With all of the debate over the proposed MXGP E series and whether or not eMotos should be allowed to race with ICE bikes...
Australia might put the whole debate to rest this weekend with the first round of the Pro MX Championship at Wonthaggi. They're allowing Starks/full-size eMotos in with the 250s (set at 48hp max) and 450s (set at 60hp max).
Will anyone enter on a Varg? Does anyone know?
If so, how will they do?
I'd sure like to see it.
I’d be interested to see if they last the moto , as the only real pro test I have seen was from Jake Nicols who got it to about 20 mins before it started to lose power
Newbie here.
So how would the governing body monitor the HP on these bikes?
Couldn't someone set it to 60hp, get the hole-shot then switch it back to 48 at some point? I thought they were thumb controlled?
It's all detailed in there, Stark app can lock max power for a given time, then officials can also download data from the bike after the race.
https://www.ma.org.au/licences-rules/rules/electric-machine-information/
So say you compete against 450 you can set it at 60 hp for the start then switch to lower map (and go back up to 60 if you want to).
Are all Pro MX races 25 min + 1 lap? I guess we will see them in national and amateur classes, pro... maybe a wildcard or two on a favorable track?
For sure we will see some official Stark riders in AUS SX and earlier than that Bogle and Zaragoza should race France SX tour, that will be a serious test as well.

where to watch,🤔
Does Australian Motocross Championship allow 250 and 500 2-stroke motocross bikes to compete in 250F and 450F classes, because if they do, then I'm OK with Electric bikes allowed to run.
Interesting, sounds like a competent computer expert could manipulate the data, which is probably why LL doesn't want them.
SX1 is 450 2 strokes or 4 strokes and that's where Stark will be.
MX1 is 300 2 strokes VS unlimited 4 strokes.
Veteran classes are free for all.
It will be interesting to see how they do.
It's live streaming on SBS, but you will need an Australian IP address

Wont last the deep prep motos. Seen it in happen already.especially if hot weather
Weather forecast is perfect for first round, 27°C (81°F), light winds, mostly sunny.
What The F**k?
I had No idea that MA had regressed from equivalency, to that sort of crap: Max. 150cc 2ts vs 250Fs, Max 300cc 2ts vs 450Fs
Checked 2023 rules, and Equivalency was still there.
This year, it's back to the Utter Bull S**t of Handicap Class rules.
It's just such a p**s poor regression.
It's disappointing, but the change is only for the Senior Australian Motocross Championships, they are still allowed in Supercross and Senior Competition Classes.
Is there a live timing link for it ?
Yes like nobody can hack a computer and it would never happen.
I was really hoping it was Run! what you've Brung, with these Australian MX Championships, but for whatever reason the governing bodies of MX series still seem to want to give 4 strokes every possible advantage over 2 strokes. I believe 4-strokes are the top of the heap as far as ICE MX engines are concerned, but I'd love to see Pro caliber riders riding 2-strokes up to 500cc's allowed to compete against the 4 strokes to see how they'd fair against them, would just make it more interesting to hear a Factory level 500 2T out there being ridden by a top level Pro. Anyways! this isn't a 2 Stroke vs 4 Stroke rant, there are just some of us older riders that love the beauty and sound of those 2 strokes we grew up on.
They could allow a 700 two stroke out there against the 450s and nobody is going to ride one for any reason other than publicity. In pro racing, results matter. Why handicap yourself with a bike that’s harder to ride fast, has had no chassis development specifically for the intended engine and has limited availability on top of all that? I love big bore two strokes.. I miss my CR500 and even YZ490 all the time.. but for pro racing, there’s no comparison to a 450.
Pit Row
Serious question, were there any pro riders on 2 strokes last year? Any of them on 2 strokes over 300cc?
Don't know why they changed the rules, well, at least veterans are still run what you brung, not sure what the rule is for amateurs below 30?
Can anyone confirm if all pro races are 25 min + 1 laps?
Loving the nostalgia of two strokes is fine but there is simply no chance that a two stroke of any capacity is going to be competitive at pro/national level against a modern 450F.
Pro riders race the equipment their sponsors pay them to race, nobody raced a Stark in the first round at Wonthaggi...
