Well that's his headline.  I just saw a 3 minute clip on YouTube this morning that was interesting because it explained a little more in-depth as to what was going on between the powers that be, Star Yamaha and Haiden.  Sounds like Haiden and Star was willing to go but, because the organizing was so late, Star Yamaha had a deadline and the time was up.  Let's get on the planning now!

Star had numerous riders that were very good possibilities to make the team going into the year. Why would they not be prepared for a rider being put on the team?

I wonder what the request list from Star was that they didn't reply to?

That would have been a good question for Jace to ask them.

It's not our money to spend getting a guy over there.

Obviously there are lots of inter-team politics involved here.   Team USA has become very KTM-brand centric, most would likely say due to Roger's position as Team Manager.  I believe it's been said that Kawi essentially refuses to participate based on the fact that it requires coordination, cooperation, and possibly some knee bending to the KTM group.  Were there not reports from a few years ago that the Kawi guys were pissed that when they went over (I believe with Tomac) that there was very little, if not strained, actual "team work" going on between them and Roger or the rest of "team USA"?  All that being said, my guess is that Star/Bobby don't want to be in a position of being jerked around by KTM-group as they were dragging finalizing the rider list and likely made a hard deadline - "you tell us by this date or we are out".  As was said in the video, there are a lot of logistical considerations and no one wants to be doing all of that at the last minute.

So, it was actually Bobby Reagan who told YAMAHA, "here's the terms, we need to know by said Friday". And YAMAHA never called Bobby back to confirm. So Bobby said, I guess we aren't going then.

Why wouldn't Yamaha want to go? Is it because they just had to pay contract signing for Cooper Webb's deal?

I bet Cooper was on of the things they wanted to happen for Yamaha to go.  And Roger probably didn't want that press about coop and leaving the team.  It would have been a main talking point Cooper on a Yamaha

Roczen went with parts getting a one bike there ,  if he had really wanted to go he could have found a way ,

it wouldn’t have mattered so much if he wasn’t beating his chest as the only true American contender ,  good on jase for asking him about it ,

They proposed terms to the AMA selection committee, not YAMAHA

Haiden also admitted that he he was ready for a break and a mental reset. Although he said he would have went if Yamaha was willing to send him. The U.S series is insanely long and competitive. I couldn’t imagine being a 17 year old rookie running the full schedule at the pace that Deegan ran every week.

It is always easy for us keyboard warriors to make assumptions about a person/ team. Evidently it is easy for us to spend other people’s money as well.

Last year at RedBud Star let Geerts and a few others use Star Yamahas, I wonder if Bobby asked for the same in return this year and wasn't getting it.

The "terms" was mentioned multiple times.  I would love to know what those terms were.  Otherwise, that interview reminded me more of a weak media interviewing a politician (giving BS answers) and avoiding the tough questions...

He said Yamaha in the video, not the AMA. So we don't know what the story is. But I can definitely see AMA being the issue more than Yamaha.

With kawi pulling out, Yamaha leaning that way too, and Suzuki fading away, Team USA really feels like a best of the KTM group, which is a shame. Really depends on how you look at it; either good on KTM for stepping up and answering the call, or bad on KTM for alienating the other brands.

That's why I didn't bother to watch. Dude loves to put up clickbait. Even in the title of the vid it said "his rivalry with the Lawrence's." The Lawrence's plural? Hunter, sure. Is there a rivalry with Jett, who he's never raced before and isn't even in the same class?

I don't remember hearing that Star wouldn't go until after Matthes mentioned on his show that Deegan didn't want to represent. That's not a good look after his "put the American up front," comments.

I think Star is just providing cover. They would've gone.

He said pretty much what I thought he would say, same with Brian. I then watched The Craig Family vlog of the whole trip to France and it was a really good watch. It's an hour long but a good watch.

I'm sorry but the Deegans are full of shit.. i can't stand the marketing america hero all summer long not wanting to go to the mxon to represent your country.

And please stop saying you do your vids for the fans when you only do it for the money (which is alright but at least admit it)

Actually it was the other way around team Kawi refused to be part of the team at the race and wouldn't even use the team radios and chose to use there own...

They didn't let they leased their bikes, rig and mechanics to several euro riders...
