Do any of you guys know where Lupino, Koch, Paturel or Mitch Evans are at? This is only my second year REALLY following the series and last year those guys were in the top 10 and nowhere this year. Is Guadagnini injured?

Lupino signed to the new Ducati project as their test rider and will race in Italian Championship.

Koch and Paturel are with the teams they were with last year but will race just the European GP’s. Nobody seems to know with Evans, don’t think he has a ride. Guadagnini, got injured in pre-season, some vertebrae, shoulder and some other injuries I believe but he will be back at some point this season I would imagine.

Impressions from someone who watched their first full MXGP event other than just the highlights:

Track looked awesome. Wish our tracks were prepped like that!

Refreshing just having the race called and not a ton of produced segments shoved in the race, or pre-planned talking points obviously rehearsed, and that he could just ask for a replay and it happened relatively quickly.

That being said, I think having a 2nd person in booth would make it easier for a non hard-core GP fan to watch, something to break up the monotony (but still great) of nothing but Malin and his high speed cadence.

Picture quality and camera work is better by far in AMA, would also make it much easier to follow being able to tell who is who, couldn't read their number plates until they zoomed in.

Mx2 racing was great! Mxgp was a bit of a snoozer this weekend.

Lupino has retired from racing GP’s. Guadagnini is injured, Evans didn’t find a team, Paturel and Koch only do the European rounds I believe

As i said in the other thread, zoomed in shots mean you miss everything, and Malin will have one thing to talk about, in the US you can have 4 guys , with 1 second between each, and you might get 3 of them in shot every few turns if you are lucky.

The long shots mean you can see tons more of the action, how can you do SX , and not have Jett and Webb in the same shot when there is only 3 secs between them, yet they manage it week in week out.

No wonder they have to go to filler bollocks all the time.

And the one time they didnt, and they showed the battle for the last quali spot a few rounds ago, Weege was going nuts about it being the best action... its like that every week, but you follow the leader and then go to a break the instant he crosses the line.

No sport is 'better' for being zoomed in.

Did i pick up from the interview that Geerts went down in the waves, the Team Guy said he made a small mistake, and Malin said he went down in the waves, so ir wasnt the first turn incident that took him out.

He got up from the first turn crash and went down again later in the lap

Been a long time since he raced and he got hurt again around Christmas time. There’s a good video behind the scenes with him and the team over the past couple of weeks and it gives a good insight as to where both the team and they think he is at this moment in time. He says at the end, ‘I’m ready to race, not ready to win just yet’ see where he is in a few weeks

Jago's gonna Jago.

And is Lucas Coenen going to be the next Geerts in MX2. ?

I was impressed with Kay De Wulf, he looked a lot less sketchy than usual, i think Malin missed that he took the Overall by passing Haarup, and not by Coenen lobbing it .

I think its going to be a long year for Adamo, he was a suprise choice last year(no more than Vialle was , to be fair) but he doesnt seem to have the outright speed that Vialle had in his second season.

Props to Ben Watson too, going down trying to stick a pass on Coldenhoff , and Vlaanderen, on a track where he destroyed his foot in MX2 , be ends up missing out on  a top 10 in a 3 way tie..  just like MX2 days where he was always 4th. Beta looks a better bike this year.

A lot of respect for Herlings, but he hasn't been the FMOTP in years.. Tbh I would be very surprised if he was still able to run his 2018/2021 pace on a consistent basis after all his set backs and injuries he had over the last years. If he stays healthy this year, he will have these 1-2 incredible rides when he feels it and nobody has a chance on that day, but he won't have anything for Gajser or Prado in the long run is my guess.

Why aren’t they going to the track anymore? From what I’ve heard it only gets used for the GP. Will it end up in the abandoned & forgotten track thread in the future?
