I thought they would have more padding over them.  Doesn't seem like a great idea to have them just exposed 10 ft. away from racing lanes.

The concrete is there to keep the riders from crashing on the asphalt.

There’s a lot more run off room and room between lanes than a normal SX.  No danger of a head on collision with an ejected rider or cartwheeling bike.

Lmfao.  I was stationed in England back in the '70's   There was a speedway track near the base.  The Fen Tigers.  

One weekend some American flat trackers showed up for a demo.  It took those guys a micro second to use the plywood as a berm....until it let go.  Complete carnage.  British fans fucking loved it.  Me too.Woohoo
