I remember pulling my wheels after every little ride to get the dirt and water out of the drum. I sure don't miss those days.

Yes & I remember sanding them to get full contact on my Maico's

Still do it on my vintage race Maico's!

My 74 Bultaco brakes were good for about 3 laps. The 76 was much better. I had a 78 husky auto that did not stop very well either. It would be interesting to see how much better that bike would have been with a modern front disc.

You eather went fast thru the corners because of no brakes or you crashed :o

That was my trick on my 1977 IT175 :shock:

I used beat my friends at De Anza(not by more than 5-20 feet, man that was hard work, beating my friends at open practise <img class= " title="Laughing"> ), they had those fancy disc brakes and water cooling even. Rich kids and those new (for then) 1988 CR125s.

Honda really suckered them... <img class= " title="Laughing">

Nah!! My friends just sucked (at riding) more than I did <img class= " title="Laughing">

I could not believe how easy it was to go fast (for me) on one of those CR's.

Since then I have always wanted a brand new bike. Newest I have ever had is a 1985 YZ250 :cry:

My 83 YZ250K had top end over my buddies '85 ,even when he did the Yamaha wrench report updates. My '88 Yz250 felt slower than both of them. :?

To funny...i will always have a soft spot for old ITs. My best friend growing up picked up a 1980 IT 175 in '88, just so we could have the same ride (that sounds kinda gay). We got our first tickets on those Yameys. We were out in Painted Canyon (Indio), it was starting to get dark, we both had just switched over to reserve and we thought it would be fun to jump on the highway, you know just to see which IT was faster. I will never take a off highway bike on the highway again <img class= " title="Laughing">

I rode an IT-175 back and forth to work all winter in 1982-1985. I crashed on I-235 in a 10" snow-storm once, thought I was dead.

I rode my Road Toad in the summer.

I had a new 77 IT175 when they first came out
I had White Bros extend the travel on the shock and I put in a Terry Kit in the forks. Like I really needed either one of them.I had some ot the best riding of my life with my father in south Jersey on that bike [/color:ccc7a]

Friend of mine had those mods done to his 77" I.T.400, he never was happy with it afterwards.
That I.T. 175 and I went thru a lot, big learing curve in those days and very fond memories.
