other guys that have done or do it better than he does week in and week out are the bar.

There are always going to be small percentage of absolute haters who spew nothing but garbage online and I'm sure those are the guys RC and RV are talking about.  The best response IMO would have been something along the lines of acknowledging they'll always be haters and that will never change, nothing more.  It's best not to get caught up in it, otherwise it appears the haters are getting under their skin.

Everyone is talking about RC and RV in this thread, but I'm more interested in learning what incident motivated Hunter to pose the question?  Hunter is the one who's calling them out, and RC/RV were responding to it.

I’ll answer that question for Hunter Lawrence.

Well Hunter , it’s because the people involved in this sport suck. Hunter, imagine a sport where there is literally no worthwhile information provided to the fans, and then the stars of the sport talk shit when the fans speculate. Yea, that our sport, a collection of good ole boys because anyone that thinks outside the box is thrown out

You know Hunter, if it wasn’t for the majority of the keyboard warriors in this sport, the stadiums would be empty, and you would probably be digging a ditch in Australia because you claim your family was so poor you couldn’t afford college. Remember Hunter, you needed us a lot more than we needed you.

As far as the broadcast being bad, there is a top rider who watches every Monday on mute because he can’t stand it. Let’s not forget that Phil Nicoletti rants about it every chance he gets.

What whoops?

you're probably being sardonic bc the whoops are weak this year until they rut up, but it was in Race #1, 10:00 on the timer, broadcast timestamp ~28min while leading Tomac exiting the whoop pad.

I agree that he stumbles over words sometimes. And is not a wordsmith. But  he is able to call stuff before it happens very often. And point out things a rider is doing that I have not noticed other TV guys point out.   I really do like how he is able to pick up on things like that. His southern twang and way of speaking is not the normal pro voice people are used to hearing. But put his missteps aside and listen to the stuff he gets right. Just try it , and You can learn something.

His position is the former rider analyst.   I think that he adds value to the show. And I really think he could excel as a producer.

What he said about people not knowing what is going on in the background. That could mean so many things. They have a ear piece with people talking, could be running into tech difficulties that feed them the wrong info , who knows.

I get it that he is not as smooth sounding as  many other voices. But his knowledge makes up for it in my opinion. I think that if he stopped letting the bad stuff people say bother him , He might do better and have less of those stumbling moments he has had. I feel like when he was part time he had less of those moments that people complain about.

And funny thing about complaining about RC and RV complaining , about people complaining...... They have just as much of a right to complain about and criticize anybody  who is putting their opinion out there right? It is their opinion just like when any of us hit enter on here. We open ourselves up to whatever.

And I feel like there is a percentage of people that will just step up their bitching now , trying to get RC or RV to say their names or call them out.  Who knows, RC might not care and just know that it will get more attention on him and the podcast he and RV do. He might just be playing everybody while laughing all the way to the bank.

RC is so secure in his job and ability in performing at a high level that he takes time to “call out” those that criticize him…and had enough pull to chase his competition that was clearly superior to him, Daniel Blair, away…oh and require an NDA so Blair can’t comment on why he left or his true feelings of the broadcast. What is that thing they talk about, Napoleon complex??
