My 2024 450x has been great to me so far. Probably put down over 350+ miles on it easily since early December. Been running 25-30 mile trails multiple times a week plus two sets of 100+ miles for a training weekend, then a 75 mile race in New Mexico. Only issue I've had so far was the damaged cartridge internal on my right fork.  Though that seemed to be an issue from the factory. Currently running Bills RE-13 full system, Keefer Chaz map, IMS Tank, twin air air filter, Guts Wing seat and a 3d printed air filter cage from Rev3D. Any other changes besides suspension work have been small. Bike is probably the best dirt bike I've ridden so far. I had my first big issues with my 22 450SR around the 40 hour mark which, I'm pretty sure sure I'm near or past. My recommendation for anyone with the KX450X and running the kick stand is to double up your kickstand springs to keep it from flopping around, and fill out the empty space on the footpeg mounting pin with washers. Mine tended to keep crawling upwards and would be on the inner side of my foot. Extremely annoying.

For those not wanting the Twin Air kit. Pro seal has a rubber air box seal for about 20 bucks you can grab off their site to install on the outer part of the air box if you need it. I got it, and the seal is much tighter.

I didn't have any issues on my end with it sealing, but I also haven't had issues with any rolling on my filters either. I'm cleaning air filters today so I'll let you know.

Thanks. What filters are you using?

DT1 filters have a neoprene gasket where the filters touch the air box. I use grease and my filters are practically glued to the air box.

Could someone confirm if the torque specs for the engine mounts are the same as the 23 and older bikes. I don't have a service manual yet.

I just saw that Kawasaki increased the rebate on the KX450 to $1200.

I just bought one last week! I got the $750 rebate. Any idea if they back pay the rebate if you purchase within x amount of time? Either way i got a smokin deal & team green money back so i'm happy but hey every dollar helps me!

The IMS tank is available for 2024? 2.9 gallon? Struggling to find a bigger tank. Not getting far on my stock tank at 300lbs lol

I'm using the last gen tank, and it fits perfectly fine. I run a washer and bolt on the left side plastics because they tend to spread a little bit from the extra size of the tank. Gives it some more give without modification to the plastics, only a little bit of space between the left size shroud and air box plastics. Right side fits perfectly.

Thank you!

Discounts are making me tempted to try one.  My brain says buy blue, but can’t get over the looks of it.  Guess I’ll go green and pony up some cash to make it rip!

Starting next year, every bike is going to need a slip on to bring out its full potential.  Here’s why.

Since the KX was all new this year, they built it to meet the 2025 standards.  The dB/A requirement goes from 115 to 112 next year.

People keep talking about 450's being too much.  But if these type of sound reduction measures continue, soon you'll need a 450 just to compensate for the choked up exhaust.   A drop of 3db is a reduction of 50% of the sound energy.

I never even started mine before putting the PC pipe on it.  I couldn’t figure out why all the reviews said the bike was slow.  Now it makes sense.  With the PC pipe on the bike, it is probably the fastest bike I’ve ever had.

I like hearing this.  Hearing everyone say it’s slow has been scaring me off…

However, if the chassis is good and a pipe and some air box mods is all that’s needed to uncork it, I may do the same as you.

Curious, you did you ti6 or ti6 pro?  I’m thinking the later due to where I ride.  If I can get decent power out of it and be a little quieter, all the better.

Seems extremely high. 1850 off the show room floor but seems a little low. 2000 RPM sounds about perfect. Thoughts? I know you want to keep the oil pump spinning fast enough to keep good oil pressure, but 2300 seems extreme.

Set to book specified, when the bike is fully warmed up.   Idle is supposed to be ~2300 on all the new fi bikes,  and a low idle is the #1 cause of flame outs in my experience.

After getting more hours on the bike I eventually set the idle to 2300. Still seems insane, but I'm an engineer in the auto industry where 750 is the norm

I got the regular T6.  I didn’t feel like paying up for the Ti6, plus, at the time I ordered it, the Ti6 was on back order.  It certainly is hella loud.  If I had to do it over again, I might have gone for the pro.  Any muffler you put on will be an improvement.  The baffles literally look like they cut the exhaust flow in half.  The only airbox mods I did were pulling out the rubber plug and tearing the foam off the back side of the side panel.  The bike corners way better than my 19 did, and after putting in a heavier shock spring, a single heavier fork spring, and raising the fork oil level, I’m very happy with the suspension.  At this point, I don’t plan to revalve it.

