I think its a pricing that only works for die hard fans and it ensures that casual fans dont come.

I have 3 friends who all have kids and all are casual motorsport fans. We've been to 2 Dutch Masters this year, just the guys with their kids on sunday to the races.

A masters is 25 euro for a dad with 2 kids 8 and 10 years old. Older then 13 is 10 euro i think.

This GP would have been 170 euro if bought in presale for them. Thats over 200 euro when you buy a beer, 2 cola and 3 burgers.

I understand a GP is something different then a masters but i couldnt get any of the 3 friends to join at those prices.

I gonna sound like a old bloke, but when I was little there where tons of GP's in Holland and Belgium. One year we went to almost all of them, I guess it was back in 1998. Sidecars at Rijkevorsel to GP250 at Valkenswaard, Keiheuvel and Leuven and the GP500 at Namur. Two adults and two kids. Price back than 500 BEF (12,50 euro), going towards 2001 (triple GP's) and we where already paying 50 euro and going 2023 we're paying 90 euro's.

I totally understand both of your situations. However, if you go to the soccer match of Eredivisie (Dutch League) you will pay 50 EUR each. for 90 mins looking at time wasters. Tickets are now 85 EUR for MXGP. This includes two days of racing, including time practice , EMX250 and in this case WMX. I think it was a fair price. The extra 10 euro's for the grandstands was too much, I was really surprised by that one. Dutch Masters are a great alternative though. Very good racing in all classes, for a limited price. The cost difference of organizing a Dutch Masters vs a Grand Prix are really big, so you can't really compare those to be honest.

I actually understand the cost for the stands. They have to rent it so it costs them extra, and since probably only 10-20% of the audience could get a spot you want to regulate it a bit so that it doesnt lead to overcrowded stands.

Having to pay 10 euro per day was a bit to much though.

Don't get me wrong, i understand the massive costs for the organizer & i also see the value for 2 days of great classes. For that reason i was happy to pay the money and be there.

But for a casual fan (who will not want to go 2 days) it's a big price. For that reason i don't think we will ever have crowds like we had 30-40 years ago in the Netherlands.

It is a shame Martens cannot keep him. Would be nice to see JM have a rider that can podium. But Haarup and McLellan is a pretty good lineup for Triumph.

I don't know if I perhaps missed this, but a Dutch news website (Omroep Brabant) states Calvin Vlaanderen already has a ride for next year (at Van Gebben?):

I've heard the rumor that Vlaanderen is going to race for Factory Fantic. To be honest I'm not sure, but it could be that it means that Gebben turns into Factory Fantic team...

Jacky doesn't pay much if anything at all from what I hear.

Some guys have to pay him to ride.

Will tomorrow send a few text messages. I know that Cas Valk will stay at Fantic, so he will become the EMX250 or MX2 rider for Gebben? Combined with for example Tom Guyon and Calvin Vlaanderen, you have a nice team for a manufacturer that is still building.

I believe Gebben will only do MXGP but with two riders. Who will do the other classes is unclear, latest rumour is that Fantic attempted to buy SM Action.

That’s great news for the paddock and UK motocross. Hopefully they are here to stay.

The latest MXGP Podcast Show has a detailed rundown of the 'messy' Forato situation.

To answer another question, I'm fairly certain that SM Action will be Fantic's MX2 team.

Indeed SM Action will be the mx2 and probably EMX250 team, Gebben mxgp team (Their best offer at the moment is from Fantic, but they are still in negotiations with Yamaha.) On the other hand I guess Yamaha Europe/Holland will support the (new) private team from Vosters. If the new manufacturers such as BETA, Ducati, ... are smart they try to reel Vosters in!

For a couple of years now Yamaha Europe has had the strategy to focus on one 1 team per class (mxgp-mx2-emx250-emx125). Any other team was via a local branch, like Gebben was via yamaha nl. It used to be that EU spend their money on a lot of teams, but tgat has stopped for a while now.

So i cant see Fosters getting support from yamaha europe.

...the completely unfounded, zero credibility, 7th hand worthless rumor I heard last week is that Yamaha was really expecting a MXGP title this year with Herlings and Gajser out of the points, and while they were tired of getting second place, they won't even get that this year and will have to settle for the bronze medal courtesy of Seewer or the soon to leave Hoff,  all the while paying for a well-compensated three rider team.

Also, they want to move up Kemea to see if they can do a better job at MXGP next year, because that team has at least delivered some MX2 titles over the last three years and has a good working relationship with Geerts.

Or, it could all be bullshit...

For a MXGP title you need Prado, Gajser, Febvre or Herlings. Or you should be really lucky with all of them injured. Yamaha needs to hire one of those guys in my opinion

It is true that Yamaha is tired of not winning. The sad part is: "they aren't paying to win", Vosters is paying to win and Yamaha is selling bikes because Vosters is putting a lot of money into the sport and the same in the USA with the STAR-dealership owner. They can't by the way not say Vosters didn't try he wanted to make Prado the highest payed driver, but it didn't happened.

Kawasaki was also tired of getting second, so they changed set-up and got involved with IceOne and are now also more onboard with Japanese people close to the team and Kawasaki also putting more money into the team. Till a few years before the French team owner Thierry Chizat Suzzoni was paying for Paulin, Desalle, Villopoto, ... and Kawasaki was just doing uhm almost nothing.

There is something rotten in the state of motocross.

The issue is that it was one race. We've seen what happens to the guy during a whole season, he can't keep it together. Maybe the 450 makes him crash less? But that is unlikely.

I however agree that Geerts will be really fast on the 450. Definitely fast enough to score moto wins and maybe overalls too. But he wont get Yamaha a 450 title unless the top dogs all get hurt.
