I have heard Red Bull is not moving forward with event.
No its not.. Not until the SX/MX/SMX calendar thins out a bit. No room for the event after 31+ races a year.
They should make one of the SMX playoff rounds a straight rhythm. 4 wide at Charlotte drag strip.
Funny.. The dream from the start for that event was to have a 3-4 wide track. We looked at that venue in North Carolina but being an offseason event we wanted to keep it easy in California.

I wasn't able to watch the monster energy cups live, as I wasn't a fan of the sport at the time but looking at videos, I think smx is the closest to that. And how were fans able to win $1 million? That's a really good idea to get the fans involved like that(I am talking about one of the times eli won and a fan won the million, its on the all things motocross channel).

That's awesome. Straight Rhythm produced some of the best races I've ever seen. I can only imagine what 3-4 wide would produce.
Much rather watch RBSR than SMX. Ive watched all the past SR's on YouTube more than once.
I agree! I’ve only missed 1 RBSR. I’ve been to all rest and it was one of the most fun events to go to! Wish it would come back in lieu of SMX
They should crown Roczen the 2024 Straight Rhythm champ for conquering Glendale's mile long rhythm lanes.
Maybe this is unrealistic, but you would be the guy to know for sure.
With the final round of SMX being in vegas and the track being there.. dirt.. riders in town..infrastructure.. etc. Would it be feasible to hold the straight rhythm event the weekend after the final? This is assuming the final round is in Vegas going forward.

Mec was my favorite race of the year. Dungey forgetting the joker lane and slapping his own head when villopoto reminded him is one of the top 10 greatest moto moments imo.
Imagine if they could make a track wide enough to have a 22 spot starting gate and 22 riders all drag race . Run qualifiers and than a main event with 10 or 15 passes and points totaled up for overall positions. I know it would have to be insanely wide for each racer to have their own lane.
Maybe 10 riders at a time might be more realistic. With some sort of elimination process each run. Start off with whatever the max # of racers is. Than after the first passes, the riders in last get eliminated, then restacked , and maybe you drop 2 riders the next round. Until you get down to 10 final guys . Maybe have an LCQ made up of all the guys who get dropped to take another rider or 2. And then do a best combo of 3 runs.
Still You might need the track to be over 150' wide to give each guy a 15' lane. So it would be very difficult to do. It might be more impressive logistically than the racing itself though. But still it could be wild to see. Maybe do it in the dunes and it would turn into a crazy rough drag race by the end. Start out almost flat and wide open. And in the end it would be crazy deep whoops . If You did it like that, You could have riders from Off road, MXGP, etc. and might be able to put together enough guys along with the logistics to pull it off.
But just imagine how intense it would be if every race was a 45-55 second battle to the first turn!? Maybe You just get rid of the defined lanes, make an extra wide track and let em rip.
Remember the start of the race "On Any Sunday".... Yeah, no!
Until 1 guy gets off balance on a jump face or woops, yeets himself into the guy next to him, and so on and so on till they reach the outside guy lol.

I know its kinda unrealistic. More of a wild idea. I think there would be a lot more separation if You had 10 guys than when You have 2. They set up the riders so they match up closely in speed and make exciting racing. Even in a short start straight in SX You have guys separate. A normal track is about 20' wide or so. Make each rider have 15' wide lanes and You could do it with a track 175' wide with room to spare. It would be an insane creation . Imagine seeing a mile long , 175' wide track? Just the track alone would attract attention. They could even run off road trucks side by side on a track like that.
Monster could do one and bring out their truck guys, MX,off road, ATV, UTV rally, etc. and call it the Monster Mash. Worlds collide and they find out what the fastest form of off road racing is. It would be like a live video game. Or like a condensed version of a race like the Baja 1000. The class with the fastest winner wins the title of fastest form of off road racing. They would have to run fewer trucks per round so they had room.
When I forget to shut YouTube off I always find srltraight rhythm playing when I come back in which I appreciate. Hope we see it again in the future.
Hell, straight rhythm is way better action than SMX, without a doubt. After an entire season of SX and MX, straight rhythm is awesome. Something different and way more fast paced. I love it. SMX is nothing new. Same old thing we watched half the year already in a new location.
Real bummed to not see RBSR. It's a fun event where the guys who truly love to ride can shine. Seeing the one-off smokers and gear makes it that much better.
Not to mention, RBSR is a great way to introduce new fans to the sport. It's easy to follow, it looks good on TV, etc.
Overall, we're worse off without it.
