Ross is the KYB expert, but I’m sure he knows Showa too.
On my last bike, I ordered a Gold Valve kit and the correct springs from Race Tech and installed it myself watching YouTube videos. I gave them all my info and what I thought needed fixing, and they sent me the specs. It was fun learning how to take everything apart, build shim stacks, and put it all back together. If I didn’t like the result, they would have sent me different settings, but they nailed it first try. I highly recommend trying this, and between shipping and labor, it saved me a ton of money and taught me new skills. I just got a 2024 KX450 and used ML’s video to swap out a fork spring without draining the oil. I also added additional oil to each fork. The front end feels great now, but I haven’t raced it yet, only ridden smoother practice tracks. If I feel like I need to revalve it, I’ll go the do-it-yourself gold valve kit again.
Before you blow a ton of money on a revalve, try getting the correct spring rate first. In my experience, spring rate and oil volume is 90% of the battle, and is cheap and easy to do. The OEM spent a ton of time creating the valve stack in your fork, and there is no guarantee that an aftermarket company can improve it. On my first ride on my new bike, the front end rode low in the stroke and was nervous. The changes I made got rid of the twitchiness and I didn’t give up comfort or turning. I also installed a stiffer shock spring.
As an added benefit, I now have all the tools and knowledge necessary to perform regular maintenance on my forks. No matter how great your valving is, the performance decreases as the oil breaks down and gets dirty.
Factory Connection. They have developed their intake questions to help get the info they really need . Even if You exaggerate in some areas. Without having a person watching You that knows suspension, or watching video. People can often confuse a setup that is too soft as being too stiff.
A friend was working at FC in NH for a while. He was telling me that Ziggy still personally writes every setup for every set of suspension that goes through them. All of the specs for parts, valveing , etc.
I've run FC stuff on all but one of my bikes . All Honda's. Since I'm a lot bigger than average ( 6'9" 240-310#'s B Motocross), getting my suspension done is a must. And might be easier to make better since stock is so far off for me. But I've had bikes I hated until I got the suspension done. I'm hoping they get into MTB stuff.
Well , I literally just discovered that Andreani USA is less than 1/2 mile from my office in Hendersonville NC. I wish i had known 3-4 days ago and i wouldnt have taken my suspension to the jerks at MVR in Hickory. I will be picking KTM Suspension up from them tomorrow evening and they will never see me again. Im going to take my YZ250F forks and shock for service at Andreani next week. Really nice people that have an amazing suspension shop!

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Johny at Art of War is just in Moorseville. I would talk to him too.
What’s up with mvr?
You can PM me and I will tell you how my experience went with him yesterday morning. I wish i had just taken my stuff and rolled the fk out of there.
Your right. I’m dumb.
I think Im going to try a set of the works KYB on my next KTM. That shit is sexy. I’ve had WP pro stuff and Ohlins, time to try something else.
PM sent.
I have been happy with PR2.
Bob with Pro-Action in Warren Ohio, is better than the Beaver Falls location in my opinion.
Podium Works is a good mom and pop shop as well.
Too bad I didn’t read your earlier post before you took your stuff to MVR. I could have saved you the trouble.
What's gone off the rails there?
I used to hear good things and had positive experiences myself but it's been several years. Like I mentioned earlier, I know he's had some health issues and his wife passed from cancer, so I'm wondering if any of that factors into it.
Let’s just say I knew him a little bit before he started his business and a little bit about how he started said business and leave it at that.
Thanks, that explains everything.
Like I said, I'd heard and had good experiences - just curious as to what changed.
Thanks, I really feel like the guys around the corner here at Andreani will be top notch. My KTM suspension seems fine, but MVR will never see me or my buddy again, thats for sure. Lesson learned. Im over it now, and moving forward.
That's the reason I originally went with Race Tech, but I got to a point where there was no time for me to try and do it myself. I ended up finding a Race Tech shop and had them install the parts I ordered and do some Cerokote/DLC.
Anyone have any feedback for Turbo Speed Tuning in Ohio or Enduro Engineering in Michigan?
Pit Row
REP. Don’t think anyone is doing as much testing and development as Mark and his crew.
I had FC do my 07 RM250 fork and it came out fine, obviously a popular bike that they have years of experience valving. Shortly after I had them do my 20 RMZ 250 fork, not a popular bike and they took two swings and got big misses on that one with the same rider info. Ended up doing it myself with input from the guys on the TT suspension forum, big changes but they're working great now. My point, if your bike is a popular race bike most shops will have a good knowledge base, if not maybe you would be better off working thru the issues with someone local.
ART OF WAR
I’m really impressed with the work TAGMX did on my forks. They also got them turned around in time for a race the next weekend. 100% the only guys who touch them from now on…
Man, I agree. They’re good with answering the phone and answering questions. It’s a 3 hour drive to their shop, but totally worth it. They are experts at Cerakoting as well. I haven’t had a chance to ride my bike yet, but they did the suspension and put the engine back together for me. Really happy with them.
I just rode a buddy’s CRF with new art of war suspension. Smoothest bike I’ve ever ridden, hands down.
