So I know there are a few. I don't know what can or would be fixed, everyone is out of the office. I am curious to see what you guys feel are bugs and need to get fixed. Keep it constructive. I'll try and reply with what are actually not or what isn't possible. Some other info:
We, Rainbow, did the PS3 and 360 version. We have no control of code over the other versions. (Some one brought up the older PC version, this was also not ours and had nothing to do with it). Also I'm sure you guys will touch on some of them but there will be things that you guys gripe about that are not us but are Microsoft or Sony issues. Let'em fly. Reed 08' SX Champion!!

Ok. Game goes on the shelf, or on ebay when I get home tonight.
Sorry, but that thing just fucking blows goats.

The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
all xbox360 version
Things you should be able to fix
1: a "Back" button to abort the wait time for joining a session
2: back brake "gyro" has little or no effect. real life brake taps send the rear wheel upwards MUCH faster
3: same for the gas gyro effect
4: even in "pro" mode, things just seem too slow and "floaty"
Things I know you can't fix, but want a more direct statement on
1: Sound
2: AI (they like ramming me, alot)
3: The nascar style spin-out whenever you hit objects (see #2, this is a huge angst modifier)
4: Leaning forward in turns should matter
5: You cannot "spin out" or do donuts with the MX bike (or quad). that should REALLY be in there
6: Wish we could have a front and rear brake. Seperate.

not that big of a deal compared to the rest of em...
how exactly do you fix a game i already own for ps3?
is there like an offical forum for this game?
I did notice what seems to be still present network lag (which I'm not sure if you guys can fix, but it seems better than the last game too, so steps in the right direction, but it doesn't seem as 'real time' as other games on the market (racing and non racing))
The preload seems pretty inconsistent. In the last game it seemed you could preload at various points on a jump, with different results. This seems to be different in that the preload is very strict on when you can preload (and it seems to just be max preload every time) It makes it difficult to finesse the bike into rythms that might otherwise be easy.
Whiskey throttle (if this was meant to be realistic like real life whiskey throttle... then disregard!)- sometimes I've noticed that the bike will gain a tremendous amount of torque & grunt when you least expect it, and send you skyrocketing (even without preload) over jump sections that are otherwise unclearable (i'm talking jumping like 6 or 7 jumps at once!)
I think you guys did a lot of good with the game... I think the pro physics are AWESOME! I just wish more people played on them. Maybe a way to designate only pro, or race physics for a room would be a nice feature.
I liked the look of the rider (except in crashes and in whoops - which you can no longer preload through).
I found the Sections mini-game to be awesome! Really helps you to figure out more unique combinations through sections, and work for faster stuff.
And objects... i've noticed that online play, some people will have haybales littering the track, while others have a clear track. IMO, that really hinders the game play from being truly fair and level, and makes it so the guys out front can run a pretty much unhindered lap, while some riders are forced to deal with the crashes caused by the objects. Not sure why that happens, because it didn't appear to be an issue last game, but this time it seems to be a major issue. Which I think may partly be due to the fact that objects do send you spiraling out of control (unrealistically) as someone else stated.
The rest of the stuff good or bad, I could take or leave, but some of these key issues (which I don't know if you guys can address) are what makes the game lack replay value, and fun factor.
And yes, downloadable content would be cool to! Tracks & such.
I totally agree. One of my complaints is that there are fewer SX tracks now! I know Forza2 has extra downloadable tracks you purchase now.....I hope Rainbow considers this as well.
Before I begin, thanks for posting, Triton. I really hope that you guys come out swinging next time (if there is a next time) and really blow us all away. Trust me...we're all rooting for you!
As for bugs....hmm...
1. The haybales definitely cause problems. They need to reset themselves after a few seconds.
The fact that they are not scattered in the same places for every rider (most probably don't realize that, however) glarifies that problem.
2. The Gate. You should be able to get hung in the gate if you jump to early. As it is now, you can get on the gas before the gate even drops and just sit there spinning your back tire waiting for the gate to drop. When it does, you take off just fine.
3. Speeds. I KNOW you can't fix this and wouldn't consider it a bug, but I've got to mention the speeds of the tracks (SX especially). You should simply have to use your brakes in the corners. Going 65mph around a berm just isn't good.
The high speeds also make it tough to setup & execute block passes, etc. Everyone is simply WFO around 95% of the corners so it takes that aspect of racing out.
4. Online Lag. Not sure if "Lag" is the right word but I think you know what I'm talking about. Example: If I go into a corner near another guy but NEVER actually make contact with him, in their screen, we collided and they ended up going down. They're pissed! Meanwhile, in my screen, I never touched them. Maybe that isn't fixable. I just know it causes a lot of problems in the races since the other riders aren't [i:18kmnvkd]actually[/i:18kmnvkd] where they seem to be on the screen.
5. Do the Performance Tuning aspects of the game actually even do anything? Honestly?
If so, you need to give riders the option of tuning their bikes between races without having to leave the session they're currently in. With the "Winner picks next track" aspect of the online racing, tracks can vary greatly. You can be doing a Technical SX one race and then the very next race will be a long sweeping outdoor national.
Then again, if performance tuning really doesn't affect much, I can see why it isn't accessible.
Other nuisances:
-Tricks being integrated with the racing. It's dumb. Especially when you are racing the AI and they're all doing tricks during the middle of the race...when they are in LAST.
-Cool to see the pro riders...but it would better if they actually LOOKED like the pro riders. RC should ride a bike that looks like his and should have HIS gear with HIS custom #4, etc....I understand you might not could use "Makita", etc...but you could have still at least made the graphics the same and write "Ricky" or something on the shroud instead of Makita. Kind of like the Nascar games do with Dale Jr's Budweiser car.
-I have some more things that I'd list but I've gotta go soon so I'm running out of time.
One thing that I did find that is really a blast to play with a few friends, though, is Section Racing. It really is a ton of fun! For those of you that haven't tried it online...give it a shot! It's under "Mini-Games".
Endurocross is also a lot of fun too. Wish there were more tracks!
I can't find any cheats for my PSP version.
How ya been RBW?
Dick!

