You mean $4K including top end (piston, cylinder, head), crank, main bearings & seals?
I don't know about you, Magoofan, but I think GasGas needs to get MXA one of these bikes so they can do a major long-term reliability test on it before any more of this happens to unsuspecting customers.
And of course, GasGas needs to contact this fella immediately and cover any and all costs of repair, otherwise word could spread about their lack of customer care.
I mean, that's been your take on Stark and their Varg, and what's good for the goose is good for the gander, right?
Gas gas should but they won’t 😏

Good thing he had one of those cheap-to-rebuilt 2 strokes, huh?
Do they have all the parts you need in stock? I know KTM has had some serious parts shortages, but not sure if Gas Gas is affected as well.
KTM 250 SX and GasGas MC 250 engine part numbers are identical!
To be fair if a 4 stroke motor let go like the OP's did it would be more expensive to repair.
Of that I am certain. Not trying to rub salt in the wounds but the point I am trying to make and I am not sure came across is that it was likely mortally wounded at some point before that day it failed in it's 100 HR's. Nothing that happened that day caused it as far as I can tell. It is possible a combination of 60:1 and environmental factors caused it to score previously(something did).
I run 32:1 in my bikes and 40:1 in my saws/OPE. There are way too may oil tests out there showing some oils at 50:1 run brutally dry.
Engine parts are pretty hard to find for this one. A lot of website advertise for it, then when you go to it, there’s a warning that says “won’t fit your bike”
You can get cases, crank cylinder from other models .. you just need to put some work in on the part number cross-referencing and spend some time looking for used stuff. I think you could get it back for under $2k in parts, in my opinion.
I'm happy to help, as are the Vitards (Vital forum members).
I would suggest that there is a lot to learn in this ... laying down a stack of cash ($4k to be exact) is a missed opportunity.
Edit: part numbers are not going to cross reference too well due to changes in suppliers between 2019 and 2023. But the parts will cross over. You just need to ask the right people about what fits together.
Why is a new 250 2T engine more than a 250F?
FFS dude. I've had psycho girlfriends who stalked me less than you. I'm sorry I broke your heart.
GasGas recommends rebuilding the crank every 40 hours and all engine bearings. so being over double the service recommendation I doubt GasGas will offer any help.

Yeah, but you're not really sorry. You said our love would last, and you lied. Sniff.
One time, admit that you bop on up to the hypocrisy buffet, tuck your snoot under the sneeze guard, and snarf like Arnold Ziffel after a hunger strike - and I'll find other things to do. 'Till then, whenever you post your horseshit, there I'll be.
I’m just not seeing the $4k price tag, if you replace all top end parts from crank up. Did you mention that both cases are cracked? Assuming that you’re gonna do the work yourself, and that both cases aren’t cracked, and using aftermarket parts, the cost might run close to $1400-1600.
Little difference between 125 and 250/300 maintenance?? If you are talking filters and oil sure but all other intervals are way different, IMO
That puppy sure went! Sorry to see.
Yep and 1 case
Pit Row
4k with all OEM stuff
Whew, that’s a lot.
Where are you getting your price quotes from?
I run 32:1

I didn't see you are the original owner. That is also the least likely possibility. Just trying to get across it may not be your fault. Could even be a bad batch of pins or bearings.
Look at Langston's online parts finder they give a pretty good discount
I don’t feel it was our fault either, I get it if I blow up a bike but for everything to just be in pieces is odd
Obviously it’s time to go back to Yamahas 🤷♂️😂
Man, that is tough to see. Condolences to the OP.
Side note, does casting look more porous nowadays than in the "good ol days"?
I am sure you where WFO but the integrity of the structure does seem a bit suspect when compared to other failures. When that piston pin jammed in the exhaust port it must have been glorious.
Yeah it was super glorious 😂😂
