Hey guys,
Just getting the garage setup again. What fluids, sprays, grease, and anything else do you guys recommend?
This would be for cleaning, maintenance, track prep, tearing down bikes, etc. I remember I had a bunch of Maxima stuff but can’t remember anymore.
Thanks!
I would go to a dealership and buy a bunch of stuff, one of each type of product, then go back and try other brands, and eventually you settle in on stuff you like. You could go to the auto parts for some stuff but buying from a dealership keeps money in the sport. Look for brands that sponsor riders, teams, and series and give them a shot. More than likely the products perform well but you will gravitate towards certain packaging, spray pressure, consistency, smell…

Big on Maxima grease, assembly lube and of course SC1 but I find most waterproof greases all behave pretty much the same

In all seriousness, hop on Maxima’s site and order all of their products. 🤘
50 cans of brake cleaner from Fleet Farm.
2 gallons of Rotella
20 cans carb cleaner
2 x SC1
2 gals Purple Power degreaser
5 boxes shop towels
1 bag microfiber towels
I always keep a gallon of Odorless Mineral Spirits for cleaning, in lieu of a parts washer.
The used fluid gets a brief second life as a firepit starter.
Just picked up some Simple Green HD, haven't tried it yet.
I keep Rotella around for nostalgia.
Bell Ray grease
WD40 SC1
91% Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning, and prepping plastic for graphics.
A bucket, water, soap, and your chick in a bikini
Brakleen, suspension clean, maxima waterproof grease, or loctite get used pretty much everytime I'm in my garage.
Shout laundry pre treat. I buy it in a case from Amazon. It is cheap and works really well for cleaning a bike. It won't stain anodizing on the bike. It is almost no scrub.
That's all I have, everybody else's suggestions are spot on.
If you’re frugal, start at the hardware store. Dry lube, pb blaster, house brand brake clean, 3M silicone spray, rotella motor oil (if you’re one of those sophisticated types) can be found for much better prices than their moto branded equivalents.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you use another bucket to keep the cleaner in? Figure you re-use it a few times before it gets too bad.
Yes, actually an old window washer fluid bottle.
The sediment will settle and be ready for another use.
