That's a traction pin, not external fixator. Weight hanging from a pulley and keeping his leg more or less at length.

I had the same type of break in my right femur. It hurts, but when they put you in traction and hang the weight all of that pain goes away.

What a bummer. He seems like a really cool guy and genuinely stoked to be Haiden’s mechanic. They make a good team, he’s a good wingman for Haiden…. always positive and upbeat.

Hey guys,

I have no idea who valveless is, so I’m sure he’s just assuming that this injury removes me from working with Haiden. But I assure you that’s not the case. There will for sure be someone that has to help until I get healed and mobile again, but I’m not going anywhere.

I was riding at a track in Florida yesterday. I was hitting a step up with a blind landing in 4th gear, and as I came over I saw a bike laying on the track. Nowhere to go, so I hit the bike and got slammed into the next jump face. My femur is broke, but it will heal and I’ll be back on the tools in no time.

Get well soon Duffe, praying that surgery and recovery go well. We will see you back wrenching in no time. Also, you don't have to say yes if you can't but is Haiden racing west? There's another thread on here about that.

Long time lurker, first time poster... Just ribbing you Brent, and think it's GREAT of you to set the record straight on this thread. Prayers to you for a complete and swift recovery.

I still remember when the ER doc used a manual hand drill to punch that hole thru my shin, even tho it was 40 years ago. They put a belt between my teeth while they did it. The next couple days sucked, but on day 3 they did a K nail and on day 4 I was up on crutches.

Heal up!!!

I bet Haiden has a different mechanic for most of, if not all of Supercross. I never meant to imply that you were done for good, haha! I am a huge fan and am hoping for a speedy recovery.

I don’t see why everyone is taking my comment as being negative. It is kind of common sense that you aren’t going to be a mechanic on a professional Supercross bike. Within three to four weeks of a bad femur break. I guess if that makes me a doctor. I’ll take it.

I had 6 pins removed from my femur with a ryobi. That was the most painful experience of my life

I had 18/21 removed of out both feet/legs with a dead dewalt. Then the dr brought in the hand drill. I was like nope, take me for surgery Blink. Still the worst part about any of my injuries haha

Being older now, I would have just waited a week to go under for it. For 3 months I was supposed to get them removed at every appointment, by the time I was given the go I just wanted them gone. I remember the swelling had gone down so the threads on all of the pins were sticking out of my thigh and was extremely painful. Oh yeah, it rebroke 3 days later. Lol

Haha yeah my dr didn’t wanna put me under. And he tried his best to make me go through it all. And I tried my best. But there was on that went all the way through my left heel and out the other side. I said nope. This last time I broke both feet, i was lucky enough when they pulled the ex fix out I had to have internal pins removed out of my other foot that they had to put me under for

We'll see what kind of surgery he gets. Can be weight bearing after and back at it pretty fast after IM nail sometimes.
