YZ250f 2024, worth it?

I can't decide, reviews are pretty mixed. I like my 22, which only has 50hrs, besides the rider triangle being a bit cramped. But it doesn't sound like the 24 slimmer frame and chassis changes are all that positive.

Is someone in the same boat, how do you convince yourself?

Yes, it is worth it!! i had a YZ250f 2019 and the difference between the rider triangle and the slimmer design is noticeable!

The motor give or take is pretty close to the 22 but i think overall it's a good change!

If you want to convince yourself to wait, just check out the OTD prices people are being quoted.

If I was ready for a new bike, it's the 250F that I would buy. But I'm in no hurry to move on from my '21. It's still pretty low hour and I have it dialed it. I'm not super motivated to move on from this chassis to the newer one.

It does look sweet. But yeah exactly as AH387 says, the motivation is lacking as my current one is great and new one doesn't seem that much better. I could put on lowering pegs and have the same effect as opening the rider triangle such as 24. Would be happy to hear from more that got theirs already.

I'm in Europe btw, they are priced around 11-12K USD here.

The only way it would be worth it is if you sold your bike and a bought a YZ250...

Curious how the front brake is on the 2024.  I have a 2018 and the front brake is my least favorite part of that bike.

If your over 5”10 and ride tighter tracks definitely worth it. I could never ride the previous gen 450 but the new one I like a lot

I'm 6ft and peg relocation made a big difference. Switched to Windham EVO bar (in 3rd position on clamps). Also, Powerflow shrouds are a tad more sleek. I'm 100% happy with the rider triangle and ergos now.

I'm not a huge fan of tall, flat seats. I don't get the allure for that (like how the 22 YZ 2strokes are.) I feel like an exaggerated "on top of the bike" feeling is odd and makes it feel like the center of gravity is too tall. So I was never bothered by the seat shape of the 19-23 YZ250F. But I know I'm in the minority there.

I did a tall seat, +5mm bar mounts, and WC peg mounts on my 2021 and it made a huge difference.

I really want to ride the new bike.

I used to be a Yamaha guy, I gave up trying to buy one, couldn’t find one.  From what I understand the ones that did paid serious OTD.  Hope that changes.

I found a brembo master cylinder on Ebay for $85 bucks from a KTM. Bolted up to the stock brake line.... and low and behold the spongy feel was gone. Easy mod.

Thanks, what brake pads do you like to use on this bike?  Also, did you change any other components on the front brake system?

Did you end up doing the works connection peg mounts? Been looking at those for a bit.

No I did Fastway pegs, where you flip the pin. But I'm really happy with the results.

I’m 5”10 did raptor -7mm pegs and oem Kawasaki/honda bend bars on my 22 and the cockpit feels way more open and just like a 24 now think if you have a 21+ right now it really just comes down to rather you feel the need for a new bike. Don’t think the 24 is leaps and bounds above the 21-23

Really? That's interesting. I swap back and forth with my friend's stock '20 and I think it's pretty noticeable. I also went with aftermarket shifter and brake pedal that allowed me to adjust,  to further dial in the positioning (after the peg relocation. ) So that maybe emphasizes the difference,  when swapping back to a stock bike? Not sure. But to me it was a worthwhile mod. Glad that the new ones are better stock though.

I really want to ride the new bike.

So did I on my 22 and older bikes (all were 450s)  but the 23 and 24 YZ450s that I own now I dont feel that I need the taller seat.  I run Windham bend Pro Taper Evo bars in the front mount holes with the mounts in the forward position.  Im 6' 3" 235.

Also, the 2024 250F now has the same chassis as the 450 and I rode one at a Yamaha demo and i felt the same way about the stock seat on it

They are definitely noticeable to me and I'm 5'10". Installed them on my 2019 YZ250F. Had to adjust20230313 190312, as it felt a bit different off jumps. It only took a few jumps to adapt. The difference was enough that I had to adjust sag slightly, so recheck that after installing them. I do think they make the rider triangle better, even at my average height. I also have a flatter seat foam (15mm higher only in the middle). These two changes were awesome and appear to be similar to the new 2024 bike.

did you install the WC mounts + flo lowering pegs? Is that worth it or are the mounts the sweet spot?

I believe the WC mounts are -7/-5 with a stock (standard) peg. That's about what you want. And the Fastway Evo Air pegs that I got are around that same drop/back in the lowered position. So it's kind of an either-or type of thing. I just chose to go the peg route. Had I went with the mounts, I would've just used the stock pegs.

I would do the -7 pegs before I did just the mounts the mounts are 200+ and you’re still stuck with stock pegs. Raptors and other pegs are -5 and more down and are in the same price range and you get a better peg plus the movement. I’m 5”10 did -7 raptors and the bike feels much more comfy

I had -5 down and back pegs on my '21, but also didn't really feel much of a difference. I ended up riding my buddies stock '22 and ended up leaving my '23 stock. Felt like I was spending extra money and only gaining marginal difference. I'm 6'2".

I’d like one but me being only 5.7, the taller seat height kinda put a damper on it! Love the new look, I had a 2020 Yz250fx I liked a lot but had a couple reliability issues with it, so I went & got a 22 kx450, but I think a 250 is the right size for me!  The KX 250 looks promising! But then again in all my many many years of dirt biking, I’ve never had a Honda! I’m so confused 😂 😂
