What if the length/size of the table is equal to the size of two singles?
Think about it as the amount of landings that a jump has. Tables have 2. Therefor, it's technically two jumps. There's your quad. If you disagree, what do you call this? A 3.5? (Timestamp at 2:02)
You’ve been a Vital member since 2006, which means you’re coming up on two decades of forum threads. How can you still have the urge to debate this 😂
Given your length of time here, I assume you’re a vet like me, and also like me, you’re not jumping any variation of the combos you’ve described.
So I have to ask…
Since your wheels have to leave the ground to clear a table top, it counts as 2. Just as we say a triple jump on when it's 2 singles and a table but when you go over the table, it's called a quad (over the table)...
Only RC calls it a triple in the industry and it's not because he's the goat that he is right... Jumping an entire jump on/jump off section has always been called a quad in our SX lingo.
I know some of you love to bitch about anything but on this particular case, find something else to bitch about...

"Triple over" would be ok, but I'm not butt-hurt over quad as it is the 4th option so to speak. Certainly not as impressive as the more rare true "quad."
What would you call clearing a table single table (Daytona 2021?). Is that triple over over or quint or something else?
More Vital quality content.....
They were doing it at round 12 in Arlington 2021 as well. Table over single over table. It's a 5.
Its a quad onto table.
the op is 100% right.
By your logic you would call a normal table a double as you can land on the top of it or on the downside so 2 landing points.
if the finish jump has a over under lander which is a table, its still called a double not a triple.
so it makes no sense to class a table in a rhythm section as a double
Much love DV I'm honored you commented, but by wheels leaving ground counts as 2? So every tabletop is a double? The logic is flawed
You just contradicted yourself... If the line at LA is a quad onto table, then you have to consider the table's landing when counting a rhythm in other situations, too. Why is it a quad onto the table if the landing on top is irrelevant when it's not at the end? Also, if the finish line has an over-under, it's not meant to be landed on top of. We're talking designed landings here.
Is DV whipping to the left or to the right?

It's never been about number of landings or length, its literally about what you're jumping, that's why I titled it 3 objects in space, you're jumping 3 single entities on land, it doesn't matter if one is long. By your logic and those who disagree, calling a triple over 2 singles a quad would be the same as referring to the finish line over/under as a triple
Then what is the line Jett is doing at LA? By your logic, it shouldn't be a quad unless he jumps all the way over the table.
Both?
The other commenter mentioned it, its a quad on, he's jumping ON to the 4th obstacle in space, as opposed to a quad OVER.
Exactly... it's a quad because the top of the table is a landing. So if the number of landings matter in this scenario, it should matter in other scenarios. You gotta be consistent with your logic.
What, I am? It's a quad because its 4 jumps, one being long (a tabletop), by your logic him jumping over would be a quintuple, which it's not
"It's never been about number of landings or length"
"its 4 jumps, one being long"
More contradiction...
Your debate is about the semantic here. The common consensus is that the # of landings are what constitute the term that should be used. That's just the way it's been forever, as DV said. If you disagree with that it's your own problem tbh.
Pit Row
If you take off once and land once, isn't a single jump?
If you land separately from the bike, is that a double?
3 separate mounds of dirt is THREE....aka TRIPLE.
Single-single-table. You can triple ONTO the third tabletop....or you can triple OVER the third tabletop. If the tabletop is the first jump with two after....it's a damn TRIPLE still. Get it?
Any moron that says 3 separate mounds of dirt is a quad....well, you're a moron. Learn to count.
Two tabletops in a row. Is that a quad then. NO. That's a double made with TWO tabletops.
A QUAD IS FOUR. 4. 4 SEPARATE MOUNDS OF DIRT. REPEAT AFTER ME, "FOUR".
Triple?

WTF, how do you even find something like that
According to "Dirt Rider"...

So 2 tabletops in a row is a quad jump!
More than a handful!
By the way, where is the third clamp of the ”tripleclamps”..?
A lonely tabletop in a field, you go,off the lip and land on top. What’s it called? Surely not I singled the tabletop. Better yet how many times could you have been sent into the air?
A lonely tabletop in a field, you go off the lip and land on the landing/backside, what’s it called, surely not I doubled the lonely tabletop. How many times were you sent into the air?
A table is a single no matter how you slice it. Carry on morans….
Just to throw this in there, a table on a SX track is not the same as a big table in MX. The MX table might be 4-6 bike lengths long, it doesn't matter where you land on it, which is the point. A SX table has exactly one place where you can safely land. The whole thing might be 1.5 bike lengths long
Post a reply to: Off season gripe, 3 objects in space should never be referred to as 4