Couple of random questions......
- Looking at both the MXGP and US SX factory bikes, how in the world do they get the main portion of the frame that runs behind the shrouds so polished to basically mirror-like? And do they do something special to the swing arm to make it look polished as well?

- What have they done to the factory team's airboxes to allow such a larger air filter and looks like the rear section has almost like a air tunnel for better flow. I could be looking at it wrong though. Not sure.

Hi I’ve been reading posts about mapping on the 24 kx450, has anyone made a video how to use app? I’ve but a new map on my bike with my new PC exhaust but not sure if it’s right.  Anyone have any advice? Thanks IMG 1546 0.jpeg?VersionId=Ah9MP.RTt

Jusy buy the vortex ECM. The "Rideology" in my opinion was all about marketing. Garbage

Very easy to polish these frames and swing arms.  Just a little Mothers will do it by hand.  No machine polish needed.

Is there anything you should do to prep the surface? I have seen multiple videos where some people have used WD40 and a Scotch Brite pad before the Mother's polish. Is that part necessary?

These prices are crazy. Plus $1500 for wins in bigger am races. I wish Yamaha would step up on the rebates and contingency!

The Rideology app parameters do almost nothing to help alter the power curve, We spent a couple weeks with different maps from both here and from guys in Holland testing, and it is not very effective.

If you guys want real adjustability out of this motorcycle to bring the motor up to par with  KTM or Husq power, try any or all of these items, in order of importance :

(1) Vortex from XPR or TD - Personally, I use XPR because you can get answers from Chad Braun the same day.

(2) Exhaust - The stock exhaust is extremely restrictive as most of you know - We are using the PC Pro Series exhaust as it is AMA sound compliant, although the HGS is pretty good as well. Pick one.

(3) Twin air Power flow system - here is the link to order one from Dominus.

https://dominuscorp.com/twin-air-powerflow-kit-kawasaki-kx450-kx450x-2024.html?find=kawasaki-kx-450-f-2024-6289894

This mod requires a little mechanical aptitude, but it is so worth it. We were lucky enough to get a test prototype from Twin Air back in January, and it really is an improvement in power delivery down low in the RPM.

All in this is about $2600 retail.   A lot of money to put into a brand new bike, but if you guys ride a lot or race you will really appreciate the power that comes from these bolt on items.

If you go to Keefer's pod on this bike, he pretty much comes to the same result, although he did not test the power flow kit yet as far as I know as it just became available to the public.

The Ti-6 were back in stock last week so I’m glad to have that on now.
Does anyone have Twin Air flat filters in stock?

I went riding this weekend with several guys on a variety of different bikes, including KTMs.  We all swapped bikes, and nobody felt like my 24 KX450 with a T6 exhaust system and the Keefer map was giving anything up to any of the other bikes in the power department and everyone that rode it preferred the handling and ergos of my bike.  I race to win all summer long, and I assure you that I’m not searching for more power at this point.  Maybe a points scoring national pro could use more power, but my bike has more than enough for me and everyone else who has ridden it.

It’s not really about more power, it’s moving that power down lower in the curve so you can use third gear more in slow corners, which makes for a smoother power delivery, which is easier on your body because the acceleration isn’t as abrupt.

I don t think you live in socal anymore but if you are around glen Helen or fox raceway this year DM me and you can try one of  our vortex boxes in your Kawi, and see for yourselff…

You are correct, I'm not local anymore but I certainly appreciate the offer!  I gotta say though, even with the stock gearing I'm not having any problem carrying 3rd through all but the very tightest corners.  I actually like the reduction in the "jumpyness" compared to the prior generation.  If feel like I'm smoother and carrying more momentum through corners.  The stopwatch backs up this sensation for me, at least.  We'll find out soon enough whether I'm right or wrong at Lincoln Trail in about two weeks!
