I hope I am wrong, but this is feeling like we ain’t going. Damn.

I think it's fine that the usa doesn't send a team.....i think it's a shame ....it also seems logica to me that then an mxdn will never be held in the usa again...

You should heed the same advice.

It had everything to do with money on the team’s behalf. That event would cost the team a minimum of $35k just to cover the logistics.

That's their excuse but yet have said nothing publicly so there is nothing but speculation...if it's as simple as money (which I don't think it is) then Team USA should have a budgeted amount that they need to raise through the year to help reimburse the teams...I mean FFS if Matthes can raise $140k for a privateer challenge the amount needed to send bikes, essential team personal and riders could easily be raised...It's not about the money...it's about the importance that teams put on this race and their lack of effort to make it happen...Saying that it costs them $35K is piss poor planning on the teams and the AMA...

I said minimum of. Also you have to think about the resources it would take and the personnel that use this down time for family, vacations, weddings, etc. that would have to sacrifice that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. They had 3 events added that hopefully will help grow the sport in the US. Honestly, the teams in the US don’t really care about that event anymore except when it is in the US. That event doesn’t sell moto bikes in the US. That’s why the teams race. You can hate it all you want but it is the way it is now. It’s business, it’s not personal.

There is loads of people , saying money has got to do with. Matthes included. Maybe you should try reading the rest of my post . The biggest reason, is the riders / team s don't want to go if they don't have a chance at winning.

So we are saying the same thing really. They don't want to spend the money if they can't win so they d come up with an excuse about money. But if sexton, tomac ,deegan . Were available they would be going and you would nt even here about how much it costs to go

So now you agree with me that it's not about the money....That's a poor excuse and cop out...is it the money or is it the commitment...KTM group doesn't seem to have an issue with it...

Can be difficult to get quality food and accommodation ? You do know France isn’t a 3rd world country don’t you ? They are known world wide for having the best quality food, chefs and restaurants in the world. They also have good accommodation. Showing your ignorance a bit in this post.

I've been to France twice in 2023 already and one more trip coming up in October for MXon.

In fact, my wife and I just bought a timeshare condo in Zwolle NL because its cheaper than a hotel room when we stay in Europe in summer.

in 2022 I spent three weeks in Les Baux-de-Provence,  Bordeaux and St Jean.  I've been visiting France on and off for about 30 years, so I kind of know my way around by now.

When I say food and accommodation is sometimes hard to get in France, I am speaking of the rural areas where the race tracks are, not the urban areas or the country as a whole.   If you are going to a track in France the small amount of restaurants and hotels sell out quickly for any moto event because the French LOVE their motocross.  I finally got smart and rented a camper for MXon because there are not too many places to stay around Ern'ee

Go to rural France and try to eat healthy and get back to me  - I can tell you first hand it isn't easy.

one more thing - using the old "Dumb uncultured American" trope on me is a little harsh - should I assume because you are apparently British you have bad teeth?Wink

Some of those teams fans and customers do care about this race . Piss them off and maybe they lose a few sales . Pissing off your customers is not a good sales strategy  …

If KTM and Honda are supporting it, who is the sponsor preventing Chase from participating and how do they resolve that?  This sounds like the year Vialle didn't compete over a hat logo.

OK who's at the race right now that can carry a giant sign saying "Where's TEAM USA?!?" through the pits and try to get on TV?

In the words of the Greatest Yachtsman Ever & 3-Time America's Cup Champion, Dennis Conner:

"If the most important thing is to win the America's Cup (& sail with me) for the USA, you need to live this above all else - 'oh, well I've gotta take off for 2 weeks to go skiing (with my family)' - well... enjoy your skiing, but don't bother coming back."

What ever happened to the Senna, Al Davis, Lauda, NYYC-Champion / bleed for it mentality?

I think it may be time for a new USA team manager, someone that ALL of the OEM's can get along with. DeCoster is a great man but it may be time for a change.

The omission of Kawasaki riders from Team USA is glaring and shameful.   Think of all the 450 and 250 Kawi guys who could be on this team and do well this year...

PREACH - I was late to draw for Le Mans this year (24h)... & would've been in reaaalll trouble if it weren't for smarter people around me haha

Procrastination is a trait you DO NOT want to have when racing anywhere in rural France haha

Well Honda said they would support chase. And KTM would support chase..but maybe Chase doesn’t wanna race after riding the bikes for a few days before he has to fly out? And if he doesn’t win he just gets shit on for a month straight…

Breaking news - the 3 best AMA riders ARE going to the 2023 MXdN.

Lawrence, Roczen, Ferrandis will all represent their country Smile.

I agree with you on the last part, but also, if he does ride the ktm with limited prep its reasonable to give him kudos for stepping up and representing the country and also reasonable to expect him to have some trouble adjusting to a new bike in a limited timeframe. It's kind of a win/win, even if it results in a loss on the track. If there was ever a chance for a bit of a free pass, now seems like the time.

Odds are he'd get shit on for going unprepared. It's not right, but probably what would happen.

I don't know anything, but you have to think Anderson is begging to go. He and Barcia love MXDN. I know Barcia can't because of surgery or something.

Just sucks about Kawi.

I know exactly where Zwolle is, been there many many times to go shopping,  I was born and raised in Coevorden,  about 30 miles away,  even though I live in the US now, I was there 2 months ago.

I didn't know they had time shares.

Then lets all agree to just ignore the people who'd rather not acknowledge the challenging circumstances of the situation and instead be stoked on possibly sending an Austrian contingent of Sexton, Plessinger and Hampshire.

Yes & No.

Yes you are right, the issues are systemic - not solely that of ONE individual.

but, no - he does need to go.

I understand what you’re saying but taking the cost away from teams could keep them from having any influence in the race. Yes, they have the money to fund it but if we use their money we are potentially stuck in the same situation where they control everything including who goes and who doesn’t go. The pooling of money through donations will create pride both with riders and fans, give the riders a bit more of a boost knowing the fans helped get them to the race and eliminate any influence or in-fighting between teams.

Money isn't the issue, you can raise all the money you want and it won't change these teams mind...it's the mentality that they need to get prepared for SX and everyday day that theystart that preparation before a competitor is to their advantage...They don't give a shit about what the fans think or want...

Why is every factory team lined up for SMX then?  Even if you include the Monster Energy Cup that’s one extra race over what they would normally do in a season, which is eating into their SX prep time.
