From Spring a Ding at Oak Hill today. I think it shows how fast the older class was during their prime. I don't think facility training is helping these kids reach that elite speed.

Is anyone on that list considered elite or projected to be elite besides Towers?

Serious question, I don't recognize any other names but I'm also not balls deep into Amateur mx.

No a lot of the fast guys are missing. The back-to-back-to-back with Daytona, Freestone and Oak Hill may be a little much.

No knock on Short he is a badass.

I wouldn't say elite, but Hayes Edwards is the son of road racing legend Colin Edwards. The kid has gone from zero experience to pretty damn solid in a few years. There's also Jake Masterpool and Gavin Towers on that list.

It's really not about losing it as it is about the competition. You cant blame Shorty for the lack of competition, but that was an issue.

My kid was 6th overall and he hasn't ridden a dirt bike in over 2 months. Shorty was in a class all his own in the 35+ class. I mean when he came around I went and got a snow cone before the next guy came by. Texas has some fast vets but they weren't interested in this race. Not Shorty's fault just a fact.

Jake used to be faster than his brother but a back issues is an issue. Pretty fast family. Pretty awesome family. Politics have held them back.

Pardon me for having an opinion that doesn't align with some others. Lol.

Like Dave said, league of his own in +35. Skill dont go away. Mad props to Short for racing the pro class to give himself some competition.

Andrew Short is a class act. He did pretty well on his TSEC enduro debut as well! First place in AA.

Don't get why your post was down voted, maybe people think your suggesting he's at race pace as he was in his prime which wasn't your point lol.

Short not on a Honda?

He buys all his own everything now….so there is an honest endorsement for KTM from a kick ass rider.

Yeah it’s great to hear he wants to compete yet.  I always think of him on his MotoWorld RM125  where we learned his name. fighting to get good results, like the top 30 did back in the 125 days.  He did Great and made it .

Im used to it. All the forum pro lovers come at me because i bitch about "retired" pros cherry picking working mans classes. In reality, i respect them all and think their skills are something most will never ever have. I just want them to race with guys more their speed. Its funny how the fanboys come at me, but 90% of the people i talk to at tracks agree. Any non moto people i talk to about it ask why amatures would be racing people who were pros.

Short overcoming the things he has is an awesome thing too. Hes truly a bad ass.

Towers will be 20 in two months and is still racing amateur events.  Not exactly an elite level talent.   Although they are all a great time, to only amateur event that really matters and gets the turnout of all the elite riders in the country is Loretta Lynn’s.

That being said, good on Short for blowing off the cobwebs and showing the kids he’s still got some left in the tank.

Good on Shorty, spoke to him for a while in Arlington a few years back while he was racing Yamaha haha. Great guy, always a fan.
