I prefer two-strokes, but is now really the time to change the rules?  Three new OEMs are entering SX & MX with 4-stroke models, maybe don’t piss them off (and the current OEMs).  Maybe with more OEMs involved the few privateers you’re trying to help with the rule change will have rides rather than have to worry about the displacement disadvantage.

Has anyone asked KTM or Yamaha if they would be in favor or an equal displacement rule change in the US?

It's not equality, it's not equality, it's not equality.  I've said it atleast 10 times in this post. It is a mere crumb.  This would have zero effect on OEMs current or future, since it doesn't change any of the top riders or placings.  It's so small of a change, it does nothing but please 31% (according to previous posts) of the fans. Helps a couple riders afford to get to races from donors.  That's pretty much it.

Would a 150/300 really be able to compete with a factory or second tier team 250/450?

Two strokes were better racing, but it’s fucked unfortunately.

There's a reason they won't pass this. It's a minor change, and if it wasn't scaring them, they would have passed it and said STFU now.

I think the problem is the 4 stroke capacity. The fact kids are stepping up from 85’s or supermini’s (geographically dependant) straight on to stock 250f’s that produce more power than the last 250 2stroke that pichon or Ricky Carmichael won a championship on is the issue.

I didn't read the whole thread, but even if it was 250-vs 250, all the riders at star would be on four strokes.

It did work up here in Canada outdoors,  very evenly matched.

Do you have an actual theory about why they won’t support a rule change, other than conspiracy type conjecture?

The so called conspiracy was when I called BS on the whole emissions thing, saying 2 strokes were going away.  I got it from someone very high inside Ama that said it wasn't true.  Even though I proved that it wasn't the case when 2 stroke snowmobiles were cleaner than the beloved 4 stroke mx bikes.  People had said they wanted equality back then. The truth came out, that they never ever intended to build 2 competing motorcycles.  I found out later that Yamaha made the statement in the Pro Ama meeting that they couldn't consistently beat the 250 2 stroke with less than a 450cc.  So if they were trying to be equal like they had originally stated way back when, that statement wouldn't have made sense.  Funny how most conspiracies come from truth.

Some day you guys will see, that they have a legitimate fear of letting even a lower cc in. The truth always comes to light.

The manufactures make the rules, AMA just impliments them, The manufactures like selling four strokes, people buy them and they are more expensive to fix than a two stroke, four strokes have many more parts than a two stroke, more profit for the manufactures.

It's a profit deal.

Time for the wimpy 4 strokes to race equal displacement.

They have had 20 years of "affirmative action." Let ALL 250 cc bikes race the Pro 250 cc class.

SX is already struggling with stadiums allowing four strokes to race in them. Recently there have been concerns/complaints of high levels of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide for dome stadiums during SX. There is no way these stadiums and their lawyers allow a full gate of two strokes to race in their 1.5 billion dollar stadium.

Are you high?

ever been to a drag race?

nascar?

indy? F1?

I don't think they do any of those in a dome.

There is no going back in time, 250 and 450 here to stay. Cc for CC let the 250’s race and see who wants to build and sell an open class 2 stroke.
