Another video on Keefers site saying bike is rich yet the Keefer/cha map adds more fuel. Am I right to be confused?

Is the T-6 slip on a good enough gain that’s worth the savings vs a full system? Don’t care about the weight, if the T-6 is a noticeable difference over the stock pipe with screens removed I’ll go for it. Have only seen people with fmf slip ons or PC full systems

The slip on for me is awesome! No complaints. Alot Better then the stocker. IMG 8974

The last few posts about Keefer’s fuel and ignition settings is the old 24 kx450 one. He since went a complete different direction with the fuel and ignition settings. He said in stock form the bike is rich. In his podcast he mentions you can email him for the new settings with the stock ECU. It’s a very different mapping for fuel and a slight change on Ig. I have the numbers but it’s not my place to post them. After that, he’s now testing the vortex.

Thanks, I've sent him an email so hopefully he sends me his new map. In saying that I have tried a few different maps and a few of my own and I'm actually very happy with the stock mapping with opened up airbox/exhaust and 51 tooth rear.

My buddy blew up his 24 today with 4.5 hours on it at GH. He said it was knocking & clanking & making all sorts of noises. Not gooood. Hopefully just a fluke deal. I’ve got a 24 on the way right now!

That’s terrible to hear!! Hopefully like you said, it was just a fluke. I can remember if it was somewhere in the beginning of this thread or somewhere else where I read someone’s oil pump gear went out on their ‘24 with very little hours on it. But then again I’ve also read where other manufacturers have had similar things happen as well. I wonder if Kawasaki will help your buddy out with it being that low of hours?

Look back on pg 26. Brent's oil pump gear went and trashed the engine. Almost 2 months now and still waiting to hear from Kaw.

Yeah, I think that is the one I remember reading early on. I'm hoping these rare and definitely unfortunate occurrences are just that....rare....fingers crossed. Most certainly hate it for these guys that it's happened to. Hopefully Kawasaki will make it right for them.

Tell him to take it to his dealer.  I’d be shocked if Kawasaki doesn’t help him out unless there’s more to the story.  Kawasaki is pretty good about that.

Update - No news from Kawasaki on if they will help pay for the repairs to my 2024 motor.

Took the bike to the dealer we purchased it from, they looked at the bike and parts and said they would contact Kawasaki to get a response.

That was around February 1st, still no answer from them.

on my own I paid to have the bike completely rebuilt by our excellent tuner Derrick, so far no problems on the rebuilt motor.

One thing we found when the motor was disassembled after it let go at 8.5 hours,  the cam bearing races were not machined all the way through , as there were machine filings blocking the oil pathway under the cam.  Who know if this caused the problem or not...

I don't know if it is different in us but here they demand a Kawasaki dealer to do the tear down and rebuild to cover it.

Ive been on Kawasaki 4 strokes since 05 and been very lucky. Intake valves on a few 250:is but thats pretty much it.

Oh and i had the little ring that holds the balls or what you call them on the main bearing crack on a 2010 450 at 40 hours so it started knocking. They helped me with that one and the bike run fine for several hundred hours.

Dude that is horrible. Sounds like nothing you could have done to prevent it..I mean sucking in dirt to cause a blow up is one thing but just having a bike grenade due to something like that is frankly unacceptable. I’m not too worried moving forward. Hope for the best do everything I can to ensure to take care of it. I also saw a new 24 Honda & plenty of new Yams let go with barely any hours on em.

I’ll make sure to let you guys know what he finds when he tears it down.

My 2024 450x has been great to me so far. Probably put down over 350+ miles on it easily since early December. Been running 25-30 mile trails multiple times a week plus two sets of 100+ miles for a training weekend, then a 75 mile race in New Mexico. Only issue I've had so far was the damaged cartridge internal on my right fork.  Though that seemed to be an issue from the factory. Currently running Bills RE-13 full system, Keefer Chaz map, IMS Tank, twin air air filter, Guts Wing seat and a 3d printed air filter cage from Rev3D. Any other changes besides suspension work have been small. Bike is probably the best dirt bike I've ridden so far. I had my first big issues with my 22 450SR around the 40 hour mark which, I'm pretty sure sure I'm near or past. My recommendation for anyone with the KX450X and running the kick stand is to double up your kickstand springs to keep it from flopping around, and fill out the empty space on the footpeg mounting pin with washers. Mine tended to keep crawling upwards and would be on the inner side of my foot. Extremely annoying.

For those not wanting the Twin Air kit. Pro seal has a rubber air box seal for about 20 bucks you can grab off their site to install on the outer part of the air box if you need it. I got it, and the seal is much tighter.

The IMS tank is available for 2024? 2.9 gallon? Struggling to find a bigger tank. Not getting far on my stock tank at 300lbs lol

I just saw that Kawasaki increased the rebate on the KX450 to $1200.

Does the Pro Seal try to grab or "roll" the sealing edge of the filter when sliding the filter in?

I didn't have any issues on my end with it sealing, but I also haven't had issues with any rolling on my filters either. I'm cleaning air filters today so I'll let you know.

I'm using the last gen tank, and it fits perfectly fine. I run a washer and bolt on the left side plastics because they tend to spread a little bit from the extra size of the tank. Gives it some more give without modification to the plastics, only a little bit of space between the left size shroud and air box plastics. Right side fits perfectly.
