Last year at this point in the Championship JS7 was down 11 points to CR22 and came
back to win the SX Championship. Who do you think will win the 2010 SX Championship? This is not about who is your favorite rider, but if you had to put a bet down in Vegas right now, who would it be?

this could get ugly,

If i were going to bet I would go with Dungey because if RV wins and Dungey comes in second, Dungeys current lead compared to last year gives Dungey a two race lead over what JS7 had to overcome last year - and as we all know, anything can happen and this increased the odds of RV and RD not coming in 1st and 2nd.

I also think both Ryans are more evenly matched speed wise this year compared to Reed and JS7 last year. If Dungey gets a holeshot and pulls a 6 second lead, RV can't run him down as easily as JS7 could catch Reed last year.

as a fan all we can do is hope that the Championship isn't decided until after the 450 main at Vegas

Although IMO RV is faster, he seems to ride a bit closer to the erratic edge than Dungey. I expect Dungey to continue to ride within himself and win the title just because I think RV's fire will put him on the ground one more time.

Its a great season though and I can't wait to see how things change again when Bubba and Reedy return.

I'm a big fan of both Ryans but I think my money would have to go with Dungey (sorry Uncle). RV has no room for error and we all know that even the best make mistakes in this sport. What I know for sure is it will be a great battle for the fans from here on out. This is the first in several years I won't be in Vegas for the finale and I'm already looking forward to seeing it on TV.

Best of luck to both of them.

I'm pulling for RV but if I was going to bet money the odds are in favor of RD.

No doubt, it would be RV. I think Dungey will show some more inconsistency and RV will get faster and keep his head on.

Villopoto is KILLING it right now. Even James acknowledged it.

It's been a great season, can't wait to see what happens with James and Reed back in the mix.

I think that who ever gets the hole shot will win races as they are so evenly matched. Even though RD's times are faster in the qualies and mains, RV is a more aggressive rider that does not hesitate to make split second decisions which works 90% of the time but when it doesn't we see what happens. Of course because RD hesitates more, he is less likely to run down his equal on the track.

I say in Vegas, the odds have to be on RD5 to take it all and if so its not because RV is not as good but because its to much of a deficit to recover from with out some help/mistakes from RD that are worse than RV's mistakes.

Shit i don't know! Its all good though, the Ryans are class acts and at the top of the world right nowSmile

I would bet on RV... simply because when James and Chad do return, there will be more guys in the mix and he has more experience running with those guys and he has everything to gain.

I would rather be in RV's spot than RD's personally... waaay less pressure, imho.

Regardless of which one wins it, they really deserved it. Hopefully they go into Vegas so close in points that the winner takes it.

My .02.

I'd bet on RD right now. That 17 pt cushion is huge.

Speed is essentially equal. Assuming no more BIG crashes/pts losses, RV has to win. RD can let the win come to him the next time he gets a start.

I actually would go for RV to be honest. He is going to have to ride pretty much mistake free and get as many wins in the bag as he can , but he seems like he is on a mission right now! Looks like he's riding pissed off!

One other thing that i think may help RV here is , that RD has a problem of having little melt downs every once in a while when the pressure starts to build. I think he's matured a little over the past couple years , but i still see glimpses of it here and there.

The tighter the points get , I think it would favor RV.

Either way.....I wish them both the best of luck and it continues to be a great battle. Each of them stays healthy and fights to the end is what i'm hoping for.

if it was to continue like this, RD looks like he would be the winner avoiding any big mechanical failures or getoffs. BUT with chad and james coming back into the mix, and dungey getting stuck behind canard like he did, i dont see him getting around js7 or cr22, but thats just me (yes i remember the beginning of the season) its just the way i see it, and i see rv behing able to get up there with the top two, and RD not as much, plus with chad being on a kawi now....

"let RV by!" ...just saying.

Its going to be tight, but my money is on Dungey. Get your tickets for Vegas now, because that place is going to blow up on the night of the race.

first rider to make a mistake in a main will loose the title.

I think there are too many races left for RV to sweep with out a mistake.

I'm going to have to go with Dungey although I originally (before the season started) said RV would win the title this year. I just really figured he could beat James and Chad over the course of the series. I did not predict Dungey would be riding this well. I figured he would do well but not this good. My original prediction for 2010 was RV JS CR RD AS JG. With the points being what they are now though, I think Dungey can hang on to the lead and wrap the title up this year.

Its funny how people think that it is more likely for villo to make a mistake in the final stretch. Don't forget Dungey threw the win away when he had a ten second lead, he wasn't trying to avoid a lapper either. Villo had the bad luck with the dirt in the silencer so he paid the price but both crashes seemed equal to me as far as making a mistake in the main. I think Dungey is due for another little mistake that will punt him off the podium. I agree its hard to just win out if thats what villo has to do, but it is equally as hard to keep composed and stayin second every race or better for dungey. I think the number crunching was more apparent when we were talking about reed last year.

I kind of agree with what you are saying, but it's about the circumstances right now.

RD has pressure to finish solid (podium), which he has proven he can do pretty consistently. RV has to win.

Woody...IF I HAD to bet...I won't bet on this series. Both of these guys control their own destiny right now. They have both made mistakes this year and in the past. It's possible for either one to blow it.

With RD having things go his way early on, he's in a better position.

IF you were in a series like this one and you could have RV's stats and points or RD's, which would you choose? I'll take the points lead any day.

Yeah points lead is good but somethin about RV's instincts to win has got to scare any rider out there that has to line up against him. He may not be on fire all the time but he usually goes back to school until he gets that fire back if its missing. Hes got the momentum and that crazy look in his eye when hes down on the line. Villo was draggin his feet a little at the beginning of the season, but I think the game face will be on for the rest of the season

Tough call for me cause I feel the same way about the Ryans that I did about RC and Kdub. I like them both and am happy for the winner and disappointed for the loser. These two are gonna be seeing a lot of each other for a long time. I hope they maintain a "friendly" rivalry and I say, Good Luck to both of them. If you really twisted my arm I'd have to say that when the going gets rough, yer nephew gets the nod.

Theres no room for error for either. RV2 got nothing to lose right now so go for all the wins he can get. RD5 got to worry about his points every weekend. I like both also so it going to be good racing to the ebd.

I wouldn't mind seein' Villopoto take this. But either way, just give us some damn good racing. I can't wait to see RV and Stewie go head to head. I've got my spot by the fence waitin'...
