The difference is we do this for free. If he was in his home butchering the anthem, thats one thing. But his horrid excuse of a performance makes SX look like a damned joke. I was watching it with friends who knew very little about supercross and all they could do was laugh, it was an embarrasment for our sport

I have had the honor of playing both the American national anthem and the Canadian national anthem for 20 yrs plus. I have 2 versions of the Canadian and 15 versions of the American.
While I love the Hendryx version. I would never play it locally. I try to play a different version each week,with the words. I think if I mix it up maybe people will actually pay attention and listen to it( I am a military brat). The difference is locally it is a race for race family's. At Supercross it is a race show,for race and non race fans alike. Possibly Ace's version fit rather well for the punch drunk crowd at A1. Maybe they can have Metallica play their version next.
I personally didn't like Ace's performance,but then again my wife says I am just showing my age.

The American National Anthem is the only music/song that effects me to the bone every time I hear it. Goose pumps. Pride. Honor.

It should be illegal in the United States of America to take any (zip, zero, ziltch, nada, etc) poetic justice when performing it at any general publicly attended event.

Screw the guitar shit, the opera shit, the spiritual shit, the pop shit, the drama shit, etc.

If you can nail it stock then sing it. If you want to personalize it get your own country first.

Glad I missed it. The sx promoters should be ashamed. But then again they don't care about the sport. Just the TV show and the money.

He butchered it badly. He was in the wrong key twice.

With that said, something was bothering him. I couldn't tell if it was his personal mix, or the smoke thing that was supposed to start working from the first note but didn't? Either way it was bad.

For some reason I don't think this is Ace, but if it is I just want you to know when the 4 separate albums came out i only had the money to buy one and I bought yours. Speed has the worst HD signal of any channel, i wouldn't imagine them doing any better with sound.
