What exactly does “Star” have to lose by not sending a team?The team isn’t advertising any specific sponsor.. sure, the team itself has sponsors but those sponsors also sponsor other teams so that means nothing.
the biggest issue may be that “Star” isn’t a specific product they’re trying to sell. If the consumers (us) get pissed off at Star for not sending a team then there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it (such as boycotting the product because there isn’t one.) if this was simply Team Yamaha there may be more of an incentive for Bobby Reagan to send the riders. But the fact is, Bobby and team Star get nothing out of sending a team other than lighter pockets. I don’t like it, you don’t like it, but there ain’t a damn thing anyone can do about it.

And I could see why Star wouldn't support DF for the race, they are parting ways.
And it's pretty obvious that Star is run quite differently than Kawi. 100% they would be sending Justin Cooper this year if he could go.
He has said before that Eli told him one year he went, it cost him 20k of his own money. I'm sure he's just using that as a baseline for what kind of expense the riders who attend could face.
I'm struggling to see how Vohland could do it... He's changing teams over to PC from KTM. Same issues that others like Sexton have. Why would it not be Barcia in open and Hampshire on MX2??

What a shit show. The first delay was understandable, but if entries had to be in by the 5th, then why the continued secrecy? Just making a bad situation appear worse.
Tog if we look at it objectively for Deegan, and I’m just using my own opinion here, but there’s not much chance for America to win this year. Why waste the money when he will most certainly have another chance to go next year with a healthy Tomac (given he does outdoors and wants to go out with the trifecta) and a KTM mounted Sexton with no front end wash issues? Just a thought but I would want to go (not that I will ever be invited 😂) when America stood a solid chance to win the event!

If you have to front 20k of your own money then yes. Deegan doesn’t make his money off Star racing Yamaha, he makes it off YouTube. No one wants to watch The Deegans- “The time we got our ass kicked in France!” They wanna watch the Deegans- “The time we kicked everyone’s ass in XYZ!” Again just my opinion but I happen to think it’s a pretty good one. 😂🤙🏻

Ok, well after this years race is concluded we will reconvene and if I’m wrong I will bow at the feet of your all encompassing knowledge and foresight. 😂🤙🏻 But… the way I see this years racing shaping up it would be difficult for USA to podium. There are some very strong teams this year and we don’t have the manpower currently to compete to our potential.

If you listen to what Mathes said carefully it sounds more like Eli was referring to air tickets he bought for family & friends to go. So more like an optional expense.

Yea.... 1x business class flight + 5 nights of a good hotel + 6 days of rental... Doesn't = 20k
But if you splurge for all your family, friends, goggle guy, boot cleaner etc it quickly adds up
Yes, you're probably looking at 5k, and it's easy for us to spend that money for the riders... But this is what I alluded to earlier... If riders put it in their contracts that they wanted to race MXDN, or got a bonus for being picked. It'd be the same as any other race, where they had to spend money to get there...

I don't really believe the stories about teams preventing guys from going, but if that is the case then the guys who would go if not for their team need to blast that out for the world to hear. Shame can be a great motivator.
I really don't get why it's not announced yet in the first place. And also.. as a german and Kenny fan it hurts to see. Like specially last year and now when Ken talked about all this freedom and how fun it is to travel the world and race different places. Why not MXON? Yeah because it doesn't pay 250k per race probably. I really do hope the only reason they delay the announcement is because they waited for Kenny at this point and that he might agree to race it. With Nagl, him and Längenfelder we could have a potential podium team.
I'm surprised we haven't seen any pics of the brothers as kids yet.
