My son was racing in 85C class this weekend. He was the 2nd gate drop. Gate was held longer than normal as a kid from 85 JR crashed in the first corner. My son ended up getting lapped in the very last turn. Held his line around the turn. Didn't slow down more or change lines. 2nd and 3rd place in JR class came into the corner at the same time. One kid followed my son and the other went around the outside. The kid that followed my son lost and ended up flipping him off after the finish then dumping the clutch and roosting him in the pits. What would you do? I just let it go but it dug at me pretty good the rest of the day. I could tell my son was upset even though he did nothing wrong.

The kids parents are the tools, learned behaviour. Be nice if you could so the same to them, but all of it will be lost on them. Just move on and tell your kid not to worry.
Talk to the kid's parents.
I see this stuff more and more these days. When the parents get involved...it just gets worse. I've seen the cops called twice this summer.
This is best handled by the track management. But...we all know that every track has their "untouchables". You know the ones.
Tell your boy he did exactly what he was supposed to do. We take the high road around here. Be proud he’s not the little twat blaming his result on a 1st lap incident.

Why do we have to have a 85C class? If everyone in the 85cc age group races together then there wouldn’t be two gate drops.
Teach your kid that the other kids behavior is unacceptable and if he ever acts like that his bikes are going on Craigslist.
Let the other kid keep embarrassing himself and his parents. It's not up to you to parent other peoples kids, not worth the hassle.
if your kids set a good example that's all you can ask for don't waste time worrying about the punk kids.
Oh he knows that lol. Just bums me out we have 10 and 11 year olds at the track acting like this.
On a positive and up-beat note...
"Son, just keep practicing & whoop his butt on the track!"
As my dad always said to me … just don’t get involved or lower yourself to their level, they are beneath you as exhibited by their behavior.
I would use it as a teachable moment for my son, and a motivator as he gets more skilled to be better than those that were tool bags to him as he climbed up to higher classes.
Oh and that Karma will come around to the little twat that did that to your son… it always does!
Knowing you're the better man (or boy) doesn't seem like much consolation at the time, but you are and a few assholes aren't worth the trouble.
I totally get how it doesn't sit right with you, but it's not worth the energy 👍
Faster kid should have been looking further ahead and chose a different line, his fault definitely not your sons. Shitty people teaching shitty qualities to their kids and not teaching their kids to take responsibility for their own actions/decisions. This seems to be getting more common and is happening even on practice days.
The practice day thing pisses me rightttt off, parking people or sawing someones front wheel off on a practice day, crazy.
F'ing minicycle parents and their offspring.
You did the right thing by not starting any shit. Don't worry; by the time the next race rolls around, that kid will be pissed off at somebody else. It will be poetic justice if/when your kid is roasting that kid in 125B. I've seen that happen many times.
Finally, to answer the question, "Why 85C?:" When I was a kid, we had 80cc Expert, Intermediate and Novice, Stock and Modified, plus 80cc Beginner (open). 7 minicycle classes. If there are enough riders to fill the classes, you do it.
Yeah, that would have got me fired up as well. The way he acted is a good indication that his parents are probably tools themselves, therefore saying something directly to them probably would not have produced constructive results. I always tell my kid his job is to hold his line and be predictable when someone who is faster gets behind him. Outside of that it's up to the other rider to figure out a way around. It seems as though the rude kid in your situation was never provided that lesson.
Teach your kid that’s not what to do, tell him stay cool and do the right thing. Then after you kid goes to bed then go slit the tires on the other kids parents hauler!
Around here..."prepped" practice is on Saturday. Race on Sunday. Same people. They act the same both days.
Tough lesson but great teachable moment. People will suck - fact of life. Support your son and keep it fun.
Houston supercross 2012 when Barcia roosted an injured rider and the medical crew after the race comes to mind. He was fined $5k for it.
IMO track referee/ management should be told. It's up to them to enforce their rules.
reminds me of when Mr.Brady went to buddy hinten's house to talk to his dad..lol
Pit Row
That’s going way back … 😂😂😂
Your kid met an idiot raised by other idiots. It’s unfortunate, but they’re among us and out breeding us. Take solice in the fact that kid will get his at some point. If your son was physically hurt during the altercation that takes the conversation to a whole new level however. My son gets beat quite a few weekends by fast kids that don’t hold a candle to his integrity on and off the track. I’m good with it 😁
Shouldn't be a big deal at this point for your son because he lives this everyday in all things non-moto.
Same ol' BS; just this time it was at the moto races.
Great growing/learning opportunity here for all parties involved.
