Trying to start a thread that gains traction is often an uphill battle. I don’t race, I’m recovering from shoulder surgery after bouncing my bike off a tree. I’m down for 4 months minimum. You gotta love single track in the wet ass PNW (sarcasm). My bike is parked now and, I can’t even work on it.  I just started spending a bit more time in Moto-Related this month.

I usually spend my time on Vital in, non moto. Often, there’s subjects outside of moto that are interesting. I started a thread to learn about ultrasonic cleaners and, managed to get some replies that were enough to get me started in the right direction.

I’ve found that bouncing between all the different subjects within the forum, there’s always something interesting. TooOld4WFO is building a shitload of mid 90’s CR 250’s at the same time that I’ve been following. His skills restoring bikes is incredible.
Bonseff is building a 96 CR 125 that’s been quite interesting as well.

Most of the guys over in Non-Moto are cool as hell. I met most of my friends I interact with outside the forum over there. From the home cooked meals thread to, memes of the day. There’s always something decent going on over there.

Check out the other areas of the forum. Vital isn’t just about MX as I’ve found out. It’s also an opportunity to interact with some pretty decent people on other subject matters.  If you guys have other hobbies there’s always going to be others interested in them. I can’t hear enough or, look at enough pictures about spear fishing, salmon fishing and, art.

Have a good evening fellas.

Come over to moto, scroll down the thread titles...

Nope,

Nope,

Nope,

Nope,

Find one worth browsing,

Open and see the same wannabe mods, and psuedo factory insiders professing their superior knowledge.

If you're lucky, you'll see DV, or another actual person of facts, try to set things straight.

But usually just fanboyz slap fighting each other.

But then again, it's the same on motoGP, F1, MTB etc... forums as well.

Yup. Bought my first Tacoma last year…and I really like it, and it’s the first vehicle I’ve ever had that I can see driving for the next 7-10 years. And that’s coming from a guy in the car business for 35+ years like me that has sold & owned everything else.

Also Toyota.....home of an ancient V6 that gets terrible mileage and an archaic 4 speed transmission.  Yes, I know they just updated the truck but it was the same for 100 years and drove like shit compared to my Canyon.

And that truck, with the "ancient" V6 and "archaic" transmission retains a 25% higher resale value after 4-years of ownership (Natl. Average) than any GM, Ford or RAM product. There are substantial factory incentives and rebates on the American-made trucks (to help them sell)...but Toyota sells virtually every Tacoma or Tundra they can build each year without factory discount-bait. And, you can't get a "screaming deal" on a Toyota Tacoma because of the reputation for reliability and their ability to hold their value, rather than depreciate up to 50% in the above-mentioned 4-years after purchase.

I don't disagree with that.  They have an almost cult following, but so do a lot of things that are not actually "better", but are deemed as "cool" or the superior product.  They were superior 15 years ago and still living off that reputation which is fine.

Never had a chevy pickup last as long, and as trouble free as my V6 2004 Tacoma prerunner with close to 450,000 miles.

Or my 2004 V8 4runner with close to 220,000 miles.

Many of those miles being offroad.

Both still drive smooth as silk.

Wow, 450k miles, well done. I'm closing in on 300k miles  on my S-10. Hoping the front end holds together till then.

Theres a guy over on a hunting forum that i post at that has over 600k on his Excursion.

I have a Honda Trail 110 that has over 30k miles on it (estimated, as the speedo cable likes to break every few years and it takes me a bit to get in the mood to fix it. It burns almost as much oil as gas.

I'm more than a bit obsessed with maintenance and keeping vehicles clean.

Oil changes around 3,500 miles, tyres rotated every other oil change, hitting the grease fittings at least every oil change.

Even in the winter I'll pull one into the garage, pressure wash underneath, etc...

GF's Acura TLS has over 450,000.

V-tech 6cylinder.

Damn thing still gets up and hauls ass.

EVERYONE around the planet involved in MX/SX reads this board.

From World Champions to team managers to team owners to the parts guys behind the counter.  I know this as fact and so does management.

But not too many of them want to post in this forum because of the trolls that have become more vocal, brazen, and rude here over the years.

If some members here would not attempt to light everyone on fire, this forum would be full of the top people in this sport expressing themselves.

Be nice and think twice before you post stupid or degrading shit.

Legitimate evaluation, but I really don't remember too many of these racers, managers or owners posting here in the first place.  I'd say a more likely scenario is they're too busy racing, managing and owning to be posting.

As for these industry people being run off by the trolls around here.  Every time I've see one post it's more nut-huggn' than antagonism.  If these insiders don't want to post here, I'm sure they have their reasons.  Like I said, they probably have better things to do.

But if they are reading this site like you state maybe they could answer this question.  What would they rather have for lunch, chili & corn bread or grilled cheese and tomato soup?  That should ratchet up the content meter.

Well first off, the cornbread would have to have chopped jalapeno peppers in it.

Love funny signs.

The wife and I get a kick out of finding them when we travel.  This is a street in Bern, Switzerland.

No matter what, you can't argue with long-term reviews, NADA/KBB book values & Edmond reliability reviews. The Toyota products flat have a history of reliability/resale that no other can match.

Man....that is a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG  commercial.     Totally cheesy 80's

Two of my brothers both bought those when they came out.  They were so much fun to ride...but man, were they deadly.

I don't know why but after watching these 3-wheeler commercials i feel like watching a few episodes of CHiP's.

At least in the Kawi ad the 3-wheeler isn't harassing a poor guy on a Husky or a snowmobiler.

I've been thinking, when you seat bounce a jump, does it actually add lift?

Just kidding.

maybe just photos of bears is where we're at. that and asking about a cam shaft for a 2020 YZF 250 or results from the Supercross of Paraguay.

c'mon let's get back to racing. 2024 Supercross in particular. otherwise go mow your lawns 'cause this is the most boring I've seen our threads since... well hell I can't recall

I'll say the same thing I said that last 3 or 4 times you made this same thread. This is an enthusiast forum, not just an ama pro racing fan page. Most enthusiasts are also participants and enjoy reading about tech stuff, troubleshooting, new bikes, new gear, and all things "moto-related". That is what keeps the forum active and interesting. I'd rather read Billy from Luxon discuss fork offset theory than watch an Instagram reel of random racer spinning his umpteenth million lap of the off-season on a generic SX practice track.

There will be plenty of discussion about the '24 supercross season . . . when it begins. In the meantime there are silly season updates, discussion about the schedule, a countdown to A1, etc. Not really anything else to discuss in the off-season.

My favorites are the tough guys who threaten to kick everyone’s ass when their information is called out for being incorrect. That always cracks me up. I come from a long line of, Forum Vikings!!  😂

Not to mention, the guy that should’ve put the bottle down a couple hours earlier and, decided to start a thread. You know that’s when you should grab a little popcorn and, enjoy the inevitable meltdown.

Bullshit.
