Because if we don't, it didn't happen? It's public information.

The incident occurred August 7, 2023.

Regarding the criminal justice system in GA, Izzi had prior convictions in GA for drug offenses, shoplifting and burglary. The burglary was a 1st degree felony and he received no jail time. Now he allegedly roughed up a woman on crutches in front of a kid, and it appears the prosecutors dropped the kidnapping, 2 counts of battery and 2 counts of cruelty to children, and allowed him to plead guilty to simple disorderly conduct. Mind you, this is just one State he also has rap sheets in WI, MI, AR and CA including a conviction where the female victim had a broken nose, broken ribs, ruptured eardrums and lacerations.

I do not believe the 12 month sentence agreed to by the prosecution and approved by the judge is sufficient to deter future criminal behavior. That doesn't help Izzi or his future victims.

What a piece of shit... I have zero sympathy for Izzi, hope he never returns to motocross again.

The hype about a year ago when he was back riding was always kind of odd to me. Everyone was doing interviews and videos with him.

What does it tell about the motocross community, that we welcome an addict who has a long record including beating up women and kids with open arms and celebrate that he is back? Absolutely pathetic.

Nobody is "happy", that is a delusional take. Just because we are realists and call it like it is, doesn't mean we are happy about it.

Nope.  I don't know the whole story.  If he did ask for help when he was 19 and people close to him didn't respond, then that sucks and they should feel like shit.

However, his history since then is not excused because he asked for help 15 years ago and like I said he was in jail long enough where the addiction would be behind him....so he made the choice to continue to be a criminal.

You seem to keep thinking the addiction just magically disappears after some time of not using. The drugs are simply a symptom of a bigger problem. The defects of character still and will always exist and require constant acknowledgment and work. This can only happen after one is honest with themselves. This honesty sometimes comes after a rock bottom. My rock bottom was similar to Izzi’s but this was the best gift I’ve ever been given. The gift of desperation.
Thankfully I didn’t have a bunch of people telling me what a piece of shit I was. The shame and guilt I put on myself was enough and the ones that truly cared stuck by my side and believed in me.
I hope he gets the help he needs and takes the journey of being brutally honest after this but who knows, maybe this isn’t rock bottom.

I’m a believer that addiction is a disease, but once diagnosed it is up to the ‘patient’ to assist with their treatment. Choosing not to fully fight the disease changes my perspective dramatically, especially after the patient has received previous consequences and still chooses to not help in their treatment/recovery.

I see the glass half full.

He's just trying to pad his resume so he can get a Soft White Underbelly interview. That Mark guy can be a real hard ass when it comes to who he interviews. Tongue

Some of the most raw interviews ever. Every 6 months or so I go down his youtube rabbit hole.

Well,... Nico needs someone like Aldon who calls or meets with him every day to make sure he is on the strait and narrow. Someone who gives him structure, a plan to go about every day to limit the temptation to get high.

Will power doesn't work when your drug of choice is so enjoyable when you are high. You think about that relaxing feeling every moment until you fulfill it.

I hope he finds his moment of clarity sooner then later.

No. Nico needs to WANT to be better. That's the only thing that would help him.  He's shown us he doesn't want to be better....he's made that choice. He's got to live with it

He looked and acted like he was still strung out. Not only does he still act like a addict he sounds like a POS. Children, women and a elderly lady. The dude hopefully will come across someone that does not give 2 shits about the former motocross star.

Thats very true, he has to want it first, then get help.

Don't they have "sponsors" in AA? Folks who have gone through what the addicted person is struggling with and can be there at any time, be it on the phone or in person to help when the addict is being tempted? That's more what I was referring too.

Anyways. I was talking with my older sister who is a recently retired nurse. We were talking about the drug problem in our areas and the walking zombies holding their tin foil, often times collapsed on the ground. Narcan got brought up and she told of her experience of watching overdose folks who were given it. She said it works immediately, and its pretty amazing but then she added what happens next quite often. The person whos life the Narcan just saved is PISSED and may become violent...in my sisters words, "You just ruined their high!" She said that on some occasions they had to give the same addict narcan twice in one day.

Good grief.

He participated in the 2022 Red Bull Straight  rhythm and there was genuine interest and a common desire from the long time members of the moto community to see him get back on track and do better for himself.

Whether you like it or not, Izzi, JLaw , Stroupe are names that will be discussed because everyone knows those guys should have been multiple time champs but unfortunately their lives took a different turn. The same way Netflix keeps making serial killer documentaries because it draws interest, when someone who was a major part of the moto community fucks up….. it is also a topic of interest. The fact this thread has racked up 4 pages since I last logged in is a good indicator of that.

I know of one who got 8 doses of Narcan in one day, only to die on the 9th OD…in one day.

I was a volunteer firefighter/EMT for 10 years...up till 2022. I can confirm that nurse's statement. They tend to wake up pissed, sometimes swinging at you. I'm like "Man, you weren't high...you were DEAD"

Well, I didn't say anything magically disappears, but if you detox in jail for more than a year I would suggest that's pretty damn close.  I did not say he was a piece of shit, but he absolutely deserves to be where he is and has had many chances to get his life together.  I refuse to accept "blaming the drugs" or "he has to hit rock bottom", or any other EXCUSE for him kidnapping, assaulting, stealing, committing battery etc not just once but multiple times.

I guess it is news. I commented before without really knowing all that Izzi has done. While I don’t like people’s bad things being aired out like this, it’s important to realize there are victims in their wake. And if their actions are egregious enough, then they need to give an account of what they’ve done (regardless if they’ve gotten off lightly as it appears Izzi has). So far I’m unaware if Izzi has any remorse or is sorry for anything or anyone he has hurt. It appears he isn’t. From the charges he has, he needs to be banned from the sport at the very least.

It’s not close. If one has been clean and sober for 10 years, they’re still an addict or alcoholic. Just because they haven’t used or drank doesn’t mean they’re cured. It just means they haven’t drank or used. The character defects that lead them down that path still exist.
He needs to be accountable for his actions, no question. No one or anything is to blame for what he’s done to himself or others except Nico.  This is the main point. Until he’s honest with himself and others, he will never take accountability and keep heading down this path. Each time, rock bottom gets lower and lower until he’s dead or in prison for the rest of his life.

I agree with all that.  He will have to make that decision, but far too many are making excuses for him because of the addiction.  I do understand and empathize with him as a kid in that environment.....but he is far past that now.  Too bad.
