West Texas Dirt Biking

Hey fellas,

I have a great career opportunity that could possibly take me and my family to West Texas in the Midland area.

Does anyone know the dirt bike scene? What can I expect?

Not much in the area. Dry hard ground. Hot as hell summers. Windy often. Old oilfield towns and tired cities.

There may be some off-roading spots in the big bend region.

Long time West Texas mx’er. Midland has a great track with good folks. Public practice every Saturday or join the club. Andrews (about 40 miles north) another great track open to the public ever Sunday. Other than the series you posted the only other track that actually races is one right outside of Lubbock that races Saturday nights thru the Summer. MX has been on life support in this part of the state for quite awhile now. However, offroading is great but all private clubs.

There’s also the Outback Track near Stanton about 25mns East of Midland off I-20. It’s a large riding area usually open each day of the week.

Yep, forgot all about Outback! Epic after a rain but get out there early to beat the drunks!

TSCEC is a great racing circuit for enduro, it's mostly if not all West TX focused now.

Reach out to Cole Kirkpatrick. Lots of racing and private property in west Texas, I think, and Cole and his dad are pretty tuned in.

Eh, Cole mostly runs private property single track experiences nowadays in UT, TX, and NM.  I'd be a bit surprised if he could hook up vitards with West TX motocross being that he lives in DFW and most of what I see he does is trail oriented.

Now that being said, Cole is the fastest dude I've ever seen on a test outside of Dante Oliveira, unreal buttery fast speed.

Not the best place for Moto but great woods riding. Permian Basin Motorcycle Association (PBMA) about 1.5 to 2 hrs to the PBMA lease. Best bet is to ride the TSCEC series in my opinion. it is the local enduro series, close to world class trail riding in the area, but it is all private clubs, pay about 1k a year or so to ride. And truly world class woods riding east of midland in cloudcroft, New Mexico too

Isn't there some FU facility or something? Weve had some pretty fast kids come from that way wearing their gear.
