Anyone else install this filter kit on their bike.  I put this on, because it looked like a better design then the OEM filter that came on my CRF450 and it removes the backfire screen, but I wasn't expecting the difference it made in power.  Not sure how much Horsepower it adds, but my Butt Dyno says it's definitely a noticeable difference, only drawback is it's expensive for a filter and a bit of a pain in the ass to get those 4 little bolts lined up to attach, but damn! it turned my Honda into a ripper.  Products pg54-scaled

Got one on my 23. Definitely noticeable without the backfire screen

Trick part.

If you're looking for a cheaper option, the backfire screen on the CRF's is very easily removed by taking out one screw with a shorty Philips head screwdriver.

I agree, I thought I read somewhere that the Powerflow kit filter is made of some kind of fireproof material, so that's why it's ok to remove the backfire screen and the stock isn't.  Anyways!  it's always cool to find a product that makes a very noticeable difference.  I never thought my Honda was lacking horsepower, but I'll never refuses a good power increase.

I've been removing the screen on Hondas since 2004.

Ive examined the filters and have never been able to find evidence of a backfire making it up to the filter. No burnt smell or soot, or anything of the sort.

It feels like an 'abundance of caution thing'.

Just curious, I don't recall my KTM 350 XCF Factory edition having a backfire screen, but went and looked and realized it does. do all the other 450 manufacturers come with Backfire screens also.  Getting rid of that thing makes a hell of a difference on a Honda, totally changes the characteristics of the motor and response.  Awesome part, I'm going to order one for the KTM, just because I was so impressed, that 350 factory edition is already a snarly beast, looking forward to seeing how it works on that bike.

I agree from off idle snap all the way to the ovr rev. You can feel the difference. Comes on the pipe quicker and runs cleaner all the way through.  The filter is smaller with a different shape. I polished it real good with white diamond slum polish. It make the part slicker, smoother.  For a 125 it’s a must have part. IMG 5797 0.jpeg?VersionId=DILUXZc2bOep4qfTFJApwYL

Curious if regular twin airs fit (specifically for a 22 yz250f)?

I would love to get the kit but don’t wanna buy a new stack of filters. I am not overly concerned about the special fire retarded features.

Twin air makes filters for stock set ups and powerflow kits.

I’m 90% sure they are different shaped filters on all bikes. I know on my KX, they are for sure different than the normal twin air.

They make both for a 04 cr125. They should fit 02-07 cr125.

On the YZ, no. It will not use the same filters. The stock filters are flat and fit sandwiches between the backfire screen and the white plastic cage that clamps in via the two metal tabs at the front of the airbox. The power flow set up replaces the backfire screen and filter cage. The filters are the dome style with the lip that wraps around the filter cage and then squeezes that between the cage and the new seating surface.

Basically it turns the Yamaha filter into the same style cage-in-filter set up that pretty much everyone else uses.

For most KTM's, you just buy the OEM filter cage from the 2-stroke that is equivalent to your bike, like same gen frame and air box.  It will be the same as your 4-stroke filter cage but with no screen.

As for needing the "fire resistant" filter when removing the screen, I have seen exactly 1 bike catch the filter on fire from a backfire in over 25 years of these 4-strokes.  And that bike had intake valve clearance tightened up so bad that it had to be push started.  So it was spitting back through the carb very bad.   Rider stalled the bike and was in heavy sand so he could not push start it.  He just kept whacking away at the kicker and of course the bike coughed and spit back through the carb.  Next thing he knew his ass was smoldering and smoke was coming up around him.  Oh, and that bike still had the "backfire screen" in place.. lol

I installed one on my 22 CRF 450 and just rode it Saturday for first time. it makes a big difference in throttle response which I thought was lacking on this bike. Although I wish I would have realized how easy the backfire screen came out I would have probably tried that first before spending the $300 but I have better throttle response now so.........

Been using these on Yamahas and Hondas for the past 5 years. Not sure about the horsepower gains but I sure do trust the seal better, both with the filter and wash cover on there.

Finally installed one on my 23' Crf 250. I had one on my Yamaha purely because that oem filter set up was garbage. I had no gripes about the stock set up it seemed to seal well enough, but I wanted to ditch the screen and have a better seal.

Happy to help. If you want a cheaper alternative, GYTR makes a similar product that uses molded plastic for the screen delete and the cage. It also comes with two filters and a high volume airbox cap. The Twin Air filters can be used on the gytr version, too. It’s $150 and Keefer has a nice write up wherein he says the performance is the same, just a matter of what materials and price you prefer.

I was just gonna ask if there was any advantage on a KTM over just doing the 2 stroke cage.

IMG 5799 1See my pic above that’s for 02-07 cr125. I don’t think a Ktm cage would hv more cross members. It works a great   Price was aprox 100 bucks I think.  Better than a pipe because it’s an increase everywhere.

Hard to see but the bottom of the filter is not as long.  More room for air to enter.  I later drilled 3 holes in air box on each side . A little more power there. IMG 5810 0
