It was a joke
2007 Lakewood. I had a Pro Pass from my buddy who was trying to qualify. After 250 Moto 1 it was RV and Townley under the pop up tent behind the podium. So we're walking up to the backside of the podium. Suddenly we smelled a ton of monster and saw it running down the hill. Look up and see 2 monster girls crouched down pouring out 4 cans of Monster behind the corner of the podium and filling them with water bottles to hand off to RV and Townley. It was the first time I'd actually seen it happen in person. People at that time actually thought they were drinking that crap after a moto. Then we all knew it was water after one of the guys poured it on their face on Live TV some time that summer, oops.
And I’ve NEVER asked one of my riding buddies to take off his shirt
69% of people running Wiseco stickers for contingency back in the day were not running Wiseco in the bike.

Didn't a young Roczen once actually neck a can of Red Bull to celebrate winning the first moto somewhere, then pulled out of the second race through sickness.?
McGrath running the 1993 frame right up until he left Honda. I know its still Honda but the fact he used the '93 frame the whole time he was full time 250 was still hidden as much as best they could.
Ok the fuel one has my intrigue. Wonder why they did it for outdoors and the advantages it held over VP
As a race mechanic I saw this happening. They’re were giving them away and no one was taking them but they all ran the sticker for the $$
I helped delivering a shipment of a certain Blue coolant to a factory team that was paid by another coolant brand.
We used to laugh about it.
I would say KTM putting on white plastics and calling it a Husqvarna.
I painted helmets for a '90's 500 GP rider who was paid to wear a helmet brand that was garbage. He bought helmets from another brand, then sent them here to be painted up in the colours and logo of the sponsored brand. Must've been a good pay check to have made it worth all the hassle.
I always act surprised when my buddies show up to the track in the morning drinking energy drinks (Bang I think it is now days??) and then complain they feel like absolute garage 5 minutes into moto 1.
What a goof. They wont touch "toxic shit"? What's toxic about it? It's vitamins sucralose and caffeine and salt in various blends and synthetic flavors.
Chase sexton literally was slamming red bulls at the test track and commented how he was pumped to have red bull as a sponsor.
I'm on par with professional athletes and I dabble in caffeinated beverages quite frequently. Caffeine is one of the half dozen or so known effective supplements for sports performance. Wait til you find out that they eat dessert too
no shit! wow!
Your telling me you'd drink that monster piss after a race when your body needs to be rehydrated?
Guaranteed it's water or another electrolyte supplement..
Lots to unpack here....
Of course nobody drinks them during training of any kind or after a hot moto that would be gross.
You're missing some stuff, including 54g of sugar:
CARBONATED WATER, SUGAR, GLUCOSE, CITRIC ACID, NATURAL FLAVORS, TAURINE, SODIUM CITRATE, COLOR ADDED, PANAX GINSENG EXTRACT, L-CARNITINE L-TARTRATE, CAFFEINE, SORBIC ACID (PRESERVATIVE), BENZOIC ACID (PRESERVATIVE), NIACINAMIDE (VIT. While the product - Pedialyte - wasn't disguised or covered up a certain factory team back in the day at Hangtown sure didn't want me to take a picture of a pack of it sitting on a toolbox under their awning. I think rider #199 was a rookie that year...
Pit Row
If you look on mechanic carts they usually have a gallon bag with a couple empty cans in case their guy gets on the podium.
Tour water hasn't been around for 10 years, they made it when Vans Warped Tour was really big and they were giving them out to performers and stuff for free advertising and to keep people from dying when it was 100 degrees out.
they actually just came out with tour water again in totally different cans though probably to compete with Liquid Death.
Yeah, so outside of the two preservatives it's what I said.
I am going on the assumption that nobody with a brain drinks sugar drinks. Ironically, after a moto, workout, long ride, etc, the sugar is actually pretty helpful for recovery and rejuvenation. I will sometimes get an 8 oz redbull full strength between 3 and 4th motos at the track since it is a simple carb and a boost of caffeine. Carbs aid in hydration big time also.
Still, dont drink monster at the track. period.
They're at least aware of the sport. They were at Washougal a few years ago sponsoring the two stroke race... Maybe all the smoke and mullets scared them off?

Everyone is talking about "piss water", real water, energy drinks, Pedialyte and such...
Nobody has brought up IVs yet.
haha same here. I used to race with a guy who would be seen between races slumped in a deckchair; can of Monster in one hand, cigarette in the other. Usually looking rough as guts, complaining about how knackered he was feeling lol
My teenage mind was blown when I learned KTM was running Rotella in their race engines when sponsored by Motorex in the late 00's.
My bud at the track was given a free energy drink once think it was rockstar. Early morning empty stomach downs the whole 18 oz can. Before his first moto. After the race he starts hurling.
Wasted day felt like shit the rest of the day. I'm glad I never got into drinking them.
I can't drink that stuff ,I feel like it makes me dream with eyes open LoL
believe there was some be-fuckery with Ricky when he had the Berik boot deal at the end of his career. ML please expand.
I do know of a current GNCC pro who was sponsored head to toe by a gear company, but put their goggle straps on 100% frames.
I remember when Red Bull first came out, drank a can about 15 minutes before one of my motos at a pretty cool night track. I was Justin Barcia before Justin Barcia. Never been a fan of the stuff
I thought IV's were banned ?
