Broke my tibia back in June slalom skiing, plate and 15 screws. 10 weeks now, starting to put weight back on it finally. Been pretty rough not being on the bike. At least it gives me some time for some maintenance on the bikes. Did pick up a 110 to play around on  IMG 9650.jpeg?VersionId=tQD6HtXoYMJm7jVAdO

Harbor Freight Knee?, complications from surgery? I was riding in a little over 3 months. I fell on that knee too that day, no worse than falling on the "good" side. You need a better physical therapist.

It finally started to cool off.  Today was out first day under a 100 degrees in about three months.  Time to go to the track along with a new scooter in the garage I want to ride.  Dr told me on Tuesday I can’t ride for three more weeks, got a concussion and neck banged up from a car wreck.  Dr used to ride and said don’t take a chance on hitting the ground, he said it would get a lot worse.

What happed was Beta dealer called the other day said my new 300 RX came in.  Went to bank to get a cashiers check.  Was leaving the bank and got hit.

My left had is still banged up from trying to pull my finger off back in June, but getting a little better.  On top of that my bike carrier was on the back of my Tahoe.  It got smashed/sheared in two pieces.  I have to rig another carrier up.  SUV that hit me from behind ended up totaled with my bike hitch carrier smashed in the grill. Ain’t been my time lately.  Anybody else’s having a run of bad luck and can’t ride.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Kinda sounds like mine. I,m dealing with numerous injuries from running 7 day week 18- 23 hrs mainly the ne. I did get to Tx. Houston to b exact in August. I loved the heat & humidity. My whole body is beaten to hell. All the disk in my neck r ruptured. Constant pinching & can’t turn my head to the rt. The pain & tightness goes into my shoulder. That’s mangled too I couldn’t raise my arm for weeks. Back of shoulder to finger tips all the ligaments r flared up. Yet super busy with a lot of stuff not much is going rt. A lot of pt & ice ing trying diff otc  antiflamatores, prescriptions, muscle relaxers, etc. this cold weather doesn’t help. I did figure out that 3 kinds of epson salt baths works better than a whirlpool. 1 dr said my wrist might b fractured in 2 areas, shoulder ?  I got a prescription cream that worked great on my torn archelies tendon. I,m shocked that it doesn’t help my injuries now. I would never pass the physical test of lifting ,etc now. So I,m working super hard on rehab. And in a hurry because the weather is freezing here.  2 weeks ago n of here it was in the 30,s .

You were riding 3 months after total knee replacement?  That seems a little fast.  Mine just still bothers me some.

Take the time to heal your head so you can focus and so you aren't high risk when you ride.
Make the time to go hang out with your friends at the track and watch them race but leave your bikes at home until you are healed.

I came back this year from a pretty major knee injury and I've had to make some changes to my program.  I've replaced all of my running and most of my practice days with about an hour a day on the mountain bike in some local single-track.

Get on the treadmill or the exercise bike, or go lift some weights during the week to get rid of that anxious feeling that you need to be back at the track too soon.  When do come back, you'll be more fit and more prepared to ride.

Got cross jumped at my local track 2 weeks ago ,front wheel got taken out in the air, landed hard on my shoulder/back , the most winded I’ve ever been, dribbling blood for a few min till I got my breath back.

11 fractured ribs , punctured lung, partially collapsed , sprained rotator cuff

lung is good now was spitting bloody for 5 days though

ribs are slowly healing as is the shoulder

ordering bike parts in my down time 😆

bit of time to reflect and study some techniques 👍

Not from any wreck but decided to get this fucking tennis elbow fixed. Was supposed to be three months off bike. No dr saying tendon was shittier than mri showed so maybe 5-6  before completely healed.

Its funny, as long i landed normal (no iver jump or casing) it never bother me while riding. But i couldn't grab a gallon of milk out of fridge or a sack of groceries out of car. But after 5 injections over 2.5 years i was tired of playing with it.  It especially bothered me while sleeping. I like to totally flex my arm and lay on my hand. It would wake me up throbbing like a bitch. If i ever smacked it on like the wall or door frame  it make you want to cry.

