I believe the transponder comes before the jump, so red cross flag shouldnt count, because race ends the instance u touch the face of the jump, so all the air time after is post race completion

Doesn't matter. In the slow mo you can see the 18 never even looked towards the flag stand until he was on the face of the jump. He was fixated on the rut he was in
