The MXoN starts always some hype, but in the USA the teams doesn't seem to be hyped at all. I've mine opinions about that, but won't share them. But if you are STAR Racing, and you make it happen that someone who wants to go: Haiden Deegan can't go because you doesn't want to support the event, neither the rider...
And to round it up, you try to use the MXoN hype to sell your new baseball caps, with an advertisement around Eli Tomac his 2022 MXoN bike. Mine personal opinion is to do that you need to be a hypocrite team. Same goes for all those brands who bring MXoN-limited series but doesn't give a dime to the rider neither to the national federation to make it work out, because at the MXoN non of the teams is making money.
I would say it's a cultural thing with the riders more than Star not wanting to support the event.
Your grammar could be cleaned up just as much as the topic you’re bitching about.
You do realize english may not be his first language.
Fair point..

And being form Belgium, i'm sure Mattii can speak and/or understand at least 3 to 4 languages. What about you Nickell?
Why would Star or any other team want to send guys over? We already have THE WORLD championship in the US. Get to rep our country year round and don’t even have to go far
Because every now & again a world class rider will wild card a late season race in your home turf & show you there is a bigger prize out there if you dare chase it.
Everyone knew deegan didn't want to go and star covered his ass by saying they don't support the event, just to not make him look as bad.
Not that I disagree but show me a link where they say they don't support the event. As far as I know all they said was they won't be going this year.
When the conditions are favourable (they race in USA) there is a queue to be called up, last year Barcia and Anderson were willing to go down to MX2 to participate, this year, the FIM gave Team USA a leave of absence for the team (as they had to be registered 1 month before the competition) until 3 weeks ago Team USA had not made the registration, if it wasn't because Craig put a Tweet wanting to participate they would not have competed this year, when they can win they are the most patriotic in the world but when they can't they make excuses.
MXGP, FFM, FIM need to Pay the fookin riders. Yes riding for your country is good but these guys put their loves on the line pay them
His English is WAY better than my German, French or non-existent Dutch, so maybe we should give the Belgian guy a pass... 😂
Tell me you're not from the USA without telling me...
Real question: Who pays for the team, bikes and salaries just to attend an event for 1 rider? Because last time I checked the teams have to fork over $70K+ and the rider still has to pay about $15K. Its a lot of money just to attend 1 event. What's the purse? I've never heard what the payout is other than pride.
What's the breakdown of the 95+k per rider, seeing as you checked?
I think all info that Star didn’t want to go was just cover for Deegan not wanting to go. Any budgetary stories are bs when you look at the amount of $ they put in to it all year. Look at the massive staff, rigs, bikes, riders, equipment …ect. It’s expensive but worth it for the bike sales and advertising for sponsors. This event gives that advertising in spades. That IS the business. When your future(rider), who they will do anything to keep happy, wants something then the cost of that something is relatively small compared to what they are spending anyway. Keeping that future for the brand happy also includes taking the hit to provide cover for a rider(and dad) that doesn’t want to do something. That’s my opinion on what really happened. I think on that track in France and that environment, with competition that is much more accustomed to it, then Haden would have gotten smoked. I think they knew that was a possibility and the risk/reward to the brand was not worth it. The Euros, especially the French, were locked and loaded for that race.
Well Star wanted $70K from french federation just to attend, bring bikes, bring employees, big rig. And Dylan still would have to pay out of pocket for his own airfair and lodging. Which is easy $15K spending 1.5 weeks there and a round trip ticket.
Star where happy to go , deegan bottled it
Pit Row
Reminds me of one time we were traveling in Europe and the hotel staff kept apologizing to us for "bad" English. We kept saying, "please, so not necessary... at least you know English". Too many Americans go over there and treat people like shit for not knowing English....of course giving the rest of us Americans a bad name. Many Americans are too stupid to learn a 2nd language. When traveling, we always tried to learn enough of the local language to show some respect to our hosts.
As to the topic. I don't really have a problem with the merch sales, but I wouldn't purchase them either.
Folks can bicker over money all they want. Just don't act like your patriotic or the best at something if you are not willing to do what it takes to prove that. Lots of patriotism going on this past weekend. The cream rose to the top...
Who are we to tell Star how they have to spend their money?
Hell must be freezing over because this is the second time in 6 months I agree with you. Valid point on people acting like idiots in foreign countries or even different regions of the US. I’ve seen it many times in my travels.
Funny how your best paid riders ( millions I’m talking here) are the ones that turn their nose up at a patriotic thing like representing your nation for a measly 15k.
The lads from my country ( Ireland) ain’t getting paid and they go every year even to the US and some of them have to work for a living.
Never heard as much BS in all my life as the list of excuses over the last 5 years.
I’m with with Jeff Ward on this one when he says representing his country successfully 7 times at the MXON was the highlight of his career.
We don’t have to tell Star, Yamaha should tell them that they have missed an opportunity to show their wares in front of 100,000 Moto fans and the online viewing. Marketing ways it’s a no brainer. I’m with anyone who thinks that the teenage millionaire and his own brand sensitive entourage figured getting smoked by some kids his own age is a bad look on them.
Regardless of how anyone else feels, if it’s costing a rider money out of their own pocket to go and represent their country, then it should be the riders decision if they want to go or not, end of story. I can’t believe how many people try to rationalize spending other peoples money.
The fact that your entire weekend is decided by ping pong balls should show the level of how many fucks are given by Infront. Personally mxon isnt a race i even consider to watch. Its no different than any other off season race. You can say there is pride on the line but when we struggle to field a team everytime its outside the Us, the pride excuse only goes so far.
Had to do some research. Do it for pride, not the money. But its hard to do that when we're talking $100K per team just to attend and they get nothing in return. $3420 Euros to share for the winning TEAM, that's it. Its literally a charity race. I can't believe I never knew MXdN had worse payout than most local races. And we thought the AMA was cheap on payouts...FIM has the biggest cheapskates.

Their $$. Not yours.
The AMA could require levy on attendance $.25/ticket to make sure the money would be there. Too simple? Oh that's right the money has been there all along so it's not really needed. How many times have we cried we where too broke and couldn't go? The money is the straw man.
Star didn’t want to go because they didn’t have the budget,
Deegan didn’t want to go because his body was worn out doing a full season.
Can’t blame either one.
Star said they will send riders next year because they know how much more to add to the budget.
