WTF. I resemble this thread!!  Must get coffee before I contribute cause everybody knows without pics it didn’t happen. This happened to me!! it does start with one order. It IS a progressive disease, and yes I have figured it’ll take a full day to swap out all my Ti when I sell or I’d need someone to pay at least an extra $1000 over market   I would probably win any safety wire contests among my riding group as well

I run all titanium screws in my race rigs... I also love the gold color that one 3 cell Lipo will make any tia piece. I have been "anodizing" them for years with stacked 9 volt batteries (Now I have the same power supply in the vid). This video is awesome to show all the colors that you can achieve for almost nothing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR90vWS16Is

That’s pretty damn slick.
Thanks for sharing that.

What a waste, it's no fun if you don't add dirt!

I am jealous.

Vanity aside, has anyone done any before/after weight comparisons following a comprehensive steel > titanium swap?

Check out the Mugen CR 125’s built by Lucky Nino. He goes in depth with his weight savings using ti amongst other items.

I hate all of y’all. I just got my billet addiction under control and I’m ordering ti footpegs pivot pits.

Sorry for derailing your titanium thread with carbon fiber, Pro-bolt makes a nice looking axle nut

Since you like carbon fiber, my pipe guard showed up today. 😁

When you have enough spare Ti hardware to outfit 80% of a couple more bikes and the other 5 bikes are already fitted with Ti, you will know that you have an addiction.

Don’t even get me started on the Carbon fiber addiction. Woohoo I just bought a full set of “plastics” for my ‘23 890 Adventure bike made out of carbon fiber.

These addictions started for me when I was buying BILLET parts for my hot rods and VW bugs. It is impossible to cure ! lol

There will be haters that will feel the need to throw out some comments on what a waste of money it is, or ask how much faster does it make you… but to be perfectly honest, I’ve gotten to the point of not giving a F*ck what anyone else thinks. The stock KTM bolts are like galvanized junk and look like crap as soon as you out a wrench on them, my OCD kicks in and DocWob is on speed dial for Titanium hardware !
I can think of a LOT of ways to blow money and not have anything to show for it.
There’s over $100K in motorcycles in my garage and they each bring me the type of happiness that I can’t get from anything else in life, I’ve tried …..

Not ti, not carbon, but collecting old BMX bikes and parts is on a different level.
Buddy, not me.

I have an old thread on this site where I built a no expense spared 218lb 2012 CRF450 and it had titanium bolts through-out including both axles, swingarm pivot down to the clutch and brake pivot pins. It was definitely the least cost effective way to loose weight.  I think I spent over $3k on titanium hardware and only shed 2 pounds. In comparison, a $500 FMF silencer shed 1.5 pounds, the $500 titanium shock spring lost another 1 pound, while the $600 carbon fiber fuel tank shed another 0.8 pounds. These 3 parts lost the most weight. The HRC titanium foot pegs and mounts lost 0.6 pounds, the Think seat foam lost 1.4 pounds, but was as hard as a rock and too uncomfortable, so I swapped it out for the guts lightweight foam, which is not as light, but better for the butt. The stock oem seat foam weighted 630 grams, the Guts foam weighed 240 grams and the Think foam weighed 95 grams. I did keep the Think bar pad foam though... saved .09 lbs! Smile

The Geico Honda hubs saved .35 pounds.

Aluminum bolts make the most sense for all plastic fastening, handlebar perches as well as the engine side covers, but don't look as nice as titanium. I saved .25 lbs with the aluminum bolts on these parts.  Carbon fiber makes sense for the chain guide, brake discs and caliper guards.

Big titanium "bolts" like the axles saved .25 lbs on the front and .35 lbs on the rear.  Swing arm pivot saved .18 lbs.

Titanium on the front axle, swingarm pivot and some linkage bolts will effect handling/ bike feel a little.
