Look, there won’t be another new RMZ or any updates. Suzuki’s endgame will be to cancel this motorcycle and further sizing down, probably closing shop within 5-10 years.

I'd liked to know how many bikes they are importing. Are they cutting it close to the homologation rule?

If they drop under 400, HEP and BarX will be forced to find new manufacturers.

HEP has a deal with Suzuki through 2025. After that who knows.

That’s a good point. Of course the hope is that I’m wrong 😎

Not quite certain about homologation, but if it is qualified this year isn't it good for four years? I also often wonder if a maker could make a motocrosser and 400 total of them with the different engine size an optional package at the time of purchase to get around the 400 of each size thing? Like 250 is the standard motor but the 400 could be an optional package with obvious settings changes of that model.

You don't think that at least 40 states out of the 50 in the U.S. aren't selling 10 Rmz's each to hit that 400 number ? Lol

Suzuki may not be selling alot of rmz's but I would be shocked if they weren't selling at least 3 times the homologation rule at the very low end. Think about it,that would be less than 30 bikes per state!

Suzuki walked out on moto gp with very little notice and with little respect for many contractual obligations.
I really don’t think their contract with HEP means much to them if they decide not to make MX bikes anymore.

They don't even have to sell 400 bikes.

Suzuki sends hep and bars bikes plus some amateur riders bikes to a dealer and i Guess they would count

I think you’re missing the word “out” in there.

The 2018 with A-kit suspension and a twisted motor is doing pretty well tonight.  So outdated.

Been saying for years it’s not the bike. It’s the damn riders on the bike. Once Kenny left in 16 they haven’t had another top tier rider ride one. Jett would’ve went 22-0 on a Suzuki outdoors.

Bar X team have 8 riders this year ! Do you think a team wants 8 riders for ending their relationship with suzuki in 2025?

Just listen to HEP LR podcast, the bike with electric start might comes this year.

So it's not 100% sure, but there is a good chance that something new is coming shortly!

Wait til the All Japan Nationals start. If Suzuki has a new bike, you’ll probably see it then…

As for HEP Suzuki, Larry Brooks stated in an interview that they do have an electric start for the bike AND they tested it but decided not to use it because of the vibration it caused. He ALSO said that they would not rule out using it later in the season.

Yea you’re right. But if I remember right, you have to use the RMX head and I think there was some limitations to where they could get it power wise. I don’t know what specific setup they were planning on running but either way, that’s what he said in the interview.

I've owned a few Suzukis over the years but then I started noticing a pattern...

They allegedly stole the expansion chamber...
https://youtu.be/1qccejmqbPg

They stole the full-floater:
https://www.amazon.com/Inventors-Life-Teenage-Inventor-Motorcycle/dp/10…

The last RM250 engine variant was basically a copy of the YZ250 engine

Then there was the RMX450Z which I think Suzuki had to discontinue because they claimed it was eco-compliant (in the way that the Honda 450X had a vacuum pump, etc) when in fact they were non-compliant and got into some hot water with the law.

There was the Kawi/Suzuki 250F.

No significant updates to the 4-stroke lineup in years.

Stories in McGrath's biography about how in 1997 they had to hide stuff from the Suzuki execs.

No corporation is perfect but there seem to be more of these strange stories/shenanigans when it comes to Suzuki. Seems like a bit of a circus over there. Just my personal opinion.

According to Elliot Cook you do. He was building one this time last year. You can find it on Instagram under Sharpmoto Works. I think he even started a thread in here somewhere but I don’t know what ever became of the build.

I don’t think the whole e-start RMX drop into the RMZ is as plug and play as everyone says it is. That’s probably the whole reason Suzuki never did it for a production bike in 2018 and why HEP isn’t using the e-start cases. There’s too many limitations. There’s lots of rumors from some people in the know that Suzuki had built an e-start engine with finger followers and everything around 2017 when the newest bike came out but ultimately it never made production. The RMX engine was designed prior to 2010 so they weren’t bothering trying to adapt it to the 2018 frame. At least that’s my guess.

I messaged him recently for an update on this project and he said it had to be abandoned... Once the engine was set up to have capable compression and power to compete in MX & SX the electric start system from the RMX couldn't roll the engine over. Its a much more complicated swap then people make it out to be.

With Beta, Ducati, Triumph, Stark, Kove and Lord knows who else entering the market, how long before Suzuki is just squeezed out? I would assume they are gone in 3 - 4 years easy.
