Does anybody else think that wedge and JT working for Feld could be a problem with the review show. Listening to the review and they are talking about Jett getting booed and they seem to think it has something to do with The Anderson incident. Steve brings up that during the 250 main they cut to Jett picking his gate. Wedge and JT both defend the broadcast team claiming they have always done that as a reminder the 450s are coming up and to stick with the broadcast. Literally almost every cut piece has been about the Lawrence’s. They interviewed Lars in the pits after the first race about Jett and his bike. It’s just way too much. My personal opinion is that people just have Jett fatigue caused mostly by field and I think before becoming employed by field both those guys would agree. I’m not saying I would boo an athlete but it’s beyond ridiculous how much special treatment this “kid” (20 years old 🙄) gets. I also think fans enjoy seeing athletes get humbled in real time. Jett will be fine in this sport he’s an incredible talent but they need to back it down a bit.
Suck it Steve!
Neither of them are going to say anything negative about their employer and I wouldn't expect them to. It definitely limits their ability to speak freely on some topics. It is what it is.....
Not sure how anyone can be in denial about the Lawrence oversaturation at this point though.
I don't recall him ever being booed until this week, so to say it has nothing to do with the Anderson incident and subsequent aftermath would be a weird take.
Just my opinion, and I was impartial to Jett (never pulled for him but never rooted against him either), but I think ALL the attention and focus on him backfired after the Anderson thing.
It was super easy to pile on after all of that, not because it was some absolutely horrendous outburst, but because he had been put so far up on a pedestal he seemed infallible. Unfair to Jett? Maybe. But it definitely wasn't unwelcomed by Honda and the rest of their camp.
Maybe I read between the lines too much, but when Lars was on the Pulp show he seemed to downplay it all and try to temper the hype, even though his rider went undefeated as a rookie outdoors. Maybe he saw this coming.
JT has also mentioned MANY times how much of a "kid" Jett is off the track. He's given specific examples of it as well, one of which having to do with a riders mom or sister, I can't remember exactly.
Nobody can deny the hype and attention he's gotten, warranted or unwarranted doesn't matter - when a rider is put on a pedestal THAT high and leans into it like he and his camp did, man the fall is going to be hard when the golden boy image and perfection is tarnished.
Well the boos are related to the JA21 incident, but you are right. People like to see an athlete humbled after they receive so much hype. Jett not responsible for all the hype he gets though….,But that’s how it goes, there were times when RC and Tomac got hate. In 5-6 years Jett will be a fan favourite again, but while he is not an underdog people will be happy to see him lose. That’s how it tends to have gone in the past….

I’ve been to a couple supercross races, and last night at A2 Jason Anderson was getting cheers louder then Eli, Roczen, Webb, Sexton, and even maybe AP. Jett on the other hand and a mix of boos and cheers with the boos wining. A few people even threw stuff/trash onto the track as Jett was out on his opening ceremony. I’d say it was 100% due to the Incident last week.
I felt the fans were happy to see the old bull put the young calf in his place. I’d even go as far as saying it had more to do with current society than it did the riders themselves.
The boos are 100% related the the Ando incident it gave the fans a reason to latch on and hate just like how popular it is to do social media pile-ons these days.
Whoever promotes the sport has clearly set an agenda to hype the shit out of the new golden goose which is Jett, old heads are sick of it however the type of advertising campaign is directed for new comers not old fans, old fans will never leave.
Wonder if the broadcast has been working on the triple screen so they're prepared to show some racing along with dedicated Deegan and Jett windows?
I'd comment....but I don't want to push Kiwifan over the edge....
I agree. It’s kinda like the RC wearing the crown incident. Not his fault but fuck people in the Lawrence/feld camp need to see the writing on the wall.
That use to be my favorite show of all the pods. I could take it or leave it, recently. I like both Jason’s but Steve needs new guest for this show.
The whole point of a review show is to get a different perspective on the race. Now we’re getting their perspective twice. They are both also smart and insightful guys. They know the Lawrence hype is too much, but their bosses are doing it. They can’t speak against it.