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but how do you get to the "chatting and lobby" in the ps3 version?

1) losing voice on Live - This isn't us, it happens in other games but hopefully MS can fix it.
2) Not being able to launch in a room - Had this happen a few times.
A note on the Lag. I think it is a ton better, it is a very hard thing to control and account for. One of the reasons it is harder for us is there is a vertical element (ie. jumping) that other racing games don't have. Also I would rather get spun around then punted across the entire track.
Pit Row
MCM2 by Rainbow Studios was such a great game. I was adicted to that game, it had a great flow where it actually almost felt like you were riding the bike and the sound of the bikes was pretty realistic. That came out what around 8 years ago, you would think by now we would have an even better game not something like this.

Best MX game ever. I still play it. The tracks were great, the off-road stuff was awesome, even the little touches, like all the 3-D were great-I mean, did jumping the train or ripping through the trailer park ever get old?

Different companies (microsoft), different platform, different audiences? i guess

Rainbow made that game too.
Personally, I think MX Unleashed (not the "vs ATV" one) was the closest to perfection they've come so far. Admittedly, it's been almost 3 years since I've played it so I'll have to break it out again and see what I think now...but I just remember being able to race in the corners. SUPER fun block passes and takeout moves. Now when you try to execute a block pass, more times than not, both riders go flying in odd directions.
Triton, one thing I've noticed several people having issues with (including myself occasionally) is not being able to connect to a room. Example: Your friends have a room going and are riding around in the lobby. They invite you but when you try to connect, it says "The game is no longer available". Not sure what causes this but we just did a warmup tournament on mxutournament.com and ran into that problem with various riders over the course of the night. Most riders could get in the rooms just fine but about 2 in 10 had major problems getting in. Some never made it even after 10+ invites.

Rainbow made that game too[/quote:3hui9qm8]
Yes, but i believe the motocross madness series was microsoft's deal. when both companies partied, rainbow were kinda left without it, which is why they created the new series.
Most of the issues these guys seem to have with the game is due to the fact that they actually participate in the real life version. The vast majority of people buying video games don't pay attention to the real thing so doing a backflip during the race is cool to them, when we know that doing that ala TP style gets you in trouble.
Either way come Jan 17th when the Wii version hits the shelf I'll buy it and play it till I beat everything on it then I'll wish I could download more tracks for it...
Word.
I agree too with the D pad. I had so much control by using the D on past mx games, but check this. Everyone is complaining about the preload not being precise. Well, what are you using to preload? The joystick right? Maybe when you lean back, you might be actually leaning a small bit to either side which would make the game think you are turning...not leaning back...thus not preloading? Then, to make the bike preload, you spend more time focus on directly leaning back than the racing action. I believe if we could use the D pad, it would know when you hit the down button rather than the "360 degree button" of the joystick. Because I tried the joystick before on MXvsATV Unleashed on PS2 and notice this happen when I try to preload, even when I did not know about it and thought I was leaning back. Anyway, the preload is way too "springy".
The game, overall, is fair. It needs a lot of improvement. Hell, Supercross Circuit is still the best moto game I ever played....and that was 8 years ago!!! Replica National and SX tracks from that year (1999 I believe). A legit career mode at that time. Functional track editor. And back then, they had 4 ways to whip and you were able to scrub obstacles....and this was 1-2 years before Stewart made it realistically possible! I was expecting in 8 years that we would be qualifying for nationals/SXs in a real life career mode from privateer to factory on National/SX tracks with sponsors and all......
Oh wait...bugs of the game.....sorry had to rant there...
Some people are stating that the AI is taking you out and all. Well, we did ask for a tougher AI right? I personally love this option. When the online thing gets glitchy, its good to have the AI on the game to be hard as well. I think the people who are complaining about getting taken out by the AI is just pissed they got taken out HAHA.
And why is there an option to change skin tone of the rider? I never heard of a horsepower increasing skin tone. I can slightly understand changing the hub color, rim color, and graphics because that can make you feel like your going faster...but skin tone? Seriously....why? And I didn't see a James Stewart skin tone!!!!
Also, I have always wanted to play in "goon mode". Regular stunts are converted to bar humping, huge one footers, and butt scrubs. Gear can range from motocross gear (vintage and modern) to Gucci suits and hillbilly wear with options like making your own tears into your jersey and actually using duct tape on anything. Chest protector (bulky and backwards) and helmet (open face and visor altitude) selections, how many buckles on your boot you want loose, and goggle strap positioning and hell, even non moto attire, would be acceptable like a rider dressed as a bowling pin are just some examples I have in mind. Untamed is more of a game about showing off than actual handling and racing action. Goon mode would be a perfect way to capitalize on the showing off part of the game or at least make it a mini game in some way.
That's what is on my mind.....
