The 150 is a fun bikes. Come to think of it, all bikes that run are fun.
if you had read the hole article you would have known that this new european championship is for kid from 11 to 15, which is the same age class that is used in usa for 85 or 150 4t.....
the ktm 150sx is in fact a 144cc 2t bike, which is the max capacity alowed, that runs in the mx2 or lites or schoolboy classes, which means it is a big bike and the rider has to be 15 to race it.....14 with a special license in some places........
they are completly diferent size bikes and dont race together...........
they are going to make another attempt to push the 150 into the 85 class, so then they will bring out the "real" 150.
most of the people around here want nothing to do with the bike as it is like any typical small bore 4 stroke. high maintainace, higher priced, and well just not competitive out of the box with an 85 unless you breath on it alot.
funny as i was witness to a "power" struggle in a meeting about this last year, as one brand basically said "no we don't see it that way" when honda tried to change that class size again.
It's pretty cool to see a company promoter thier product, I don't have an issue with that. Trying to change the whole sport to do it "their" way, well never have i seen so many have different opinions.
Been nice to see them take a very small part of that RD work and put it into developing a cleaner, less exspensive, two stroke design. or do both.
Pit Row
Wouldn't this be a great place for the factories to experiment with direct injection and other computerized and servo controls??
The Honda did not reset the bar. Let's just get back to 2-strokes at this level and bring them into the 21st century.
A 105cc KTM would be more than a tricked-out 150 Honda could handle. Why do we continue to make this stupid cc comparison when talking 2 vs 4 strokes?
I think yamaha has the right idea, build both, sell both. whats the harm?
they have best of both worlds.
but hey , i like the ease of the 2 stroke so thats not a secret.
but i don't think that many 150's are sold year to year, so I rather see it as honda walking away from the mini market with only offering 4 stroke race bikes?
exactly right, a 125cc thumper was legal or is still? but they chose to build a 150 and make people change rules for one brand, one machine.
The funny thing I kept hearing, they are to fast and to powerful and will get young kids hurt. Crap that thing is the best thing for a new kid. You can watch any 7-11 start and watch kids wheelie over all the time on their 85.
The price is a issue. But what hasn't got out of hand lately.
Another thing Wardy, for Suzuki to not be interested, I sure did get alot of questions asked at a dealer meeting a couple of years ago. One thing that was brought up, how about a model that came with a kick stand and electric start so play/woods riders would like it and with minimal mods it would be a great MXer. This was after I brought up the comment that MXers hadn't been buying 150Rs lately because of rules and it was mostly woods riders buying them.
Sitting in a warehouse unless its been shipped back to japan.
I would hope so or it will be a bomb.
some believe that. then again some believe that elvis is still alive to.