I use to look forward to that pod, now I don’t even listen to it anymore.
Steve and JTs banter is just past it’s prime for me.
Man way to much banter.
I'm 30 mins into and all they have talked about is Steve's new jacket.
Still, the jacket from last week?
Yes, I do think that Weege and JT working for Feld is a problem. Sort of like Geoff Meyer working for Youthstream.
Yup. Not even shitting you. The 1st 5 or so mins Steve was joking about weege not coming to the press box. Then next 20 mins was about the jacket and being on race day live. Then at the 30 min mark they started to talk about the race.
It has been like this for the last couple of years. It's annoying, keep that stuff for the 4-6 hour long Pulp Show on Mondays.
This is one of the reasons i think the Vital Review pod with Lewis and ML is a lot better these days. They just focus on the relevant stuff. Not jackets, Darksides hair, Keefer being at home and not the races, the stuff that goes on in the pressbox or whatever else booring inside banter.
At least weege seems to have fixed his audio issues he struggled with for a fucking decade.
I used to listen to Pulp when it was fresh, a couple of years ago it got almost adolescent and borderline creepy with the hot tub, Vegas life and after dark stupidity. Like Stern, Steve is pandering to the low end listeners, or maybe he’s just that shallow. Either way, there are too many other good moto podcasts out there that keep it about moto, so no need to force myself to listen to that shit show anymore.
Pit Row
I like that show, but I have to agree that the chit chat at the beginning goes on too long sometimes. The jacket talk went on too long. I just want to hear the motocross stuff.
It's ment to be a 60 min show.
Half the time it's like 1 has 20 coz of all the talking. This weekends was 1.5hours.
1st 10 mins should be adds and banter. Not 30 mins.
Then 30 mins of 450s, 2 mins of adds, 15 mins of 250s, 2 mins of adds. And that your hour.
Sometimes it does seem like pit talk not race talk. Show is great when they break down the races.
Steve saying he’s got to rush this because dinner is coming or I missed laps, doesn’t make a good show.
some funny fluff from the pits etc is cool but just like the broadcast. Talk about the race.
I am a HUGE Pulp fan but all the stupid pointless Jacket talk, Weege selling out and JT arguing everything (no wonder he is single) bla bla it's a funny joke for 2min not 15min I turned it off and moved on to another podcast
I listened to the show this morning, and thought the same thing. Either case, JT will coddle Jetts nuts throughout his career. Just listen to JT, Jett can do no wrong.
Can someone post a pic of Steve and this fuckin jacket
Not there best review pod. Sometimes the opening banter is funny sometimes not. In this case it was not...and it wasn't the usual 20 minutes of banter but 30.
I'm kinda starting to think that they should rotate out Weege and JT. They are biased and that's OK, they need to protect their Feld gigs. But it takes away from the "Review".
Instead of having both JT and Weege on every week, how about just one of them is on at a time and substitute some Pulp regulars like Clason, Starling, Kellen...maybe even AC?
The review pod is usually my favourite, I do agree that this weeks one wasn’t the best, but I still found myself laughing and enjoying it..
I wish JT would say what he really thinks, it’s like he is stepping on eggshells all the time..
weege’s feld ties were painfully obvious, but he is trying to land his dream job so what do you expect.
“It’s not like they are trying to show Jett more than any other rider” ummmm I firmly disagree there haha
I think AC would be great to have on.
I can understand JT not wanting to get a rider pissed and refuse to talk to him. And that impact his new gig. But it could also be seeing things from the point of view more inline with Felds just because he's working with them and seeing the why behind what they do?
I’ve been a big Pulp fan for many years, but find myself listening to the Pulp show and the review show less and less, due to the relentless and increasing amount of banter and schtick. Cut (or just reduce, really) the substantial amount of fluff, and it’s fantastic. The Feld tie in with JT and Weege is definitely an issue, and it would be nice if there was a bigger variety of “regulars” in the rotation of Pulp guests.
