Club had a legit chance at a WSX Podium with Lopes.

It's a bummer, I thought Club would have been happy for him recieving and excepting the Star ride.

Big fan of what Club do and how they do it and also the folks involved.

Enzo did great last year, I'm sure that was a good result for both him and the team. If an offer from a factory team materialises, how can you expect a professional athlete, in a sport with such a small window to succeed and such a high chance of injury or bad luck, not to take that shot?

Hopefully someone else needing a break and some solid equipment and support can try and put themselves on the map on that Club bike now?

Reynolds is rumored to fill the open spot at Club

If you really knew what was happening to him there, you would 100% support him going to Star Racing

Here we have our supposed insider who has knowledge, but chooses to go the route of...

"I know something, I'm gonna let you all know I know something...but I'm not gonna tell you that something."

Feel free to get this something off your chest Igor otherwise we will all have to speculate that Enzo was locked in a basement most of the time as a sex slave.

Enzo had  resigned with Club for next season. And then backed out of the contract .  If He had never signed the extension with Club, then I think everybody is happy for him to get a shot on Star. He backed out of the new contract he had with Club, and DID NOT fulfill his obligations on that new contract.  He used a clause in the contract to get out of it.

I can understand Enzo wanting to ride for Star. I just think its a bad move on his part.Since He had ALREADY signed with Club for 2024 . Club expected to have him as a rider and who knows what it could do as far as damaging other contracts they have with other team sponsors.

Cooper was at the end of a contract with KTM, and BOTH were unhappy and they were not going to work together again in 2024. Cooper got out of his contract a couple months early. While Enzo bailed on the new contract before it started.

I can understand why he would want to ride a Star bike. But knowing how Club stepped up to build a team around him when he did not have anybody else willing to help him.And him having signed with Club already for 2024.Having to break that contract to go to star is what I think was a bad decision. I hope it works out well for him, and he doesn't end up having Star use some   clause to boot him.

Club should be grateful for the time he stayed there and helped the team grow, but there they prioritize the best-known drivers, with salaries and equipment

Enzo has never achieved a podium result and doesn't race outdoors either. To me it's expected to pay previous race winner / podium finishers and provide more for them as well. That's just how it works when you're not on a factory team.

Hasn't there already been some talk of this? Lopes used a clause to get out of the extension with Club after getting a late offer from Star. And having already committed to Club. In my opinion it was disrespectful of Lopes to do that the way it sounds like he did it.

I'm sure somebody will chime in who is better at condensing the story and details down, that can give a fuller version of what happened than I can.

Can't wait to see what Lopez can do with the Star Yamaha.

I am pretty sure that is not exactly true . From what I heard it was Enzo backing out and Club was not super happy.

Did he back out of the contract or use a clause that allowed him to get out of the contract? In the legal world those are pretty different things. I bet Club rewrites their contracts going forward.

I am Bummed for Club they seem like a Great Team all around not really a fan of Star.

I haven't listened to the podcasts but wouldn't his "old" contract have included WSX this year? Seems he walked his "old" contract early, before the "new" one kicked in.

He used a clause in the contract to get out of it. I know legally  using the clause might not be considered backing out of the contract.  It might end up being a good thing for Enzo. But it could also make it much harder for him to get a ride if he is not a consistent front runner on the Star bike.

I just feel like since he had signed with Club, he should have kept his word. Since I do not know the exact wording of the clause, maybe its not as underhanded as it seems to be. It sounds like it could have been handled better though, if Club is really unhappy about it.

Oh get that crap out of here. Enzo is only a podium guy on good days. Scared to race outdoors because he isn’t as good at it and by all accounts of people at club Mx is not willing to go above and beyond to put in the work to improve.

I guess it would depend on how its written. The press release said it was an extension, when Club said they had a deal with him.   So it could have been effective immediately and just moved the end date of the contract to next year. But that is speculating on my part.

I listened to the podcast he did with Pulp. And they did not get into it much. Just said he was able to get out of the contract because of a clause in it. He did not sound like he wanted to talk about contract stuff at all.

Good on Enzo. As much as teams and riders talk about their teams being 'family' and their contracts being 'relationships', the fact is they are business agreements in a free market economy.  Teams don't give a shit about anything but performance ultimately - as they should - because they're running a business.  Likewise, Enzo should care about nothing but furthering his own career.

^ agreed, really.

If it was a super, super small team or an individual who was helping out a privateer that was getting the shaft, it would be a bit different. I'd still be stoked for Enzo but I'd be real bummed out for the folks backing him.

It still sucks for Club and nobody likes to see a dude go back on their word, or bailing on a contract, but this is a straight up 'taking your best opportunity' decision that he pretty much had to make given how much of their lives these guys put into trying to make it.

Sued for what? 😂

Even if that was the case, surely if you start a sentence with "I heard..." and end it with "...but who knows what really went down" then can't you say pretty much whatever you like? 🤷

Don’t have a dog in the fight but if Club is going to be upset about anything, they should be upset at themselves for letting the clause in question be in said contract.

Rumors are Club is not happy. This podcast with Enzo further explains the rumors (link below). He said he unfollowed Club on socials and that he “hopes he can go by their pit area again one day”. I can understand being upset your top rider is leaving for a better team but to not be happy for someone you supported is just odd too me. No offense to Club but they’re a team that should be a stepping stone for riders to showcase their skills in an effort to get a factory ride but they’re not on the same level as a factory team. Hope this doesn’t tarnish their relationship with Yamaha :/

I’m sure if he said he was leaving for Star BEFORE signing a new contract with Club they would be fine. But I’m sure Club was pitching sponsors with the prospect of Lopes show casing their product and then had to go back to these people and say “whoops, he’s no longer riding for us” Can’t imagine that being a pleasant experience…

It would be hard to turn down an offer like that. Seeing what Star has, bikes + facilities, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. It’s no secret Club has struggled a bit with bikes, they just don’t have the budget.  Racing against a Star bike would have you wanting one so badly when you are that talented.

In saying that, a team like Club picking up Reynolds would be great. He needs a top second tier team, has the skills and that facility and program could do great things for him. I almost like that move more than having Enzo on their bike sx only.

Imagine the mentoring Reynolds could get from veterans Phil and Jmart, even Marchbanks who rode for Mitch.

I really think it could be a golden opportunity to do a reset on getting Jetts career re- launched. Hope they sign Jett.
