Which cage are you using?  Seems like that might be the way to go.  I started working on my new bike yesterday.  I pulled the plug out of the top of the air box and ripped the foam off the back side of the left number plate to try to improve flow.

I'm using the JKop one, seen DCMX has one also. You can stick your hand in there and pull the filter nice and pretty around the cage with the screen gone.

Go ahead and rip the shit out of the exhaust, you will be disappointed if you ride it choked up like that.

Did your frame get flagged?

They FDM came out the day I was supposed to pick up the bike, so I had to wait for them to get the kit before I could pick the bike up.  I have a connection at Pro Circuit and got a good deal on the stainless exhaust system, so I just bit the bullet and bought it.  I went on the Race Tech website, and they recommended stock fork springs, but a 6.0kg shock spring (same spring weight FC put on my ‘19) so I ordered the spring yesterday.  Everything is supposed to be here by Friday, so with any luck I’ll get the exhaust and shock spring installed and try my new bike out on Sunday.  Spent all day yesterday taking everything apart and greasing.

So if I switch to a Twin Air filter, do I still need to use a filter cage with it?  I looked on Rocky Mountain, and I saw the filter, but didn’t see a cage inside it.

I see the Baylor brothers had a very successful first outing at this weekends GNCC, both on 24 KX450s. Stu 2nd and his brother Grant 3rd.

3 hours on a destroyed course at their pace in no joke. I don't think Stu's bike at this point has anything more than just some bolt on parts. Grant may have a little more of a trick bike coming from the Babbitts team.

You would still use the stock filter cage with the twin air filter they have listed. It does dome out more then the stock one.

I have cages made that some teams and fellow test riders are using-

simple - strong backfire screen removal cage  .

new one is in the works as well - should be ready next week .

They used an airbox very similar to the 2019-2023 on their bikes

Now we’re talking! JkopMx I have one of your original ones for the stock filter. Does your new one protrude out (domed) to fit the Twin Air Filter? If so, save me one.

IMG 1859IMG 1857IMG 1856Temp quick fix for breaking side panel, there’s no backing and squeezing the bike breaks the panel.

Old exhaust can grommet, slightly longer bolt and a backing sleeve (old car drum brake piece, shortened)… wallered out some rubber so bolt sinks in.

Obv much better solutions, 3D printed piece that molds to back of panel would be ideal but this will work until carbon piece from CMT gets here.

Has anyone else had the panel break at this location?

Forgive me if this is basic knowledge but what system is that? The 24 Air Filter system is one of the key things keeping me from buying one.

That's the Twin Air powerflow system.  Thanks above for sharing the installation video.  Definitely a cleaner design than what they came out with.  I wonder if KTM has IP or something on the airbox fastening mechanism?

Seems like the power flow system is a waste of time and money. A simple new cage and twin air filter do pretty much the same thing. Groves for the filter don't bother me and they function fine.

You don’t need a cage unless you want one.  The stock cage works with Twin Air.

I think too many people are stressing about things that do not even need to be stressed about. There are no sealing issues at all with this bike. Unless, you don’t put the filter in the cage correctly and most aftermarket filters assist any kind of issue. Take out the grommet, remove the baffles in the stock silencer, or get an aftermarket silencer and it’ll be more than we all need, again. This bike is literally amazing, and will treat anyone well.

Like this? 😃 They are on my website and available to order. Fits Twin Air domed filters. I ordered a DT1 filter as well to check fitment. We also have the flat ones for stock filters. You can use a flat one too with the Twin Air filter but the filter does still suck in a little when you hit the throttle.

The Twin air filters have a hole in the center for traditional mounting. Won't dirt get sucked through the hole where the bolt/waser would normally be? Or does some sort of plug come with the cage?

You may be referring to the old style filter. The filter on the 24 does not have holes in the center.

I gotcha. Use the OE style Twin Air filter, not the traditional big domed style.

But not sure I like the idea of running the Twin Air "non" flame retardant filter without the screen. Only the filter in the powerflow kit is flame retardant according to TA, not the OE style.

Finally got a ride with all the baffling removed from stock exhaust and wow what a difference it makes. Probably more gains available from aftermarket exhaust but for anyone wanting to save a few bucks its definitely worth it.

I had a PC pipe and silencer on order anyway, so I tried removing the baffle and screens last night.  I was able to cut the baffles out, but couldn’t figure out how to remove the screens, so the whole muffler got tossed in the trash.  I took my 25% off coupon to Harbor Freight and picked up the swivel sockets I’ll need to change out the head pipe.  FedEx just notified me that my package from PC will get dropped off today.  I have everything greased, put on my heavier shock spring last night and added 50ml of oil to each fork, and will put the pipe on tonight.  I can’t wait to take my new whip out for a spin tomorrow!

You just need to grab a hold of the screens and rip them out like your mad at them. I took a drill bit and stuck it in the screen. The screen gets wrapped up in the bit and comes right out.

anyone got a pic of the twin air filter installed?  Im trying to figure out how much of the thick foam area I should leave sticking out past the cage..

can't seem to pull it all the way through or get an even amount around it. theres kind ofa  line around the filter, wondering if thats where its supposed to stop

...yes im overthinking it.

The endcap seem to have some white silicone around it. Do you need to replace that aswell when you remove the endcap?

I used some RTV on mine. You can just remove endcap and get to the screens.

Nah, removed both screens and baffle in the end cap. And I wouldn't stress about the silicone on the end cap, it is just a very thin bead and mine sealed just fine without putting new stuff on.
