Which desert ? My experience is if you’re not doing something stupid no one will notice or care. There’s lots of idiots to keep them busy. An off-road park like Gorman I could see a ranger checking for stickers, in the desert not so much.
Mainly el mirage and cock-a-tillo. Yea I hear that maybe I’m just paranoid. It seems like dirt legal is the only option for off road registration

I bought a 23 ktm sxf450 this year and a red sticker came in the mail. So did my friends who bought 23s
Also. You could buy an out of state pass, from the same place that sells ski permits

Did you finance the bike? If you didn’t that would be why. If you did finance they have to send everything to the DMV and you should still get a sticker. My dad didn’t finance his and still got a sticker for his 24 YZ450, but he had to go to the DMV with the bike for them to check it out. We also got a sticker for my daughters new TTR125, which from my understanding should technically get a sticker either.

My local DMV said they’re still waiting on a policy statement from the state level. Until then they carry on as usual. Suggest NOT calling additional attention to your situation, you’ll just motivate the state to move faster. The red/green sticker law is clear, enforcement is on the way, no point in making it happen sooner.

You can go to Nevada and buy a non California resident ohv sticker at any power sports dealer, you can’t get into state parks but everywhere else you’re kinda legal it’s what I do

Don't shoot the messenger but I've heard of at least one OHV park where the rangers are aware some people are getting stickers for newer bikes and are checking VIN/Reg and turning people away telling them it's a clerical error and their bike is not compliant.
There is one lady ranger I saw up at Gorman last week doing this exact thing.
I paid cash. No sticker, no title and no DMV paper work. I got a certificate of origin in the mail a month later.
That's absolutely ridiculous.
Several of my friends got titles and stickers for their ‘23 and ‘24 dirt bikes. Others have had inspections at DMV and received theirs as well. Not sure how long before it all catches up, but it seems you can still get them, if you want them

VOTE! the Hypocrites running California out of office, citizens of this state who like to have fun riding dirtbikes have only themselves to blame if they voted in these bums.
The moto community should take a page from the liberal playbook and push to get moto people in as rangers and then simply look the other way when it comes to enforcing this.
