do you pull the clutch with one finger? maybe i am just weak^^

one finger. Clutch pull gets a bit easier as you rack up a few hours.

Anyone know of an aftermarket case saver/front sprocket cover. I haven't found any

Been looking for one too

This is how HRC does it in the US, shorter bolt and only the aluminium plate. They do have a custom wiring harness and re-route the sensor cable. I don't think it's a good idea to do the same on our bike.

Picked up a 2024. Whoever was on the line that day must have had a fresh jug of grease. Steering bearings were packed well, so was the linkage.IMG 6641

Update on the case saver

I was curious and started following were the sensor cable was routed, turn out it is not part of any harness or anything. It plug just above the battery box behind the engine mount. It is the perfect length for it to be re-routed around the ignition cover just like on the HRC bikes. I'll buy one of those cable holder like they have.

Not as clean on the front of the engine, but that way you can remove the plastic sprocket cover and run the aluminum plate.

Are you riding MX? Aren't most people are going one up on the rear? that's what I'll do this winter

One up on the front sprocket is the equivalent of 3-4 down on the rear, that is huuuge

My son is 17 years old, 200 lbs. b rider. The forks on this bike are harsh as hell, which I’m sure you all know. The magazine tests say the springs are good for somebody 200 pounds, then other magazine say it don’t matter how much you weigh this bike is just harsh. I’m just looking for any help to get the bike dialed better for him or we just gonna have to do the complete re-valve. just trying to weigh out my options. Thanks in advance.

They are harsh, but has nothing to do with weight. I’m 160, maybe the same speed (faster 30+ pace) , I went stiffer in the front and rear. Sometimes something that’s too low in the stroke feels harsh but it’s not because it’s too stiff. What really made the difference was the Factory Connection revalve. Their linkage helps as well but that’s really the finishing touch.

TLDR, send it to FC for stiffer springs and a revalve. In the meantime run the forks at 3mm height, 108 sag in the rear. Hit up Jake at FC: jacob@factoryconnection.com, tell him you want Max’s setting. If he still doesn’t like it after that he’s gotta go faster / hit the bumps better.

I had FC redo mine on my 23 and still hated that bike enough to sell it.

Some bikes just don’t work for some people. What did you like better?

Totally agree. I came off a 5 year hiatus where my last bike was a 17 CRF250R, the 2022 just didn’t give me the same Honda comfort and feel I remembered. Went to a YZ. Still a great package just seemed more rigid and not as easy to ride.

I’d be riding out in the desert.  Pretty open trails and grass tracks.  I had a 2015 that I increased the c/s sprocket by one.  On a 2023 250 xc-w now, but like 250Fs.

Yeah I enjoyed the 19-23 Yamaha. I just hated the vague front end feeling at lean in, and the engine disrupted the chassis so much mid turn for me. I also felt so cramped on it. I’ll see god with some head shake and ride a bit smarter on the Honda for how well it behaves in turns and the ergonomics.

I could see that. I had a 19, YZ250F I sold for the 17 Honda. Hopefully my 2024 YZ250F that shows up tomorrow will resolve some of the issues you mentioned after listening and reading shootouts/reviews.

Jacob is a great guy, I messaged him a while back to get some help with mine. Unfortunately FC don't have an outlet/partner in the UK so I'm having to scratch around local to do my revalve but I have six months or so to do it now since I'm in for ACL replacement in a couple weeks. Either way, he was super-helpful in what to do and I have some instructions to hand over to whoever does mine!

Your review of your 19 yz250f is literally spot on for what I experienced with mine when I had it! Even had kit suspension on it.

Yoshimura Exhaust. Hard to tell since the bike is totally fresh, but power certainly feels broader and has some more rear wheel connectivity to me.

Am I remembering correctly that it's not common protocol to clean the oil screen, as it's not easy to access? On Yamaha's and Kawasaki's, it was pretty easy to access.

I didn't even know there was one... although almost 50 hours and no issues so id say its not a big deal. Ill be cracking it open for a clutch and a top end here soon I'm curious to see how everything looks.

Need to split the cases to get to the screen on the Honda.

has anyone had issues with front sprockets fitting? I’m scratching my head here. I have the oem one, a renthal which both fit no problem, and I have attempted to replace it with both a it and a sunstar and neither of them will clamp down, with the bolt tightened and torqued the washers and sprocket are still loose. They’re a whole 1-2mm thinner. Not sure what the issue is or if I’m doing something wrong. Has anyone come across this?

See if it is a 2022+ sprocket.

The 21 are almost a mm thinner

Has to be what the issue is, even though all the parts catalogs I looked at had them all the same, and sunstar had the same part numbers. Same with the dealership I got the jt one from.

Thank you. Can’t believe no one else has caught on to that with the catalogs.

Anyone know if the suspension is the same as the same gen 450? As in I can pull the suspension off my 250 and put it on a 450