Didn't hurt riding though!! 20230824 102235.jpg?VersionId=Gg6eClSmzxnfP

Yes I was. My PT does pro and college athletes, Worked with Team USA Gymnastics in the past. I think got lucky. My recovery went at a pace he said was in the top 2%. I say lucky because I have a friend that has a TKR and had a recovery like mine. Got his other knee done expecting the same result. It was pure hell for him.

You seem pretty young for a TKR. I know most docs don't want to do them before 50.

Good luck

That's crazy how fast your recovery was.  I had total reconstruction back in 1997, I'm active duty Army, so I think it added to the wear and tear and requiring the surgery.  I think I am better, but still have days going up or down stairs that something doesn't feel quite right.

Bounced off a tree doing single  track Sept 3rd.
Nothing broke. Tendons and, ligaments are tore up though. I can’t lift my arm in front of me. Playing the waiting game till my next appointment.

Get a prescription for a large dose of prednisone. It’s the best antiflamatory. My shoulder, ligaments to my wrist was real bad. Wrist & hand constant throbbing. It’s getting better.  Dr gave me a new antiflamatory it didn’t work. I,ve been taking others & otc stuff a lot of iceing, epson salt baths, whirlpool, new prescription cream, etc. it’s like a full time job with everything.Good Luck healing.

My doc gave me some Prednisone to try and the side effects are so bad for me that it's barely even worth taking.  Maybe a smaller dose would work better, but who knows...  I'm only on 20mg.

My hands are trembling, non-stop eating, sweating, acne, headache, dizziness, itching, blurred vision.  It's kind of driving me crazy!

I’ve been prescribed Prednisone a few times over the years.  It works but makes some people sick as a dog,  me for one.  My doctor prescribed Prednisone couple of weeks back for my concussion.  I never took it.  The head aches from the crap would have been worse than the one from my concussion.

About 4 weeks ago i noticed the outside of my upper thigh started feeling like I got a Charlie horse during my last moto. I didn’t think anything of it, my body is pretty beat up and I don’t take the greatest care of it.

a few days later I got about 20 minutes into a desert loop and hit a g out, not even hard enough to really tense up for and felt a pop or break in the same spot, it sent a hot flash through my whole body and I immediately thought my femur somehow cracked (I have a plate and 16 screws in it from 20ish years ago). I limped it home and was able to walk pretty much normal by the time I got off the bike.

after some reading it seems likely the cause is Meralgia Paresthetica. I only think that because I could feel a slight discomfort in my groin at times. I’ve been taking it easy and doing hip mobility stretches and it feels fine for the most part. This weekend will be my first real ride and we will see how it goes

Haha yeah it’s some intense shit to be on. Even a old granny will tell ya. Oh prednisone I tell my husband stay away from me for the next week. It makes you combative. I had it probably 18 times for diesel & burning antifreeze poisoning, severe  lung& sinus infections ,etc. take it at 6 am & at 1am your still flying, truckers dream pills. Haha .  Dealing with insane traffic etc trucking . I hv to dig deep to relax ,I use a breathing technique. Only side effects I get r feeling like your on a super charger, easily sweating & massive increase in appatite. Your so hungry you want to eat your hand. Haha . Your supposed to gain weight & most do. But I never did. Crazy how good it works for inflammation injuries.  It is bad for your body to be on tho.

I had mine done at 61 in 2018. I feel okay going upstairs coming down feels weird but I am not in the shape I was when I stopped PT but that's on me. I learned to ignore smaller aches and pains that don't put me on the couch for a day or two.

I think there was a world of difference from 1997 to 2018 in medical knee progress. Were you on bed rest and non weight bearing with a full brace? I was doing easy PT on day 3 and weight bearing in 5 days. Moving around on a walker. Using crutches as just in case and walking laps around my pool in a week. In full agonizing PT in 2 weeks. My surgeon said the knee was full strength in 20 minutes (glues and screws). He even told me to climb my stairs but stay upstairs for a few days. I thought he was nuts. The rehab has everything to do with the cutting they do inside the knee.

