That is a lot of miles. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do to drive so much?

We do ag and heavy equipment transport all over the US. At one point i was going from Michigan to florida 3 to 4 times a month. Over a 8 month span. I think i put 110k on it in a year.

Born and raised SoCal but I lived in Southfield and East Lansing (MSU) for a number of years. Some awful winters in the 90s.

I live by jackson. About 40 min from east lansing. We farm now and dont do nearly as much trucking but we bought a kenworth w900 semi last year so were probably going to but our big boy pants on and do some lowboy work with it.

I loved fishing for pike around there. Watching lightening hit the water and the ice break in spring on the lake, precious memories.

It all comes down to what you want to do. If your hauling alot get a diesel. If its limited heavy hauling go with a gas truck. Gm has the 6.6 gas engine and ford has the 7.3. If you just need to pull a small camper/car hauler look at a half ton truck. Our opinions are all going to biased. Like me i say buy a 2024 d-max, truck says the f250, dirtyhead says the toyota lol.

Your right, just want to buy a truck that's versatile and looks nice.  Never actually ordered a truck before, so it's going to be fun when it comes in.

One thing i will say is its better to go over kill than under. If you think you want to get a toy hauler in the future just buy a 3/4/ 1 ton right off the bat. I know the manufacturers advertise the half tons pulling 12k blah blah blah. They are not meant to do it. Also when buying a truck throw the whole fuel economy thing out the window. They all get shit milage, gas or diesel.

Nobody has ever bought a truck or tractor and thought it had too much power.

Come on out with that toad. You're talking campgrounds and I'm talking Baja, which you have zero miles of experience. Mic drop.

To regroup, all I commented on was being able to build a more capable Tundra for less than the total cost of a Raptor. The rest of this is typical vital, unrelated extranneous commentary

Man I love how a thread turns into two people having a pissing contest anymore. Not sure why a diesel pickup makes the list if you’re not pulling a huge race trailer or toyhauler? I opted for the f150 with the 3.5 EB and man that things moves. It also pulls my 16’ trailer no problem.  All the creature comforts also. Hopefully hang onto this one a while. Fuel mileage is good but not as good as it could be for me personally. I drive it like a race car. I could see myself going moto van with the ecoboost down the road someday.

For what its worth, my first post is based on 28 years of moto.. i only suggested the f150 because you listed a few other half tons but left out the most capable half ton..

I agree, those Raptors are super cool and I might still go and look at them.  There was a reason, I didn't consider or put it on this list, but nothing bad, just didn't fit a criteria I was looking for, but I might be able to overlook that.  I looked at a new Shelby Truck that had 750HP up in Kamloops Canada, seemed unreasonable, but I think that's what drew me to it.

What sold me: going riding with a buddy, bikes are in the back of his Raptor. We go deep in the desert on whooped out ATV/SxS trail going 30-40 mph and the bikes are barely moving in the back, suspension soaking it up like nothing.

They are extremely quiet and smooth on the road and have a crazy amount of features. More features you can unlock using ForScan (3rd party computer program that allows you to make adjustments and run diagnostics on your truck)

I feel you really get your moneys worth with these trucks. So damn fun.

I don't even want a pickup but you're selling me. LoL! I'd rather go the van route but man, you're convincing

A van has it's advantages, your bikes and gear are out of sight.

Haha man, I didn't know I could enjoy a vehicle so much. I've converted 2 of my friends already, working on a couple more.

A van is the ultimate moto rig for sure, I just can't justify one when I ride once every week or two usually. I did just buy an enclosed trailer to drag along to the track, going to get it set up with A/C and some cabinets.

I have been trying to convince my wife to swap her SUV for a Sprinter or Transit. She works remote so her car sits for weeks at a time. My pitch is it's the perfect road trip vehicle with kids (we don't even have kids yet lol). Having the Raptor and a van would be the ultimate combo.

Problem is that thieves are becoming more aware that cargo vans are usually carrying valuable items (tools, merchandise, dirt bikes etc.) Now they just lift the whole damn van with everything inside, especially in hotel parking lots along the major interstates.

Well, I'm encouraged by the poll, because the truck I ordered is popular.  Picking the right truck is difficult these days, because fuel mileage, looks, reliability, towing and comfort all come into play and there's no such thing as the perfect truck, plus thanks to inflation they're not cheap these days.   I threw the Nissan Titan and the Cybertruck in there just to see what people thought of them, but that damn Cybertruck is so friggen ugly I'd feel like a complete nerd driving that thing around.  I saw the exact truck I ordered in person and drove it and it's stunning in person and the interior is amazing, but that one had a Sun roof and I didn't want that, so I custom ordered it instead about 3 weeks ago and will take 3 to 5 month to get to the dealership, plus this dealership has lifetime oil changes for free, 5 of them a year, plus a powertrain warranty for life also, so it was kind of a no brainer.  Pretty damn excited waiting for it to arrive
