I was at that race! Crazy stuff. Kinda wish we’d have seen the perfect season though. Not sure it will ever happen in SX.

Never say never who thought a guy at 19 in his first season would do it outdoors and here me out here not saying at all Jett’s the guy but you just never know and heck yeah it’s a tall feat.

Anything can happen! Many say nobody will ever touch MC’s SX win total. But had RC not had his couple SX season health issues and not retired early he was on a path to destroy MC’s win totals.

so moral of the story, never say never.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. The reasons you listed are the reasons why it will likely never happen.

Yeah after '09 I would have bet a substantial amount of money Bubba was going to break MC's win total. A perfect sx season? I don't know. So many things have to fall into place. More so than mx. Yes, there are more motos to win then sx mains. But you have 30+2 laps to overcome a bad start. With sx being so one lined, a bad start out of the top 10 would kill you

^Jett has proven himself to be a great starter, though. It could happen.

I think he'll get beaten in SX, though. There are so many variables to account for, and everyone is so good!

Maybe before James and Chad moved up. Once they moved up his winning slowed down a bit. Ricky needed at least 2 more years (like 3 or 4) to get more wins than MC.

I was at St Louis as well for that race.

When leaving Ironman Saturday, I was kind of thinking what peoples reaction would have been if Chase stepped up and actually ended Jett's undefeated streak that last moto? Could only imagine how much drama that would have started on social media, etc? And if it would ended up helping his image or created more hate for him??

Exactly what my point is. Never is a long time. Anything can happen anytime.

SX is a starters race. Yes you can win from behind, but not as far. One bobble and you can be out of contention. Not as much physical conditioning required. Not saying it is easy,. margin for error. is significantly smaller.

Ricky was close I think once. James could have done it if Chad Reed wasn't around. McGrath should have done it. Was interesting reading in his book about it. He spent so much time talking to big wigs and sponsors and everyone under the sun when he should have been concentrating on winning the race.

He'll be bored and will start to transcend beyond MX/SX. He appears to have an affinity for cars, swaps to auto racing at age 25 after 5 straight perfect seasons. Stamp it.

Seriously though, I do believe he finds areas of interest outside of MX by his mid-20s and pursues those.

RC missed one season in ‘04 and then retired when James was starting to go on a tear in sx. I don’t think rc would’ve got to McGrath record even if he raced thru the ‘09 season. RC couldn’t really touch James in sx in ‘07.