I was on bed rest for about a month other than PT other than going to PT twice a week and getting on my exercise bike at home.  I think it was about day 3 I started PT.  I didn't get a brace at all, and was at home the same of surgery.  I had to walk down a hallway and small flight of stairs on crutches to get discharged.  I used a walker around the house because it was easier and was using a cane around month 2.  I thought my PT was good, but doesn't sound as thorough as yours was.  I'm definitely better than I was before surgery, I'm probably just a little more hesitant to

While on the subject…. Does anyone go into depression when you come to the realization you will be out for an extended period of time? I know my injury is pretty minor compared to lots of guys on here, some days better than others…. Sucks when everything just comes to an abrupt halt….I’m going to try a Mtn bike ride to test my shoulder today…

F2945AED-2F09-4FCB-AFC6-F1879610E706Get a neoprene shoulder brace. Get a prescription for this anti flamatory cream . It worked on my torn Achilles’ tendon & fluid in ankle. Takes some throbbing away from wrist. My shoulder is a disaster I hv a lot of pain just lifting it. Massive hrs of pt on numerous parts. My torn groin muscle didn’t take 12 weeks. After 2 weeks I rode sat.  Slick hard pack with silt on top hilly track. It started raining we kept riding. I picked up the pace at the end & had a good flow. It felt great.  I,ve delt with injuries since I,ve been a kid. Turn 57 on 11-18 everything in my body is nearly destroyed.  Always in pain but what do you do.  I get real smooth & use a deep channel of focus to keep perfect body position. Tendinitis in the back & tweeked front ligaments in shoulder. Pumps my rt arm up real bad after 2 laps.  So I hv to stay  in perfect position on the bike or there’s no riding.  I think I get depressed just being in Green Bay it’s weird & very boring here.  I hv high enthusiasm , a little wild & joke around too much & can be a little draining on people. I might be moving 100 mi to the south for a job. So I,m Very excited about that for many reasons. People kinda hv it together a little more there. It drives me nuts being here waiting 3 sec for a car to move at a stop lt,  hv to draw them a picture because there so sleepy headed & lazy.

I’m not hurt bad but sill bummed because I can’t ride for 2 more weeks per doctor.   My age is catching up with me and I’m trying to make the best of getting to the track  while I still can.  So yeah I get down and depressed.  Probably shouldn’t but I do.  To make things worse wife had minor surgery a few days back and she’s laid up.  She can’t do much for about four weeks.  I’m having to stay close to home and help her.  Along with my wife having to eat my cooking lol.  To make matters worse vet put Hank the moto weenie on prednisone and it’s making him pee every hour.  With wife laid up I’m stuck as all time dog walker lol!!  I’m guessing in 3 weeks or so I can get to the track.  With my luck it will start fall monsoon season here on the Texas coast in a few more weeks and tracks will be closed haha!

Ok Thx. You think it’s identical ? This stuff worked great on my torn Achilles & surprised it helped with fluid in my ankle.  It only helps a little bit for all my injuries now, there pretty bad I guess.  My new injury a pulled groin muscle about 12 inches down from crotch was black & blue. Walked like a Chicago pimp big limp hard to put weight on leg. Is healed up a lot.  Days & hrs of iceing , whirlpool & that cream.

Everybody is busted up at my house, but not from riding.  Even Hank the 32 pound moto wennie dog is down.  Vet has him on prednisone.  Poor guy drinking water like they are going to quit making it because of steroids/prednisone.  He normally pee’s twice a day, now I have to take him out almost once an hour.  I couldn’t  go to the track if I wanted too.  Oh well, he’s my best buddy and would follow me to hell and back.  Dog are great, only thing wrong with them……..they don’t live long enough.
