I had my doubts and concerns when I first saw the pictures of the track coming together. The drag strip, the concrete barriers. But after watching all the racing. In my opinion, that was some of the best racing I've seen in a long time. Yes some will argue it was a little one lined but there were several guys making passes. But man that was a badass race track.
The split start was awesome. The sand section into a really long straight away and sending a single into the finish jump was awesome. And the option lane was way cool! How the hell did they figure out they were almost be dead even in times? They were really spread apart so it's really awesome to see these kind of features in a dirt bike track. I don't know, to me it was a badass track and really unique. I give the event a 10/10
No
No, Next Question.
Not even close
When I looked at the layout I had my doubts and it was hard to pass but the slit start and other split was interesting. I thought the split start was going to be a major pile up, but was wider then typical narrow down. Seemed to work out ok. Not sure what the riders thought.

The track suked, PERIOD.
Viewing as a spectator was probably great.
That track raced like shit.
Typically with the split designs one side is better than the other but both of these were equally fast.
My question is who was the track designer? Who ever it is did a great job designing to work with what they had to with all the lane barriers and working in some of each of the outdoor and SX designs.
first time watching SX?
The answer to your question: not even close.
I found it interesting that During Fridays practice very few used the outside of the sand section before the finish line everyone was tripling on the inside then on race day it flipped to most railing the outside.
No. BUT I'd rather have that style track than a typical supercross track for indoors. Just add supercross whoops.
First time watching supercross/motocross hybrid track yes.
I agree. Way more entertaining than a standard SX track. I liked the higher speeds
Greatest track ever....that's a tall order.
That said:
1.) It made for some great racing...and yes even passing.
2.) Way better than the standard cookie cutter normal SX season tracks.
3.) Threw a curveball to the racers and couldn't be practiced to death for the usual aerial acrobatics
EDIT:
4.) I personally believe this type of track is safer for the racers.
This is why Daytona and Atlanta (nod to Atlanta) are the best SX tracks of the normal season...ie: something different.
No.
Was it the worst track ever? No, that would be the janky thing I raced in Mexico at Cantamar. SMX Round 1 was far better than that, but not as good as Glen Helen, Pala or Cahuilla on a regular practice day.
That’s hilarious, can we see some 180’ turns so there will actually be racing and not follow the leader?
I liked the track. The options worked and I thought there was some good racing.
I heard them saying on Pulp that there were people from Dirtworks and people that prep for Nationals working on the track. I wonder if they did it that way to try and get it more of a mix of SX and MX, or just to provide the extra people for building a bigger track and moving more dirt? It really did work well for what it was. The split start, and split lanes worked better than I expected. I'm looking forward to the rest of the rounds.
I thought it was pretty good , as far as a ‘hybrid’ track goes I’d say it’s the best I’ve seen , the split lane was cool , clever how they worked that out to be so close being different lengths etc
Pit Row
Thought the high speed straightaways were a waste, they were almost jumping into the face of the finish line jump. Not a fan of the split start but could be fun to make 1 start longer. Left lane, 50 yards, turn and into some wall jumps. Right lane 100 yards, turn, no jumps and joins back together...eh who knows but why not if they're trying different things.
Edit-didnt mean to quote
It was good racing and I like your enthusiasm man, looks like SMX is gonna be fun, I'll leave it at that 👍
"ever" is a looong time.
Personally that track bored me. I fast forwarded through 80% of it.
Im looking forward to the next two tracks though.
Didn't like it at all, had high hopes, but there was something boring about it in the end. Maybe because no whoops?
I love Daytona and Atlanta in the regular SX season, they are awesome!
Thought it was pretty cool, although me and my goon squad concluded that they should’ve used the rest of the drag strip; down a flat fifth gear straightaway, then back a lengthy “Red Bull Straight Rhythm” section, thereby adding 15-20 seconds. And so, it was written.
That’s a no for me dawg
Round 2 looks awesome, bit more room to play with, nice long sand section
I love the racing but daytime stadium\racetrack courses look trashy to me no matter how big and bad they are.
Newp.
Round 2 looks so good! Very motocrossy this time. Should be some good racing! I'm pumped!
