I mean, I hadn’t even thought about this series, yet here I am enjoying the first nice weather we’ve seen in Texas since I can’t remember when and chilling on the couch watching Supercross with Sexton, Webb, Lawrence, Anderson, and well honestly I still don’t know who all is there, but this is pretty nice way to unexpectedly enjoy this Saturday.

maybe this SMX thing makes more sense than I first realized.

It’s funny, I was thinking the same thing watching the vids. Excellent weather, everyone’s probably itching to get out and race, at least go ride the track. There’s definitely some fun there.

I was pumped when I could watch MEC and off season sx races. Now we got 3 more sx races in the states..I’m pumped! It pushes off the inevitable..the off season

After a long series of motocross racing it was always nice to get a little preview of the upcoming sx series with monster cup and the other off season races. This delivered that in spades! Chase looks ready to go and deegan looks like hes really cemented himself as a race win threat in sx now too. Plus Shimoda carried over his end of season win into the first smx race.
 

This is going to build hype for the sx season like never before!! Now instead of completely pulling at straws well actually have some data to go off of coming into the sx season. There will be a few month break though so anything can still happen once the sx season does start. I feel like this is going to make the off season have much more hype than normal.

Kinda depressed me to be honest. I love the true outdoors.  High speed rev limiters mid summer. You can’t beat it. This sorta rubbed me the wrong way. If these rinky dink races cause’s guys to not race MXDN what are we doing.   Go head dis like me.

I wouldnt be surprised if some (lesser performing) factory guys gets a ”minor injury” during the week and dont race the 2nd and 3rd race…

Not a fan of the track.  Not much more than a set of drag strips connected by some 90 degree corners and rhythm sections.

I like the idea of doing something different, although I still think the whole sport missed an opportunity to really force Feld to do something better.

Regardless, track was awful imo. High speed with sweepers and little kink switch backs make a bitch for passing...  Just felt like watching a tamed down MXGP in a speedway with one rhythm section.

It's so weird to me how all these years later we haven't worked out what tracks produce good racing and just do that shit...

I agree, a great early Sunday mornings racing, 250, and 450 classes.

I thought it was a great day of racing. Felt like a bonus. Curious if doubling and tripling the points the next 2 rounds keeps it tight and interesting like they want, or creates a blowout.

I agree...I didn't dig the track at all either but it was nice waking up to having some racing to watch

The 65cc post race interviews were great. Those kids had their game face on. Awesome that they had a chance to be on national TV.

I loved the split section.  Especially where i was sitting i could see the over but part of the under was blocked.  That meant every time the riders split there was that couple seconds of suspense to see who would come out ahead.

Motofans (me included) are like kids, they love icecream, ANY icecream!

Of course i watched it, 65’s was the highlight tough…

Yeah I liked it and thought it was interesting. It also seemed pretty equal so there wasn’t a penalty for going one way. Just thought the re-entry was a little sketchy how it crossed lines
