Off Season topic - Where are you from & How can we help?

I have always loved the USA and it has been a life long dream to find a place in the mountains where I can retire but sadly that ship has sailed. I want to come back and visit. There are so many beautiful states...I have a thing for mountains and trees.

In 2018 diving up to Washougal from LA,  I drove through the closest thing to heaven. Don't know the name of the area but the trees, the lakes and there was this really big mountain in the distance (I'll find a pic to post here) with snow on top. It gave me goosebumps...man, to have the money to own a small piece of land with a cabin...that's the dream right there.

Ayyy that's where I grew up (Mtn View HS Grad in 2013). I now live in the Portland area.

I think that's Mt Hood. I'm only an hour away.

There's a nice track like 20 minutes away from there as well.

I was born and raised in San Diego, but I've lived in Yokosuka, Japan (about an hour south of Tokyo) for the past 27 years. Not much in the way of riding in the local area, but I have a house at the beach so I wake up to a view of Tokyo Bay every morning and that never gets old.

If you have time go to Hiroshima for a few nights.  Absolutely amazing to visit the Peace Park and Museum.

Yes Cayden, it's Mt Hood. I recall we also hit a track somewhere up there called Switch Back. I stand to be corrected.

North of Hokkaido will be super nice in spring. Great for hiking, especially around Shiretoko. I’d recommend taking a guide with you, this place is infested with brown bears.

For as much as I love Australia, when I see pictures like this, the only thing I can think about is there's at least a dozen things I can't see in this place that want me dead.

Dean when you come over, what you do depends on where you go. Like ando said, if you go to Hiroshima, the Peace Park is a pretty somber place. The museum had some really interesting stuff in it, but the descriptions of what happened in 1945 had too much of a "poor little Japan was just minding its own business when the big bad Americans dropped a nuke on us" tone for me.
If you come to Tokyo, let me know. I'm only about an hour train ride away, so if I don't have any work crap going on, I'll buy the first round.

Little SE of Green Bay WI. If you are in this area can direct you to some good supper clubs, where to get a good old fashion or Bloody Mary on Sunday mornings. Can also help find a place to ride and slowly I’m finding some decent off road riding so might be able to help out there also. In winter months I have some decent snowmobile routes that I don’t mind sharing if you are into some trail riding.

I would say it wasn't prominent, but picked up on that theme at the Peace Park as well.  I learned some other interesting stuff that doesn't belong in this thread.

We have no real predators here no bears, wolves, wild cats, or any large animal that’ll kill you. Can’t remember last time I heard someone died from a snake bite or spider.

Boom it was mt hood you can see around the Vancouver Portland area.

I live just a lil south of Seattle the view from my backyard this morning. Of mt rainier if it was clearer you'd be able to see it better.  We have more mountains like that here in WA then Oregon. Mt rainier mt Adam's mt st Helen's mt baker.

We have two mt ranges here in WA the smaller one out towards the coast. The Olympic mt range. And part of the rocky mountains that runs through the middle of the state.

Western b.c. Canada also has a lot of that as well.

And I don't know if you ever had the privilege of hearing this song at washougal. Early morning during sign up it was like the wake song first thing they'd play over the pa. Slowly turning up the volume for like the first minute.

No that's mt rainier here in WA state. Mt hood is the one you see around Portland Oregon. Imagine hearing that song at like 7am and your still half asleep.

You should do that sometime at a race over there. The youngin's will be like wtf is this? I had them play it at the old timers race at shougal this year. They hadn't for a long time. My friends who hadn't heard it where like wth is this. Other friends were like dude!! It's the chicken song!!
