I've been attending Supercross events since 2006... never has the music/announcer sound level been so loud that I couldn't hear the bikes on the start straight.
One of the best parts of attending a live race is hearing the roar of 22 motorcycles all at once going into the first corner... not tonight.
It was f**king awful, I honestly feel for the children that were there.
Edit: I hope someone from the industry sees this and can assess the situation.
Guess that leaves a seat open for someone else next year.
If it’s too loud, you are too old!! LOL. I am sure it would have been too loud for me too.
I wore earplugs all night long and didn't miss a word. It was even loud with them. Total BS
Felt the same, it was deafening! I put in ear plugs after the first 250 heat.
Announcing volume completely drowned out almost all the bike sounds except the lane right in front of you

I noticed the speakers were louder this year too. Especially during practice.
Funny enough I had that thought before the race started... I was like man, I must just be getting old, until the racing started and I couldn't hear the bikes.
Just got home and my ears are RINGING, I can’t believe I saw a thread about it haha. It did seem way louder
Couldn't hear the bikes? Dam that must have been LOUD.
Me and my group agree- ears are ringing, too loud and most of it just a mix of incomprehensible noise😳
Lurch's screaming was ridiculous. Seriously, way over the top.
I have no idea how he screams with that intensity all night, week after week
DJKO blasting ear drums. I’ve been to a ton of races, never have my ears been ringing after a supercross. Last time I went to a club I thought the same thing, I guess I’m too old. But I wasn’t a fan of a dj playing music over the start. If you weren’t paying attention you wouldn’t have even noticed a race was about to start.
I agree with the OP. The bikes should be the loudest thing there. My ears are still ringing.
Would have much rather have heard the bikes.
DROP THAT GATE!!!!
Definitely seemed louder than any other years I’ve been. Maybe we are getting old?
who needs ICE sounds when the PA is louder than the noise? Push for electric harmonizes with this thread.
Hopefully this thread gets some people at least to wear ear protection. Ringing ears from the night? How'd you like to deal with that everyday? Ear damage is no joke. I know first hand.
Good to know. Will be taking ear plugs to Philly just in case. It seems like this is getting more common these days. Concerts are so loud you can’t even hear the singing. It’s like they think if it’s louder you’ll enjoy it more.
Pit Row
Even watching the feed here in the UK, you can hear Lurch's screaming.
Guy needs to STFU .
The fact that you can be DQ'ed for failing a noise test, and that fuckwit can scream at the top of his lungs is just irony much.
He adds nothing.
' Wasn't the announcer good and nice to listen too'
'I will take things nobody has ever said , for $1000'
I thought the same thing.
We had a few kids sitting in front of us. I was hoping the parents brought era plugs for them but I think not. At 1 point, the was mom holding her hands over one of their ears, I am old but the sound was absolutely beyond ok. In this day and age, lawsuits are coming. Making sure to let you know, I'm joking..
I thought it was just me, thought we were just close to the speakers. Ears are still ringing this morning
Went to my grandson’s peewee hockey game and the same thing, heavy metal blasting out of the speakers, couldn’t even talk to the wife it was so loud🤬 who needs music when you’re watching a hockey game.
Thought this thread was going to be about how quiet the crowd seemed in person last night.
But seriously, they turned the audio wayyyy up. It’s funny because everyone has always complained you can’t hear the announcers during the race. Now you can hear them and everyone is complaining that they’re too loud.
does supercross really need a dj?
I was there. Had no issue with the sound at all. I heard the bikes and all the panic revs just fine.
I feel like people just NEED to complain to feel fulfilled. It was an amazing night of racing and a helluva show.
Maybe it depends on where you were sitting?
I've been to multiple SX races and A1 before. Never left complaining about the sound before. I go to the races to hear the bikes. If I want to hear the announcers I'll watch it on TV.
For the people saying it was too loud, what level were you on? Maybe there's a level we all need to stay away from.
Nice fantasy score, you are leading the pack out of A1.
I was low in the 200 level, basically at the top of the 100 level
