Apparently Deegs get a written warning for ghosting his bike 5 ft. But when Sexton did it at Salt Lake City last year, he got nothing. And when Jett did it after Moto 2 at Ironman last summer he did the same thing. Thoughts?
I said that in another thread that Deegan is getting backlash for it but when golden boy did it last summer nobody batted an eye
There were definately comments on here calling him unprofessional......
Jett just came off the bike at slow speed, same with sexton. Deegan did rev the bike and launched it which i understand could be dangerous. Still think a fine is fine, the ghostride jump was cool. Wish he´d done it over the finish line tho
Apparently, the rules do not apply the same to all. Selective enforcement and bias, that's the AMA

I’m sure there was. I just don’t remember it lol
No big deal. I am not a Deegs fan, but it was still an epic move following in his families tradition that HAD to be done....
3 day ban! Lol
I'd be willing to bet there had already been discussions with the Deegan camp not to try and repeat what Brian had done in the past.
Woah....that was every bit equal to what Deegs did, I honestly don't remember did Hunty get a formal warning?
I don't think so.
Does the AMA run GNCC? Does Stu Baylor get fined weekly for this?
genuine questions, I have no idea
I would thank the AMA for something to wipe my ass with.
Yes, it's run under AMA Amateur Competition Rules.
I don't think Stu ever got fined that I heard about.
Has Vince Friese ever had a penalty?
the only thing consistent with AMA penalties is the lack of consistency.
Bullshit, it was absolutely controlled and will only happen once, the first win…
Pit Row
I know it won't fit the golden boys get a pass narrative but AP ghosted his bike after his win as well with no written warning..
I've given up on understanding AMA penalties but was there a 'proximity to people' issue maybe?
Can't remember Sexton's but could they claim that all the others weren't 'aimed' at anyone in particular? Like they were more controlled or something?.. Although I've only seen it once but seem to remember Deegan's had a tuff block involved and near the mechanics? I could be really off the mark there though..
Should mention I'm totally against any warnings or fines for any of them unless it does put someone in some sort of danger
I heard they requested the penalty, it’s good for branding.
He wasn't fined but was told to stop so I guess thats a warning ?
Seems to be a surprisingly common misconception these days, but that ain't how the ol' 1a works.
He looked lackluster in the doing; like it wasn't his idea. Should have passed on that move. Lame
It's to give Brian something to bitch about
If it was me... I d take all that info.. data etc.. and have an nasty attorney (one that's so bad his dog and all his clients hate him/her) and send them a letter stating... make this go away. Or....
Clearly there is a double std. Don't let someone screw you. Stand up.
BTW.. if done correctly with enough information... the AMA will not stand a chance.
Wait I thought Deegan was one of the media darlings and was being catered to. Now he’s public enemy #1 and being treated unfairly? Y’all can’t have both!
Calm down he got a written warning... It's not like they docked points or anything
And they're always double standards as to the way they look at things all the time, look at Breece getting docked 2 positions for something that apparently all the riders have been doing forever in dumping the clutch on the sight lap
It was weak. His Dad did it over the finish line. If he was going to do it, should have done it right.
Post a reply to: Deegan penalty warning from Arlington, but not Jett or Sexton last year?
