Tomac has had horrible A1 races through the years and still been in it or even won the title. So lets chill and see what happens the coming weeks.
Good grief, so people actually think someone who has 50 supercross wins is washed up a year from almost winning the championship and having a five win season.....tough crowd.
I wonder how many more weirdo A1 races we need before people stop crowning champions or writing people off after the first race of the season
Yah but but last season was far from dominate. He had quite a few less than impressive rides. Never looked to have the intensity of the old Eli either.

Tomac will be on the podium regularly. He will almost certainly win some races.
He is notorious for starting off slowly in A1. So this result especially can’t be read into, But even if you want to read into it…
He is returning from a freak injury and this was the first time he has been at race speed in like 9 months. A speed which Jett and Sexton have increased a bit and the likes of Webb, Anderson and Roczen have been pushing to meet. They all knew what Jett was about. So Tomac is returning to a field where everyone is faster than before his injury.
if he fails to win a race this year. He might regret the extra year. But I would rather watch him try to match the new pace. Sexton had raw speed at times which looked unbeatable. Tomac managed to find ways to win. I expect he will continue to do so.
He had like four or five rounds with a 5th or worse finish. Also a few thirds. That consistency isn’t going to be good enough this year.
Typical Tomac. It usually takes a while to get all guns blazing. Good news is, he’s still good enough not to let a down night (especially A1) ruin him. Everybody is on the Jett train, but I still believe Eli will be on top when the smoke clears.

Last year was an aberration. This is vintage A1 Tomac. I already know my moment of the season will be his 8th Daytona win
That’s a bold statement based on what we saw yesterday. Are you thinking he’ll actually pick up enough speed to have something for Jett, or are you hanging your hopes on an injury? Unless someone in the field finds a whole lotta pace, I don’t see Jett being pressured into a mistake in this field. “Deepest field ever”. Looked about knee deep in Jett’s kiddie pool last night.

I’m never hoping for an injury with anyone. I’m merely looking at what has been Tomac’s MO for most of his pro career, or at least the portion of it that’s included championships. He knows A1 doesn’t mean much, and he uses it as a shake down. You’re clearly on the Jett Train, but if you’re comparing his dominance in last years outdoor series where there was a certain amount of depletion due to some injuries, and this years SX series that’s packed to the hilt…I think Jett will prove the adage that “everybody can be beaten” more than once before things end. I don’t think we’ve seen Tomac at his highest level at all yet.

I actually hope you’re right. I’ve had about all the Jett hype I can take. Unfortunately, after what I saw last night (and all last summer) I predict we’re in for a boring few years of Supercross racing reminiscent of the mid 90s.

It was his first race back after a serious injury that has ended careers of athletes in all major sports. Achilles is such a gnarly injury. On top of that he came back extremely quickly when you look at the history of other athletes with that type of injury.
He’s not getting enough credit for how impressive a top 10 in this stacked of a field is after all that. I don’t think Tomac fans have anything to worry about.

Jett and Eli were both healthy last night, and Eli would have needed to find an average of more than 2 seconds a lap to make that epic racing. Jett’s average lap time was 1:03.599 way out front with no need to push. Eli’s average was 1:05.966. 2+ seconds is a lifetime at that level. That’s the same gap between Eli and Shane McElrath’s average lap time last night.
Yep. That ride had all characteristics of his classic arm pump rides and finishes. ET3 will be ok. I’m a die hard ET3 fan, and it pains me to say, but the Dungey approach to championship management Tomac executed last year against Chase will not work on Jett. Tomac will have to beat him and often to win it this year.
Nope. Even if the guy never wins another race (and I think he will) supercross is infinitely better with him out there. It’s a little premature to call Tomac washed-up or Jett the champ after only one race. It’s a long season.

People hang on Tomac here the same way we did on Reed a couple of years before realizing that the train had left.
The whole ”Tomac will wax Jett” or ”Tomac will hang with Jett” is based on what?
what stats or logic do you use to claim that?.
the fact that Sexton were faster than tomac 90% of the time last sx season but hit the ground, and Jett is beating Sexton speed-wise without hitting the ground.
the fact that Sexton and Tomac went head to head the whole 22 outdoors season with the last moto as a decider and in 23 Jett schooled Sexton the whole summer?.
what am i missing from the last two seasons regarding facts and not emotions around Tomacs speed that prooves that he is or will ever be at the same pace as Jett?
Or do we really gonna go back 3-4 seasons to justify this?

Looked like vintage Eli. Starts the season off slow, then will have some absolutely berserk beast mode rides starting a few rides into the season.
