It’s funny how people say Roger is too biased towards KTM….it’s like we can’t remember a whole year ago when it was Japanese bikes only.  Listen…I think it’s past time for Roger on MXdN…but I always felt he supported the best riders being on the team, if they would step up, over brand.  It’s just KTM is more willing than the Japanese brands to support MXdN…especially in Europe.  Big diff….put the majority of the blame where it belongs….on the teams.  If they have hard feelings towards Roger then maybe they should grow the fuck up….it’s not middle school. …as for Deegan…if he had really wanted to go it would have happened.

So Deegan runs the Team?  No he doesn't.  He did say he could have gone and had a basically stock bike and would have had to pay his own expenses etc.  Would you do that if you were him?  The comfort level of having the resources you are used to is arguably more important than showing up.

If he was such a 'patriot', yes, he would have gone.  This is the fact Deegan can't escape - him at the prodding of his dad - pushed the American patriot schtick and then didn't go to the MXON when it was clear he was the best 250 rider. I find it incredibly difficult to believe he would have been riding on a 'basically stock bike' and the expense of attending would have been chump change to him and his family.  I have nothing against Hayden, he's a young kid being manipulated by his dad.  Brian, however, is a phoney.

I think a lot of blame should go on teams.  Specifically blue and green.  Of course they have a right to spend money where they want …but I have the right to think they are douche bags for some of those decisions.

as for the Deegan debate….  If Eli were healthy and wanted to go is there anybody that thinks Star says no?  Of course they would go and you never would have heard jack shit about budgets.  Now…look at the list of Star riders.  While I don’t really like Deegan and I do like Justin Cooper…who do you see on that list with even close to the fan base as Deegan and the perceived prospects of a big career?  Nobody has the prospects of Deegan …..and Eli will ride one or two more SX season.  The future is Deegan as far as Yamaha is concerned.  Sure…they hope some of the others have success but right now….Deegan is the name.  If he had pushed then Star would have gone.  What was their list of “demands”?  Were they realistic?  As for Brian, and Haden, saying what they said…he only cares about his brand so if you blindly trust that as to what exactly went down then I have a bridge in San Fran I will sell you.  Hell..the comment he would be on a stock 250 is fucking laughable.  Even last second he could have had all the works suspension with him and easily had a built engine and aftermarket exhaust.  Roczen had far less support then Haden would have had and kicked ass.

How do you know his dad was prodding him to do the "patriot schtick" ?

We can argue if he wanted to go or it was the teams decision all day. And apparently that's what you all plan on doing. But I can say with certainty Deegan isn't afraid of any rider.

Can you link to one interview or PR from team Deegan BEFORE the race that he wants to do the race but Star will not let him go? Any PR from Star that they will not go BEFORE the race? Not hearsay from DC or anyone else but an actual statement? You say we can’t take the word of someone that he didn’t want to go after Chase was out as fact but you will take the word of others as fact.

What?! You are saying we shouldn’t trust DC and gang that covered for Deegan at LL? I’m shocked you would think they are biased and we can’t take them at their word!!

Waiting for the day this kid weans himself off of his daddy.

He's an awesome talent on the bike.

So much so that he needs to seriously separate himself from the soap opera drama associated with his dad's bullshit.

He and that bike can speak for themselves.

Yeah, tell dad "thanks for getting me here, you can just go sit in the cheap seats now".

Yes, every member of the MX1 & MX2 Factory Yamaha team was there and fully supported.

Obviously this was a Yamaha U.S.A. / Star Racing decision.

C'mon fellas...anyone with eyes can see Deegan is the real deal.  He is an elite talent.

But, there is no denying the Capt America bullshit they played up all summer.

Sadly, when we needed him it was..."If Sexton ain't going...neither am I".  Basically...if we can't win...I'm out.

I've said it before...what he does is ENTIRELY his business...how I feel about it is MINE.

DonM wrote:

Deegan may or may not have said it, but Bobby Regan said it to Weege.  Quoting Jason Weigandt from the RacerX Exhaust #236 podcast…

“Bobby Regan - I talked to him at Chicagoland and he said this was my call, we didn’t want to waste our time going if we didn’t have a team we thought could win”

“he told me it wasn’t about money”

It's also Star's motorcycles. Some here seem to think the riders can just waltz into the shop, grab a couple of engines and sets of suspension and fly around the world without the team having a say in it.

Exactly.  Maybe they can start their own team.but its easier to complain on vital about others decisions.

Because Plessinger would give his left nut to represent his country? He doesn't "play" that role. What a strange comparison..

Alright take MXDN out of the picture, the repping of America is far more criticized when it comes from Deegan, the literally only American rider to get an overall in the 2023 AMA Outdoor season.

Why is it different? Is it illegal to rep the country if you don't race MxDN?

You mean like the Deegans did when he was still an amateur?  When he had 1/100th the following he has now?  They didn’t have to waltz in…they just demanded.  Star almost lost, and should have, one of their full pro race bikes and engines on that one. (See claimgate). You see…just the threat of not sticking with Yamaha is how they had the leverage to do that….and you don’t think he can do it now that he had an unbelievable rookie season and is 100 times more known/popular??  Okie dokie smokie…..

Who is this "Yamaha" you speak of?  The Star team is a completely different team than the MXGP Yamaha Teams and the bikes are different too along with different fuel.  He is racing at the highest level in the world and some of you think he can just roll across the world and get on a stock 250F and compete with factory efforts including 450's.  If he was in the 450 class, then he could bring suspension, ECU, and a mechanic and likely be just fine, but not on the small bike.

Why is it ok if Plessenger "reps" the American shit but Deegan when does it's a problem, don't give me Plessenger went to MxDN bullshit he is like 5th in line if the others were healthy or wanted to go.

Alright take MXDN out of the picture, the repping of America is far more criticized when it comes from Deegan, the literally only American rider to get an overall in the 2023 AMA Outdoor season.

Why is it different? Is it illegal to rep the country if you don't race MxDN?

I think partly it's because when AP does it, it's with a good natured feeling.   AP's not doing it to bring anyone down, or to whip up some unsavory xenophobia.  With the Deegans there's always an arrogant edge to what they do, and the 'America' stuff was clearly aimed at the Lawrences.

They should have realised, however, that it was cheap and phoney and in no way would have impacted the Lawrences.
