I'm not close to the situation at all, but I assume it has more to do with him seeing an opportunity in his new moto radio show.

There's a silly season to everything, including journalists. Steve was looking for a bigger opportunity, and Transworld MX made him a great offer and he took it. Our loss is their gain for sure, just as it was for them we grabbed Garth Milan when the opportunity came up. In the end, it's a small industry and we're all in this together, I like to think anyway!

Maybe he got offered the gig as a "fluffer" for those hot models in the TWMX pullout photo shoots.

Although him leaving Racer X is a loss for them, maybe Steve can bring TWMX up to a higher, Racer X type standard. How cool would it be to have two GREAT mags instead of one "great" one, and one "just ok" one. Neither one of them is losing any business from me. It all makes sense now, I was having trouble pulling up the Matthes podcasts when I typed in "Racer X".
